No contact information for these discs:

Red DX Beast: there is a name on it.

Z-Buzzz: No name or contact info.  Can be IDed easily

Also a Silver Pain with Remsen written on it along with a phone number that has no voice mail set up.

We have them here at DGW.

This is probably the best article about a disc golf community I've ever read, and it's about us!

Of course, offering a business for sale doesn't necessarily mean that the business will sell. And if it were to sell, it would only happen after negotiations between buyer and seller. What I'm saying is that I'm not sure what is going to happen if no buyer is found. I originally was thinking liquidation, but recently re-structuring the biz has some appeal. Stay tuned.

I wanted to share this with the forum public. As a member of the PDGA Board, reveiwing and voting for the Innovation Grants twice a year is one of the more pleasant tasks for me. If you have a good idea to help grow the sport, consider making application.

When paying for a membership online, a member has options: pick up at DGW or DD at no charge or having the mini and/or bag tag mailed at a cost of $2.50.

RR

Thanks Jack, yes you need to pick up the bag tag from our partner stores.

I know I'm a little slow on the uptake, but... this means that the renewal email that is sent stating that "your bag tag and membership mini will be in the mail tomorrow" is incorrect and we have to pick them up?

Can't we just give Texas back to Mexico already?  What a shame.  These people need to be banned from tourneys all together.

And people wonder why whenever they say they are going to texas I say I will give them $5 to build the wall.....

At the Red River; not the Rio Grande!

This may have been answered already, but can you play this weekend at any of the satellite courses without having first registered?  Can I bring my entry form and $$$ along and play?  I won't make it to DGW today is what I am saying, but would like to try and play this weekend for my first round.

People may show up, pay, and play. Players will receive a receipt and can pick up their player's packages at either DGW or at Ice Bowl Sunday at Rosedale on January 25th.

I have an UnderDOG disc from Wide Open 1992, XD.  Thanks for the note, I remembered it being a back it out something and rolling something.  I had some fun playing it for certain, couldn't remember the exact plan.  Otto was the last to attempt it I believe.  Hence my reference to him.  Nice to know not only the history of that, but also the Spiced Rum tradition!

Cool thing is Underdog started playing again this last year. Sidenote: he got Paul Ecklund into the game. Thanks to Jack, the spiced rum tradition, which got transfered to the Ice Bowl by Lynne and Kelly, continues.

Before moving here in 1992, Lynne and I would attend the Backing it Out and Rolling it Over New Year's Day celebration put on by Dave "Dog" Underwood. You'd "back out" the old year by playing Rosey backwards, and then "roll in"  the New Year by having to throw either rollers or tomahawks. (I think you had to putt upside down as well). Dog would always have a big batch of hot spiced rum, which later became a tradition for Ice Bowl that continues to this day.  Several people ran it after Dog, including Otto. I ran it a couple of times as well. One year there was snow, which kind of put a hurt on the "rolling it over" portion, and I believe the second round was played down under. And that is today's historical review, subject to the shortcomings of long-term memory.

That was for the Roll it back and do it over at rosedale, where you had it backwards and had to roll your first shot.  I miss that silliness.

OTTO?

Right, like Otto reads these things.....

General Banter / Re: Cleaning out pole holes.

I've had some success with banging the basket down into the hole over and over until it pushed the stuff further down far enough to lock it. However, this didn't work when sticks and stones had intentionally been put into the anchor. This is not very subtle, but the baskets are sturdy.

Ideally, we will have enough staff members, so that all who want to play some golf, get to.

Wasn't Cinderblock involved last time with beer? They're legit. We might also try KC Bier Co as they're newer. Big Rip was involved with an event at Thornfield earlier in the year as well.

I'd be happy to help out with registration, merchandise, raffle, or whatever. Do I still get to play at some point?

The date for the main KC Ice Bowl is January 24-25 at Rosedale. We're shooting to raise a cool $10K this year, a mere $800 more than last's year all-time record. Readers of this form will probably know that Jack Lowe has initiated discussion about holding satellite fund-raising events at other courses in towns farther away from KC. Regardless of how this pans out (and I'm hoping that it does), we will still need volunteers at Rosedale, especially on Sunday, January for the traditional Ice Bowl celebration.

If you can help on Sunday, we need assistance for setting things up, player registration and check-in, chili contest registration, merch sales, ancillary events help, raffle/ctp ticket sales, scorecard checking, next round confirmation checking, controlling trash, deploying the final round, and so on and so on.

Give me a call, text, or email if you can help out or you have any questions.

Anyone interested in helping with sponsorship (not just money, but things like a big generator, soft drinks, food, beer, etc) or hitting up friends, family, and co-workers to support the cause by giving pledges, here are links to:

It's officially not happening this year. Hoping to bring it back next year with a slightly revamped format. Thanks for the interest.
