Blue Valley / Re: League?
« on: September 20, 2007, 04:04:54 pm »
With a course that size, would it be more feasible to put everyone in one division and play some sort of handicapped league on the weekends?  Maybe spend a few weeks just playing without payout, then put the handicaps in effect?

Anyways, if people would play out there, I think I'd join them more often.

Gotcha.  I didn't know if the "original course" referred to the up top portion, or a pin setting for the up top.

I found a dyed roadrunner at Cliff Drive this weekend.  ID it, and I'll get it back to you.

Since I'm a recent resident of the KC area, could somone tell me which pins are the "original" Rosedale settings?

I'll try and buy them, and post if I get any with names.

General Banter / Re: Backhand vs Forehand
« on: August 02, 2007, 12:25:35 pm »
I throw both, but with opposite hands.  LHFH, RHBH.  The forehand only gets used if I've got to stand still, have to reach around something, or am trying to hit a gap so small I don't want to take my eye off the target.

If this map is accurate, it looks like the front 9 is more wooded.

I like the sound of that.  KC could use some more wooded, technical holes.

Found and Lost / Lost Spirit at Blue Valley

I think I left it on the fairway of 17 yesterday.  Bright orange spirit with no name on it.  If you find it, I'd love to get it back.

guess it depends..

i've played there several times in the middle of the day and never felt threatened, well, unless poison ivy is as mean to you as it is to me

The plants don't really bother me that much.  Thanks for the info; I'll be in town for about 3 weeks before I start working, and Cliff Drive seems to be the most balanced course in the area.  Aside from the Rosedale down under course, there isn't anything that could be classified as "wooded" in the area, right?

Thanks for the info.  I was also curious about Cliff Drive, which is the only course in the area that I haven't played.  Some of the folks on the Iowa board were mentioning how unsafe they felt in the area; is it a safe place to play by yourself?

General Banter / Moving to KC in June

My name is Chris, and I'll be moving to KC in June for a job.  I'm coming from Iowa City, IA, where I spent the past two years going to college (sort of) and developing both my disc golfing game and course building skills.  From what I understand, Kansas City has leagues that meet on a different night (or morning) on a particular course.  Are there other leagues that compete over a longer period of time?  For example, the biggest league in my area is a 4 month handicapped doubles thing.

Also, to whom would I get involved with to assist in the '09 worlds organization?  I'm not sure if you're going to full out build new courses, but I imagine some serious volunteer work will be needed, and would like to donate my time.

I look forward to meeting many of you over the course of the Summer/Fall.
