Rosedale / Re: Down Under Work Day
« on: September 12, 2011, 06:16:44 PM »
If any other able-bodied disc golfers want to lend a hand (and an arm, and some legs, etc), John Theiss, Tim Becks, and I will be at Rosey at 4:45 PM TOMORROW Sept. 13th.   We're planning on heading down under via Up Top's #2 tee pad.

I'll also bring a couple dozen Parks and Rec garbage bags.   So if it looks like there are too many cooks in the "cut-the-tree kitchen", feel free to come by and drag a bit of garbage out of down under.

Sounds great, John.   My Thursday evening is booked, but I'm sure I can work down there any other night this week.

It will take chainsaws - I'm nearly certain.  Chainsaws or giants.   Do we have any giants?

What does the club have that I may use?  Any type of saw?  If it takes me 3 weeks, I'll saw the hell out of a tree.

Rosedale / Down Under Work Day
« on: September 11, 2011, 05:24:34 PM »
Hello friendly club members, all of whom love to play the Down Under course at Rosedale...

I would like to coordinate a work day for ol' D.U.  There are some trees that fell in the fairway that I think we could get rid of.   I do not own any equipment for this, but I have plenty of determination and a little bit of time.   Does anyone with chainsaws and what not want to come help me clear the fallen trees?

My schedule is fairly open in the morning, especially the early morning.  I am willing to meet up on weekends too.   I really want to take care of this - but I need help.

Reply with times/dates that work.   And please include any equipment you may have.

Best,
Ryan

I would love to see how this stuff would look on a disc golf basket:  http://www.glonation.com/unpigmented-glow-paint.php

Don't worry, I won't buy it and then start painting baskets without talking to anyone first.  I mean, who would do that? Seriously. But I may buy it and paint my own chains.

Don't get me started on editing, E.

"Oh, and air air pressure..."
You've got to watch out for that air air.  hahaha

Speaking of nerding out...

If you're going to borrow, use citations and/or list source material.  Give us a bibliography.  They are important, particularly in recounting research that is not common knowledge or that is from your own findings.

When I created this topic, I had no idea how controversial it was.

As for hole nine the rocks were moved because of weed eating around them, the island is a problem as far as out of bounds. The rocks look nice, wish we had more railroad ties though to do the island. I will work on a list this week for a work day now that its going to get cooler out.

Thanks for the info, Bert.   Let me know if I can lend a hand.  I live very close.   Also, I dropped off a yellow champion Valkyrie with your name on it to DGW.  I think Bob was going to pick it up for you.   The great thing about shooting every shot in the woods is finding other peoples lost plastic.  hahahaha   If only that made me feel better about what I shot today!

The rocks were certainly nicely organized.  It made the OB line very clear (at least until they ran out of rocks).   I do worry, however, about how drastically this changes the challenges of this fairway.  I should probably keep my mouth shut.   As a RH backhand thrower, the new set up benefits me quite a bit.

Anyone have inside knowledge on what is going on with hole #9 and the expanded fairway?  I feel like I missed a topic or something.

If the club likes the idea of a rotating/adopt-a-hole DU trash schedule, I'll spearhead it.  Hell, I'll even adopt #15 and #16.

I think the garbage cans are misleading on the down under course.   People are littering, of course.  But many times the litter is overflow from full cans. Wind, animals, and drunk young 'uns will disperse the full cans and create a big mess.  The garbage cans are there to be used, but we don't have a system or easy method for getting them emptied...at least not regularly.   That tells me that we need to either set up a volunteer schedule for weekly trash can emptying or remove the trash cans.   Glass or not, they don't get emptied often enough. I'll willingly admit that while I've emptied trash down under, I don't do it frequently.

I am fine with either option.  I would gladly put my name on a rotating trash schedule down under.   I am also fine with removing the trash cans and posting a "pack in/ pack out" sign.

blue valley 13, yup you know you can't think of it right off the bat, it's boring and a lot of plastic is lost for nada, oh yeah and the soon to be old hole 4 at woodhenge
Are you kidding?  I love this hole.   I enjoy throwing as many drivers as I can from this tee pad.  Great view down the hill, nice moguls at the end... I think it is a fantastic hole.
