Nice ace Bryan. He better have Pacifico or heads are gonna roll... :D

Which heads are gonna roll? Mikedopen. did offer a Pacifico before the round started, but I took a Nat light and look what it got me. So I will be keeping with the tradition that Mikedopen started and go with the #1 disc golf beer of choice. Any other special request?

Found and Lost / Know anyone who got their bag stolen?
« on: August 18, 2010, 05:50:39 PM »
Check this out, this guy is selling all his disc golf stuff on CL for $75. It's possible this guy either found or stole this bag. He seems to know a little about how much some of it cost, but most disc golfers do. Supposedly he left town a few weeks ago too.

Tournaments / Re: Graceland Babay!
« on: March 04, 2009, 07:36:55 PM »
The Date for this event is April 25 (dubs) and 26 (Graceland Open).

Good to see Lamoni back! This is one of my favs. If I only have one day to play that weekend I will be there, otherwise I plan on going to see a real Chief at the Green Country Open, a NT in Pawhuska,Ok. The courses were designed by Kevin McCoy and they are sick. I think Kevin is getting married to Courtney on the Island that weekend.
They have Camping on site with utilities and a Indian cosino a couple of miles down the road. This sounds more to your liking, Jack. This is a Pro tournament, but that hasn't stopped you in the past.

Thanks John. I really appreciate the time you put in on this. It does help me to have a measurement on how my league rounds compare to PDGA rounds.

There may be more people not finishing there bad rounds now to protect their rating.

I would like to see my round ratings, because I know mine should be higher than 961! The two rounds at WYCO I was rated at 986 and 994 and I played in two leagues which I was at -5 at Olathe and -5 at Rosy. That means those league rounds had to be rated at 920 to 930. I wonder if you have enough rated players to plug into your formula to get accurate results similiar to the PDGA's. Do you plug the SSA into that rating?

General Banter / Re: How do I train my dog to find lost discs?
« on: March 31, 2008, 10:53:59 AM »
Good luck with that Corinna, I have been trying to get my dog Zoe to stop chasing discs. Zoe doesn't retrieve them though, just slobbers all over them to let me know she found it first.

Most service dogs begin training at about 16-18 months of age, so a puppy may have a problem learning difficult tasks.

To train your dog I would first get the dogs favorite treat or toy. Walk the dog to the disc make it sit and speak and then give it the reward. It sometimes takes at least 50-60 reps, before it catches on.

We will need to shoot those distances with the laser range finder, because I wasn't always getting consistant results. There are placements that aren't visible on about every pad and it will be worse when the trees green up. Let me know if I can help you with that.

Thanks,
Bryan

I barrowed my father-in-law's GPS Nav to try to figure out if it could be used for anything. This one was made by Bushnell so it was a little bit more difficult to use than a Garmin. The guy on playdg.com measured the distances with a garmin, but that was quite a few years ago and we have made a lot of changes since then. I agree with a lot of his measurements, except for a few which I will recheck. These GPS divices are not designed to be used at this small of a scale and the accuracy rating is about 10-20'. I checked all these placements three different ways and these are the averages rounded to the nearest increment of 5.

We are going to need to get signs made up for '09 Worlds and I figured this would be a good start.

Prairie Center / Re: Any ideas to make Monday league more interesting?
« on: February 28, 2008, 12:50:04 PM »
I Think you should keep the 6:00pm start time and just plan on finishing in the dark playing glow. I won't be able to make it if you start before 5:45. Having a later start time would also help those outside of Olathe be able make it on time.

One change that I wouldn't mind is mixing the cards with different divisions. Having a few ams play with open players may help improve their level of play. I think we also need a day were we have the top bag tags play together on a card regardless of division.

I don't want to play doubles or wolf.

Shawnee Mission / Re: Shawnee Mission Course OPEN !!
« on: November 11, 2007, 06:16:21 PM »
I got to play on Saturday as Dirk was placing all the tee markers. It was a little windy which I think will probably be the norm since it sits at a higher elevation. We started with three and ended with six in our group. The group grew because Dirk was in our group and they had to play with us or behind us to know were the tee markers were going to be. There were a lot of bogeys and double bogeys, but I got through with only one bogey and four birdies to set the new course record of 51.

Bag Tags / The Bag Tag Challenge needs some spice
« on: October 30, 2007, 10:53:58 AM »
Something needs to be added to make the bag tags more interesting. Can we look at how some other groups do their bag tags, because I have seen other groups doing it a lot different than we do.

I would at least like a few events were everyone puts there tags in box and the tags are redistributed based on overall score.
