General Banter / Prairie Center is getting Greener

Starting sometime this month Olathe Parks will have silver trash cans to help disc golfers recycle plastic bottles and cans. Now we can not only claim to have the park with the most fun, but also we can also feel a little better about doing our part to save the planet from global warming. Then again we like global warming, so just make sure you drive your smog producer a long distance to get there.

Prairie Center / Stolen Chains on holes 4,9,17

If you have noticed that these baskets haven't been catching the same there is a good reason why. It appears sometime around last spring someone has upgraded their basket at home at our expense. There are six chains on the inner ring on this type of Innova Diskcatcher (now diskejector) baskets. It just so happens that hole 4 has three chains missing, hole 9 has one and hole 17 has two missing. All these baskets can conveniently be accessed by the road which makes it easy for someone to grab. We need to get these 6 chains replaced and make sure all the chains are crimped down so there not so easy to remove.

Found and Lost / Know anyone who got their bag stolen?

Check this out, this guy is selling all his disc golf stuff on CL for $75. It's possible this guy either found or stole this bag. He seems to know a little about how much some of it cost, but most disc golfers do. Supposedly he left town a few weeks ago too.

Prairie Center / Prairie Center Distances

I barrowed my father-in-law's GPS Nav to try to figure out if it could be used for anything. This one was made by Bushnell so it was a little bit more difficult to use than a Garmin. The guy on playdg.com measured the distances with a garmin, but that was quite a few years ago and we have made a lot of changes since then. I agree with a lot of his measurements, except for a few which I will recheck. These GPS divices are not designed to be used at this small of a scale and the accuracy rating is about 10-20'. I checked all these placements three different ways and these are the averages rounded to the nearest increment of 5.

We are going to need to get signs made up for '09 Worlds and I figured this would be a good start.

Bag Tags / The Bag Tag Challenge needs some spice

Something needs to be added to make the bag tags more interesting. Can we look at how some other groups do their bag tags, because I have seen other groups doing it a lot different than we do.

I would at least like a few events were everyone puts there tags in box and the tags are redistributed based on overall score.

Winter Leagues / Summer leagues to start in 5 weeks!!!

March 11 is the when daylight savings time starts this year (yeppie), so our first summer leagues will officially starts in the winter. FYI-spring starts March 21. The sun will be setting at 7:26pm and will probably be dark and cold at 7:45pm. The average high that time of year is 55 so we need to hope el-nino or global warming can help make it a little more beer-able. Don't be a wimp, so bring your bag tags, glow lights, keroseen heaters down south to OOOOlathe (where you can't find a nicer bunch of guys) on March 12 so we can kick this baby off right.
