Tournaments / KCFDC 2011 Calendar of Events
« on: January 25, 2011, 11:05:29 AM »
I've put up a Google Calendar of all of the KCFDC events this year.  I'll be creating a calendar for leagues once those get set in stone, and I may create another calendar for the events in the surrounding cities.

If you see your event up and want some information added, just let me know.  If you see an event that isn't up that you want up, let me know.

I've added a couple more calendars:

Non-tournament KCFDC events (BoD meetings, Work days once we get them, etc):

General Banter / Looking for people to help run summer leagues
« on: January 25, 2011, 10:17:02 AM »
I've heard a number of people voice their concerns about getting involved with the club.  Some people assume that it's an exclusive club.  Others assume that previous experience is required.  NEITHER are true.  The truth is that the KCFDC is always looking for people that can step up and volunteer their time in helping.  One of the ways we're looking to have people contribute is through running leagues.  We expect the majority of the typical league nights to stay the same this year (a small fraction may change, and those decisions will be made at the beginning of February).  If you're worried about running a league for the first time; don't be.  We have plenty of long-time club members who will be willing to show you the ropes for the first couple of weeks.  All we ask is that you're able to abide to a commitment of time in running league, to encourage new players to join, and to keep the league fun.

One of the other ideas that I had in the past has been a "league by committee."  This had been done to a degree at WyCo in 2010.  Basically, it allows a number of people to run league.  That way, no single person is on the hook for 7 months of the same weekday.

If you have any questions or would like to put your name into the hat to help, please let me or another BoD member know.  We look forward to seeing some new faces in positions of leadership this year!

Swope / Swope Mini - 7.20.2010
« on: July 20, 2010, 09:35:45 AM »
Long Pads, Mandos and OBs tonight.  Most of the pins are short, and I'll probably shorten 1 or 2 more.

Also, if someone with KC Cash and Scorecards could come, I have neither :(.

Tournaments / Sunburn Open - Not Happening
« on: June 21, 2010, 11:05:37 AM »
I was going to do a non-sanctioned doubles event on July 3rd that was going to be 3 rounds of random draw doubles (2 day, 1 night) for Sunburn Open.  Unfortunately, other commitments have popped up for me, and won't be able to run this.  If someone else would like to (or run an entirely different format all together), they are more than free to do so.

Sorry to disappoint you guys :(.

Swope / Want to Play Swope Gold before it's torn down?
« on: June 21, 2010, 08:51:58 AM »
I'll be taking Swope Gold apart on Thursday.  I've also removed the 1st temp pin because it's not locked into a collar.

I had a lot of folks at the WO who said they'd like another shot at this course (or those who didn't play said they'd like a chance to play it).  So would folks like to play the Swope Gold course for league this week?  It's probably the only other time this year I'll have it set up like this.

Swope / Swope Preparation for the Wide Open
« on: June 10, 2010, 01:55:53 PM »
Swope is an easy course to maintain because of how little schule exists on the actual course.  However, there are a few things to clean up.

  • Trim around the rocks on both the front and the back
  • Trim up the left side of #13's fairway
  • Trim up the rock green on #13
  • Pick up any loose trash on the course
  • Mark the temporary OB lines once the grass gets cut (hopefully Monday)

I will be out Saturday morning and Sunday early afternoon to get started on this.  I'll also be out to mark the OB on Monday and Tuesday, and hopefully have the course totally ready by Thursday evening to allow for a full day of practice to the competitors.  If you'd like to come out and help, I would be more than happy to have some extra hands.

Thanks,
Chris

Found and Lost / Guess who's got Slant's Roc?
« on: June 02, 2010, 11:45:23 PM »
I was playing some guys down under, and they found your Roc in a tree off to the right of #5.  I can either get it to you at league sometime (WyCo maybe?) or drop it off at DGW.

General Banter / 2010 MO-Kan Points Series - Session 2 - Cancelled
« on: June 02, 2010, 01:47:52 PM »
The next session of the traveling points series won't start until the 1st full week in July, but I wanted to let people know of the changes I'll be making to the points series:

  • Change the the Handicap:  This time, we'll use a different format.  Currently, I take your player rating (which is an average of all your rounds), and use that to figure your handicap.  Unfortunately, there's a large disparity in the number of strokes given to players in the 800 and below range.  To make the league fair to everyone from a 600 rated player to a 1050 rated player, I'll be incorporating a new formula:  I'll take your top 5 rounds from your last 10 rounds, average those together, and use that as your rating.  For each 9 points you're under 1000, you'll get a stroke.
  • Each week we'll be awarding the same number of points.  We've had some folks who haven't made out too well in the points count even though they've attended a lot of minis.  So if there are 20 people playing next session, and only 1 person shows up for said mini, they'll get 21 points.

Here's the schedule and registration form for the 2nd session:

Found and Lost / Lost Wallet
« on: June 01, 2010, 09:02:34 AM »
My wallet was lost at Rosedale Park yesterday.  Witnesses said they saw it on the ground next to my car.  I assume it was in my lap when I got out and I didn't realize it.  If anyone has any information on it, or would care to return it, please call me at 870-834-4569.

Thanks,
Chris
