I use a Greasemonkey script to change "Old Pike" to "Swope" on here, that way I never have to read about OP. Ya, rly.

Whoa!  MH and Greasemonkey!  Noice!

Yep, I figure that way, whenever I can attend league on Tuesday, it'll be Swope. OP is a sweet course, just don't care for doubles much.

OLD PIKE, best payouts in KC, BaaaaaaLeeeeedat!

This coming from a guy who signed off on the payouts :).

Yeah, that's it.

the grip article is one of the most helpful articles that I've personally read.  Most people throw a 4 finger power grip and that's it.  You'll be able to see a variety of other grips that others incorporate.

I'm not sure what this message means, perhaps someone can explain it to me:

This is from steeler Doug...

Quote:

Nothing to brag about Loomis. She beat everyone lower rated than her, except  5th below her.

1 X Michelle Horn 9545 868 60 53 64 56 61 52 31 +18 377 $325

2 X Molly Galbraith 40799 875 56 55 60 57 70 51 35 +25 384 $240

14 X Tina Hicks 32378 689 74 67 76 93 99 82 +160

So just saying ur not telling the complete picture here.

Now you wanna see something to brag about?

Look at Holly Finley. A 835 rated and beat 19 others higher rated than her in Adv Women. Now that is some serious world class golf.

End quote.

I'm confused. What exactly does this mean?

Steeler should probably look at the numbers and people he is using as an example. Ratings are best examined for people who have been playing for a while. Holly has only been though 3 ratings iterations, and has made huge jumps each time.  This would lead me to belive her ratings doesn't accurately reflect her skill yet. So while she may have beat a lot of people with a higher rating, that does not mean she beat people with more skill.

Regardless, you two both represented KC very well. I think I speak for (almost) everyone when I say I'm proud you 2 are from our city.

I believe at the Mid Am, a Junior shot a round rating of 32...

Something is making me think there is a non-zero formula driven imposed bottom limit. Think it is somewhere in the 400's.  Could be totally off here, brain farting or such.  Timko?

That sounds right, but I don't remember seeing a bottom in the formula.

Good Luck Buddy! Have a good time. What states start with the letters A?
4, but one is more like hell than a state.  Another is more like heaven. One really starts with a B. Leaving Arkansas.

Spoken like someone who hasn't spent a good deal of time in the Ozarks.

Rosedale / Re: New Players 2012

Shorter than Rosedale, that's for sure.  I played out at Rosedale yesterday during the afternoon, and that course is set beefy!  Swope (for the most part) is set in a short configuration.

Ken, I like your picks as well.

For someone who has played a lot of NC golf, do you think there's a big advantage to the locals?  In terms of shooting low enough to come out with a title?  With courses that wooded, you have to get comfortable with some of those lines (maybe homey routes) over a lot of play, right?

General Banter / Re: what a links style course is or hlinc
« on: July 16, 2012, 02:11:46 PM »
Also, due to their coastal nature in Great Britain, links courses experience wild weather changes from day to day.  Rain and wind are generally expected at some point.

Links golf is also played a bit differently than the US style.  Due to the wind, and lack of trees, lower shots that roll can be employed.  While in recent years high ball players have done well there, the best way to get distance out of a shot into a 40mph headwind is to keep it on the ground.

General Banter / Re: Fall KC Tour

Sounds cool.  Note that basically every weekend day of September has a KCFDC or surrounding event on it, so you'll be going against that.  But there are plenty of people who don't play those that you'll be able to find.

Since the lake was low, I wanted to see if anyone found this disc. It's a see through red star disc with a rim the size of a firebird.
