Tournaments / Re: New Tournament
« on: December 14, 2010, 12:52:10 PM »
Someone brought up the question whether a 2-round C-tier could be sanctioned where the first round was on a weekday evening with the second round the next evening? I checked and the answer is "Yes."

I think this opens up a new set of options for PDGA sanctioned events at the local level. The weekend calendar is getting so crowded in some locations that TDs are running out of good weekend dates. In addition, we all know lots of players who find it much easier to find time to play on weekday evenings than weekends due to jobs or family obligations. Just tossing the idea out there as you are planning your events for next year.
Rater of the tossed arc.
PERFECT fit for the Blue Springs course

the water temperature was bearable, fairways firm, greens soft, perfect golfing conditions.

2011 Ice Bowl/Winter Series -
Creve Coeur - 1/2/2011 - Ryder Cup Points Qualifier
West City - 1/8/2011 - Ryder Cup Points Qualifier
Jefferson Barracks - 1/15/2011 - Ryder Cup Points Qualifier
Quail Ridge - 1/22/2011 - Ryder Cup Points Qualifier
Hazelwood - 2/5/2011 - Ryder Cup Points Qualifier

here's how the ice bowl goes down in the lou, a series of sunday competitive events gathering donations throughout the coldest month culminating in a massive donation to the poor, the wretched, and the hungry. they're also setting up a team for the MO Ryder Cup. note they finish @ Hazelweeds, the "rosedale" of STL for the party atmosphere.

i like glovers ideas especially since the ace run format moved very quickly and efficiently at blue springs. also why not combine all those "ctp" & "flight" prizes as ctp on certain holes for every group, sure would save time for the end of ice bowl giveaways, just let the winners blind pick grab and go.

idea # 1 use blue valley this year, and get some<lots> of foot traffic out there, you know exposure for the course to the community, blah blah chili contest, feed the homeless with the leftovers at 10th and troost, kcfdc makes headlines, golfers feel good playing a real course in the cold. weenie arms could play the junior course.

idea # 2 use all the courses, and get each course committee to actually show up at each course on the same day, do our ice bowling, and see which courses bring in the most donations, and then turn it all in as a club, or maybe MO vs KS, but the metro wide effort is better for exposure and way less intrusive to the courses. it'd kinda suck for the party atmosphere, but is a giant party or a travelling trophy what we're striving for?  i've got more ideas, please weigh in on these first as i think my best 2 ideas
