I'm not going to actually plan for any skills competition. That said, I'd hang out, party (celebrate West Side victory), while doing some impromptu skills events.

Guts: The official disc of the game is the Pro model Frisbee.  (no one in their right mind would play Guts with a beveled edge disc)

If I were to run a distance event, there would be an accuracy component to it.  A center line down a restricted width  fairway. You're contest distance would equal the distance from tee to the disc landing point minus distance from landing point to the center line.

An unattached, after event, skills challenge party sounds good to me.

Let's toss in mini golf, TRC (throw run catch), freestyle, double disc court, guts and 4 or 5 holes of speed golf. Then we're putting together a good ol' Discathalon!  Can we find a beer sponsor?

All good... fun Jack!  No worries.  By the way, I hope Ryan picks you up so we can all hear your voice booming from Wyco to Cliff Drive.

Talk is cheap - scoreboard!! 8)

The scoreboard is currently blank (well it's got some work notes on it).   ;)   But yes, East is in possession of the trophy.  By early June we'll know if they can retain the Trophy by competing in the format that I originally intended for the event.  In any case, it will be fun.  It's ironic, what divides us, brings us together.  :)

I'm probably only 20% right now.

I took a look at the schedule. I don't think I'll be going to Des Moines.  I think I'll burn some disc golf credits on the Cap City Classic in Topeka, followed by the Paradise Diamond in Smithville.  Then earn some of them back by spending the holiday weekend with the family somewhere fun. West Side takes on the wrong-siders first weekend of June. Then I'll put in some practice rounds on the KCWO courses.

KC has no pros. No one practices here. I told LaRon that just the other day. No one has a practice regiment.

Speaking of LaRon, he has stepped up and has been out at Rosedale every Monday night at 5 to work with anyone willing to put in the time to practice. Come out if you can but be ready to work. There is a regiment he will teach you.

He is a great coach/mentor - in fact he was Eric McCabes. So far I have been shocked that more people have not come out to take advantage of this opportunity.

How long will we LaRon be doing these for?  I think 5:00 may just be a bit early.  I'd be interested if he could start at 6:00.

1-original
2-long
3-original
4-circle
5-short
6-original

For those that weren't there during the actual planting of the pins, "original" means nothing.  Me takes a stab though:
1 - long right?
3 - long?
6 - middle of the fairway (neither long right or tucked long left)?

Tracy, Cooper is probably going. Now if we can figure out a way to get Hemme to go...

That would be cool. And we'd all be playing in different divisions than we did for the first sexy mando tour.

I'm a possible maybe after my one year boycott of the event.  Not sad at all that Ewing is out of the rotation.  It's a good course and all, but somehow just doesn't fit my eye nor my game (what little there is).  Now Pickard, there's the only reason one needs to go play this event.

After opening my mouth and calling Loomis' 18 epic I shot a 17 at Municipal on hole 8 (380ft) during the GBO.  The winds were so bad when I was putting that I had to straddle put and just lean into the wind as I was on a hill and I just used the wind to hold me up.  I tried to lay up and the disc hit the ground by the basket and shook for a few seconds before taking off.  My second put was more of an approach than put.  I landed it on the ridge of the hill up wind of the pin a little further than I would have liked but I was very happy with it.  I threw my put and it hit center chains but when it hit the post it lifted up and took off  again this time coming to rest on the ridge about 15 ft down wind.  I threw my put and it to my excitement hit the chains perfectly and the disc which had about 6 inches to go.  I then started yelling "drop" as a surge of wind on top of the already gail force wind held the disc in place.  It then started to to very slowly start to rise.  It took off nearly rolling into the pond about 40 ft away.  This continued until I was robbed of another put that hit the bottom of the basket prior to lifting up and out of bounds.  I finally ended it with a nerve racking 50 ft  approach that was pinned against the hill at the base of the basket.  I ran full sprint to the disc with my mini in hand so I could prevent another serge from sending my poor putter airborne again.   From there I was able to place the disc carefully in the basket.

sounds like you should have taken advantage of the optional re-throw (plus one stroke) rule.

Utz. I'm shocked you don't already have a formula for evaluating Disc Golf IQ. Something like years played divided by courses played multiplied by the player's handicap...

divide by zero and all is clear as day.
