Barter Town / Wanted: Vibram Discs

I've never really considered throwing Vibram discs until I went out to the VO this year and actually felt and tossed around their discs a little.

Let's just say I'm interested in trying it out some more.

I'm looking to TRADE for some Vibram discs (preferably high weight and firm plastic) to give them a more fair chance without digging into the old pocketbook.

If you've got some you don't throw any more or just picked up somewhere random I'd be interested in taking a look at it. Let me know what what you like to throw. I really only have Innova/Discmania to trade.

General Banter / An Ode to Maple Hill

This post is mis-titled, it should have been, more correctly, called An Ode to the disc golfers of Kansas City.

Thanks to everyone who helped me get out to play the Vibram, it was truly a wonderful and challenging experience. Special thanks to TanK, Drew, and Ian, who generously encouraged me going by buying plastic from me or just simply dropping me some airfare offset funds. To Ted and Bryan, whose videos helped prepare me before I arrived. To the ThrOlatheans for teaching me how to play disc golf and to compete at a high level. And an extra special thanks to Fred Smith for schlepping me around Leicester, showing me the finer points of Massachusetts sea food, and talking course strategy to help me prepare for each round.

Undoubtedly, we have some of the finest club members and people in the entire country. Without your support and encouragement, I wouldn't have even thought to try to get out to Maple Hill. Now I can't wait to (maybe) get back next year.

To abruptly change subjects, if anyone of you ever has a chance to get out and play Maple Hill, you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you don't take said opportunity. It is a fantastic course, full of challenge and strategy and the kind of decision that you don't have to make on many other courses. How often, on a 700+ foot hole do you think to yourself, "man, should I throw a midrange or a fairway driver to avoid the big mistake?" Probably not often enough. This course makes you play golf. It isn't a throwers course, it is a golfers course. You have to think your way around it and execute your decisions with accuracy and without trepidation. Every part of your game is put to the test, and for that, it is a must play.

So that is all the sappy stuff and the plug for Maple. Let's play some golf!

Would like them to be at or near max weight, in upper good or better condition.

I DO NOT want the destroyers with the Vulcan top (the very distinctive slope on the edge).

I've got a lot of stuff I can trade for them, let me know what you like to throw.

Will there be league on the Holiday? And will it be regular or something special like doubles? Safari? Doubles safari? Backwards? One disc wango? Two disc triples? Wolf? Mob golf? Skins? Bingo bango bongo? Poker? Texas two-step? Wrong handers appreciation round? Or maybe  a game I've never even heard of...

On hole 5 at PC. I was throwing extra shots after the round and decided to try a silly roller to see what it could do and cut it towards 7s basket and/or 6s tee. I walked ALL OVER the area and could not find it anywhere. If you find it please message me on here. I got a new phone number and think that I have the old number on there still.

General Banter / Vibram Open - Disc Sale

So, I am qualified to go the Vibram Open (read: actually paid the $10 to try to qualify and was the only one until Jack used his foresight to sign up to be the second) and am really wanting to go but may not be able to because of the cost.

To try to swing things in my favor, and I only have a short period of time to do so as I need to sign up in the next week and a half if I want my spot, I am going to try to sell some plastic that I really like but that also might get a good price. I will try to be as objective in the descriptions as possible but before an agreement on price is set I would like to let you hold the disc yourself and decide if my description was fair.

First Run Star Xcalibur - 172g

2007 USDGC Star Rancho Roc - 180g
Yellow with a blueish-silver twin Roc stamp. Disc is NOT in collector condition and has been thrown. Only a few very minor nicks on the bead. One area on the leading edge with scuffing. Silver ink on the back that is almost faded already.

Sirius JLS - 175g
Black with a gold 2011 AM World Doubles Championship stamp. These things are super gummy and some throwers love them for that. Disc has been thrown, but not very much. Still has a bit of flashing and really only has the cosmetic flaws common to black discs. Silver ink... see above.

Champ Glow Metal Flake Teebird - 175g
Out of all this discs on this list this is the one that I have thrown the most as it was in my bag for quite a while. It is still in good to very good condition and is pretty cool just to look at. It has a blue 33rd Annual Wintertime Open stamp that has a nice image of a hole on the side of hill and, with the metal flaking, looks to be in the snow. No ink. Some damage along the leading edge but nothing too severe.

That's all I've got for now to list. I have a number of common discs that I may try to sell at leagues but they probably aren't worth listing on here. Shoot me a PM if interested or email me at cooper.arnold AT gmail.com.

Found and Lost / Found - Car Keys

Found some keys at rosey in the fairway of 12. Only one car of that make in the lot and it did not respond to the door opener.

Has a laser pointer attached to the chain.
