General Banter / Personal Baskets
« on: May 17, 2005, 01:09:21 PM »
How many people have personal baskets whether portable or stationed in the back yard?  Finding used baskets is proving to be very difficult.

I'm very interested in getting one, what are some of the quality but affordable models out there?

Also does anyone know if you can pick them up from DGW or do you have to have them shipped?

General Banter / scorecards

I dont know if it matters much but on you can print off scorecards for other courses in the area.  If everything is a par 3 then I guess it wouldn't matter what name it said at the top, or maybe you could change that :S  I dunno.

Beginners / Weight does it matter?

Do you think its better to up weight with the same disc or change to a disc that is more overstable.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Well I heard that you should try to throw the same weight all the time. And that lighter disc's go farther.
I tryed the 170-173 class and the 164-166 and i can throw the 164's the best.
But some guy on the course one day told me that the more weight the ferther it will go.
And why are all the mid range disc's 170 and up my fav mid is 180 but I don't think it goes very far.
Well I guess I really want to know what do most people throw? So if you want to reply let me know.

Here is what I have gathered in my 2 months of playing.  For me personally 150 is just too light, especially with my putter.  For a beginner you should be throwing probably mid 160's - low 170's.  That does not mean you can't have a heavy Putter or even a heavy Roc.

Now another situation where weight can play an important role is when your dealing with headwinds, and tailwinds.  Obviously a heavier disc will manage to stay on line better in a head wind than a lighter disc.  Then tailwinds you're lighter disc will glide further than an heavier disc.

I choose 170 on your poll just because the average of my disc's probably falls  into that range.  My heaviest disc is 174 and it's my Putter, which is good for shots 200' and in.  My main driver is exactly 170 Tee-Bird DX (must have driver for a beginner)  My Roc is 172 (arguably the most must have disc for any golfer).  I have a couple other drivers that are 168, and 172.

What disc's are you throwing?  I dont know if you've found this site yet but it's very imformative on techniques, and discs Disc Golf Review

Let me know if I can help anymore, and there are plenty of helpful golfers out on the course.

I played WyCo on Saturday nice course, I found it somewhat difficult to find my way around the first time.  They really, really need to mow as of Saturday, but I imagine that will be done sometime this week.  I'll give it another go :)

Did anyone go to the Wakarusa Fest last year and play the DG course (s) they had set up?

My wife and I are considering going this time around and I was wondering what your thoughts on the course(s) were.

Where do you sign up for this event?  Or do you just sign up the day of the event?  Also is this just restricted to members or can Spouses come as well?

You can't get rid of the ads, they are the reason topica is 'free'.  You reply to the same address listed as the sender - or something like that, just hitting reply in your email client usually does the trick.

Awww, thank you Sean I did not know it was free.  I thought it was something the club subscribe to, to provide the members a way of communicating (like this :D).  What about starting a new message just send to

Rosedale / 4/25 Beginners League
« on: April 26, 2005, 08:24:28 AM »
Well last night was an interesting round of golf as our fearless leader Paul led 5 other players through a very rainy round.  Scores were all over the place, but we had tons of fun.

Lesson taught last night Gore-Tex :D my socks, and feet were soaking wet by the time I got to the basket on #2 :(

I'm going to work with Paul in the future to bring the actual scores here but last night everyone just wanted to get out of the rain into some dry clothes.
