Tournaments / Re: Ryan's 30th Birthday Party/ Disc Golf Tournament
« on: September 02, 2007, 04:46:56 PM »
Thank you to everyone that came out for my birthday party!  I had a blast and I hope you did to.  I didn't realize how little I was actually prepared for the Tournament part of it (first time, but will plan better next time) so thank you to everyone that helped me figure that out.  It was also really good to have the disc golf community there to show the casual players how well the game can be played.  Some of them had never played before, and others had never seen talented disc golfers throw before.  Overall, I thought it was a great event and a fun birthday!

I have a habit over complicated things, so I'll leave this short.
Best,
ryan

We found them in the parking lot after our round.   Don't sweat it!

Everyone is welcome!  It is not a PDGA sanctioned event, nor much of a challenge in the way of tournaments.  But if you want to kick back on a Saturday afternoon, play some discgolf and celebrate with good people, please attend!
Check out the details here:

I'd love to see ya there!

For any one who wants to attend, the details are listed here:
http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/rpof22@umkc.edu/swope

It should be a good time. Most of the participants will be inexperienced and I'll provide them with discs and such. The more the merrier!

Swope / Friendly Basket Settings?

Hi! I am having my 30th birthday party at Swope either on Aug. 31 or Sept. 1.  First, let me say that all people are welcome to attend.  I'm hoping to bring my grill, so just grab some grillables and beverages.  Also, I'm planning on having a teams battle (teams of 3 or 4), with scoring in 6-hole groups respectively: Best Score, Worst Score, and Average Score.

I was wondering if I could possibly have the pins set to something very easy.  I will have many inexperienced (or no-experience) players and I want everyone to have fun.  Let me know what I need to do and I'll do it.

Best,
Ryan

General Banter / Re: Winter Park, Colorado

Not really much in the way of bugs.  More dangerous was the possibility of hard, cold rain.  It was about 65-70 depending on the amount of sun.  Not bad for late July!

Winter Park was amazing!!!  Disc golf at 10,500 feet.  The lift ticket was reasonable, the ride was great, the view was spectacular.  The course is very challenging, especially the elevation changes.  It is easy to catch a roll and find yourself way past the hole and just as easy to find yourself out of steam tossing up huge inclines.  Lots of fun.  Here are some photos

Rosedale / Re: Down Under Signs

Actually, the project took a bit of back seat as I am in the process of moving - still in town, but putting things in boxes takes up most of my time.  I drew up the basic ideas, where signs are necessary, etc.  I was going to make them out of wood and paint on them, but if you have availability for quality sign making, that would be fantastic.

Hey Flyers,

Liz and I are heading up to Denver for a few days and were eyeing up various disc golf courses.  Has anyone played Winter Park? It has a lift ticket cost, but if I get to play in the moutains, I figure it'd be worth it.  All opinions welcome...

Best,
Ryan

If by GM you mean General McLane HS, Edinboro PA, then you may be on to something... but if General Motors, no.

I'll just make the signs.  It will be a good project for me this summer.  If I post them, and you all hate them, we can work out something else!

Rosedale / Down Under Signs

Hey KCFs,

I recently joined the club and would love to help out.  I am a big fan of the Rosedale Down Under course, but I feel that the lack of signage can be discouraging for visitors or new players.  I would really enjoy making signs for the course to help with directions and explain multiple tee boxes.  I'm not sure who is organizing down under work days, but you can count me in.
