Oh, I want to register for a couple of Rocs.  Can I do that?  Is there anything else in the player's pack this year?

I'm out of town this weekend for a wedding, but GO TEAM ROC!

It is not a true island, it just plays like an island.  There is plenty of landing space nearly halfway up the fairway if a person cannot reach the pin or wants to play safe.

No drop zone needed then.  It sounds like it will play fine!

The PDGA does have suggestions about such things as forced OB carries...

I lived in the 'corridor' for 2 years (Iowa City / Cedar Rapids), which is where I really feel in love with the game.

The courses are a blast, and the people are even better.  Go. You won't regret it.

Swope / Re: Swope League 2015
« on: June 12, 2015, 02:20:00 pm »
Last year was also the first year I was able to start putting up rope on Monday.  It takes damn near an entire day (and most of an evening to do).

Depending on when they get any sort of mowing done on Monday, I may be able to get some of it knocked out.  If I'm lucky, they've mowed the north part for the temp course, and I can go lay that out.

However...

IF YOU WANT TO COME HELP ME SET UP ON TUESDAY YOUR HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Patrick and I will do everything we can to get the course in the ground, but if we have to start on Tuesday, it will be a close call to whether it's finished before league.  This new USDGC style rope is going to take longer to put up than the simple flag and string method.

7
The course should be fully set up by Tuesday before the event.  KCP&R has to mow the whole course before we start putting up the OB.

8
Exact same set up as last year with nicer rope.

+1.  Absolutely nothing is changing in 2015, except adding that USDGC style rope on poles.

9
Except the rope will be much fancier.

Glitter rope?

Blinking rope lights. The KCFDC spares no expense.

Swope will be the same as last year.  Same tees, same pin positions, and same mile+ of rope  :).

Next year, expect some changes...

That Sprint guy aced 8 with everyone standing around watching. That has to be a first.

Nope.  My partner (for Cerner) aced #15 3 years back.

Rosedale / Trimming up @ Rosedale?

Would anyone care to trim up some of the greens at Rosedale this weekend?

#10
#16

Those are the ones that probably need the most attention.  Some loppers and gloves, and we would be good to go from about 9 to 12.

Is there any interest here?
