Tournaments / Re: East vs West Team Championship
« on: February 20, 2012, 10:10:05 PM »
i think the custom disc should be the fundraiser, and then the players can work out a sidebet, or play skins and the team with the most cash in skins wins a trophy, but i agree that an entry fee for payout is not really workable in an east/west showdown. an observation on charity events - we've got plenty, they're fun. east vs west seems to be a more competetive and prestigious event than to be diluted by a philanthropic interest <think NFL probowl to cure cancer?>

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE!

The scheduling for this event has changed! Due to an unforseen STL Parks Deptartment reservation conflict, the courses have been swapped. Sioux Passage will now be played on Saturday, with a 9AM start, and Endicott will now be played on Sunday, with a 9AM start.

Thank you for your attention and please help spread the word!

Shawnee Mission / Re: Large Tree Removed on #9
« on: January 30, 2012, 02:00:23 PM »
Most plant-parasitic nematodes are associated with plant roots, but the pine wood nematode is found in aboveground parts of the tree. Nematodes kill the tree by feeding on the cells surrounding the resin ducts. This causes resin to leak into the tracheids, resulting in "tracheid cavitation" or air pockets in the water transport system. Just as a person cannot drink through a straw with holes in it, the tree cannot move water upward and consequently wilts and dies.

‎16 for Smithville Sunday at Blackthorn on another fine January day in Missouri. Low 40's with very little wind. Great to see the crew from St. Joseph!

Fred Smith and Dick came in at 53 to lead the way today. Almost everyone stayed and played on either Beaver Creek or Woodhenge.

We were lucky enough to see a Bald Eagle and a Snowy Owl today. The owl flew by us pretty low and really fast then landed on a pole and posed a minute before flying off to land on a sign near Blackthorn hole 16 basket.

that loomis is a bagger is based on the fact that he is the highest rated amateur entrant for the memorial, it must be easier to play with sand in your bag than butterflies in your abdomen.
