Also, I signed up for pm round at Rosie on the 24th. If I wanna play am round first and then pm round as I signed up for, I assume I can just show up in the am and pay the $10? And purchase more mullies if I want?

Yes, "first" round actually means any non-final 9 round.

So in this thread people speak of giving up spots to women.  As I read the posts about the first east v west there were women playing and it was part of tracy's original vision.  What happened?  Lack of interest from women and so all the spots went to men?  Just curious.   I haven't read the threads from later years so perhaps it is explained there.

I believe there is significant misunderstanding of the situation. I will explain it all at the board meeting in January.  Please attend, if you wish to hear the full and correct history from the horses mouth, so to speak.

So it's now allowed to recycle old captains?  It seems like the West is just rolling with this.

Personally, I'd like to see captaining done by different players each year. Following the completion of the 1st Team Challenge, I suggested we attempt to rotate captains and make it a one time deal for any individual. That suggestion was immediately met with resistance and good reasoning not to enforce such limitation. It is not my intention, nor was it ever my intention to enforce my opinion on this matter. As such, I stated last year that each side is in full control of how they select their captain, no restrictions, other than determining who the captain will be has to be done before the qualifying process for their side begins. Because, the captain on each side defines their teams player selection process.

By the way, being captain grants you an automatic spot on your team. You are the 1st qualified. Also, as captain, it is your choice, which rounds, if any, you will play in; all, none or some. No player is required or guaranteed to play any certain number of rounds.  Any restrictions or guarantees in this regard are strictly up to the captains for their team. Each team captain is free to create (or not) restrictions and/or guarantees independent of what the other team captain does.

So who's running this now? Not team captains, but the big picture. Serious question. Tracy? I'd love to see juniors and women added to the format. Great suggestion Joe! 20 player teams. I think this town can support that.

Eric, yes, I am the big picture guy for this still. I'll be glad to give you full history and explanation why the event has mutated into what is today. I intend to attend the next KCFDC board meeting to determine the best weekend for the event in 2015.  Hoping for early June, just as it has been for the past two years.  I'll be glad to talk more about the event then.

I don't think it was a rule either way for or against. I think he is just making it a rule.

Well, it was a rule the other way, based on my observation of the main PDGA match play event (I forget the name, atm).  And last year, the rule was a point of contention.  I am changing it, because it makes sense in the context of our event.

Joe, great idea to hold a mini match play event for the remaining qualifying spots on  the West Side.  That'll be interesting and exciting. I'm glad you're calling out the qualifying process now. It will give people a chance to start preparing.

This is an elitist event.  We have plenty of come one, come all and/or first come, first served tournaments.  I pushed format changes the past two years to make the event as simple as possible to manage and for others to understand. I believe the event is in good shape now. I want the 16 playing spots on each team to be coveted, highly sought after.  Expanding the rosters will only serve to diminish the value of qualifying for this event.  As such, let's not do anything to change the actual event format and let some tradition establish itself.

Is there a sign up form? I've seen pledge and sponser but not sheet with upgrade options and hoodies

This seems like an Ice Bowl question.

I'll post a detailing of rules and procedures and such in the next month or so.  However, same overall rules/guidelines as last year with two changes of note:

1) Captains may use no more than one PDGA event as a qualifier.
2) After a hole is complete, practice putting will be allowed.

Heads up for potential Captains: For 2015, West side will host alternate shot doubles on Saturday.  East Side will host best shot doubles (a.m.) and singles (p.m.) on Sunday.  Date hasn't been set.  I will coordinate with members of the KCFDC board on that decision.

All requests for divisional disorganization of this event should be submitted, in triplicate, to the Rules and Processes Committee. That group will promptly review your request and immediately file it in the next outgoing circular bin.

Thank you for your interest.   :P

He's also been playing since the 90's. (probably much longer, just what the PDGA has on file) To me, that does not say amateur in the least. AM needs to be redefined. Tough to do though!

Here's a little secret folks... It's the Professional disc golf association.

If you want purist amateur only events, the PDGA is not looking out for you, start the ADGA.

Also, consider that bold word, in more ways than one, anytime you are a part of any PDGA sanctioned event. Know the rules of the association you signed up for, play by them and act professionally.

This should put to rest any lingering concerns that Wyco is going to be removed for soccer fields.

James,  keep in mind that during the invite only period, anyone invited may sign up. All those signing up during the invite period must be accommodated by the TD.  As such, those signups affect what a TD will offer as div/pool limits when public registration is eventually opened.
