General Banter / Re: Designer Info
« on: February 10, 2006, 08:54:48 AM »
Down under: James Wallace and John Buckle, with assists from Jay R and others.

Water Works: Jim Kreeger and Ace Mason.

Rosedale: Ace was the primary guy I think, but likely there were others. Before my time here!

Swope: originally designed by Tom Ingle. Dan Cashen is most reponsible for the current design.

I think you're correct on Olathe (Tom Butler knows this story better than I) and Wyco. Jack has been the chief designer at Cliff, but has listened to many along the way.

Rick

Quote from: "eupher61"
I need information on who designed each course here in KC area.

I know WyCo  Mike  Wesley, Jake Carmack, and Kevin Montgomery  Rosie--Ace Mason   Down Under--Jay (right??)   Cliff--Jack L mostly  Olathe--Ned Smethers et al   BV Jim K and Dan...but, who should be credited with Swope?  Water Works (Ace?  Hal??)

If this info isn't right as it stands, please correct!

Tournaments / Ready for Ice Bowl?
« on: January 18, 2006, 12:19:40 PM »
What Jack said below. In additon, you can download a entry/donation form on the homepage of this site:
http://kcfdc.org/docs/06icebowl.pdf

Please note you can drop your entries off at Disc Golf World and get your players package starting Friday afternoon. We cannot accept credit cards for Ice Bowl. Checks to the KCFDC. Also, you can pay your PDGA dues on the same check if you wish. For more infomation, please contact me at 816.471.3472.

Roll call: Who's going to be at Ice Bowl?  Who's bringing chili? Who's got something to donate for the CTP?

Remember, no wimps or whiners and no excuses for not attending, although if you can't make it, a nice donation will allow you to be a generous wimp.

Thanks for reading.

Rick

]We need many donations for the CTP prizes, please ask all your favorite places to help spolnsor in the form of gift certifcates to help us raise over $3000 this year for Harvester's largest food pantry.  For Tax deductible checks that will go directly towards the fund amount, make towards the Bishop Sullivan Center, this DOES NOT count towards the entry of the event, but will still be greatly appreciated!  Start your businesses to work towards their tax deductions for 2006 by getting a check to the BSC today!  And help us have a blast by getting your local businesses involved with the biggest most fun tourney of the year.

Also I would like to see at least 50 people new to a "tournament" at this year's Ice Bowl, after all who shouldn't play their first tournament without the opportunity to buy Milligan's?

:)

Call Dick Parker to organize your sponsorship at 913.208.2607 or call me 913.485.5123

Thanks,

Tournaments / Pre Register for the RAC at Rosedale on Saturday
« on: September 16, 2005, 02:08:28 PM »
Looks like the weather is going to be great for this weekend events at Rosedale. While the RAC has never reached its capacity of 90 people, many people have expressed keen interest in attending this year, and we already have 10 pre-registrants.

To make sure you're not the 91st person who wants to play, I'll be at Rosedale tomorrow (Saturday)  at 3:00 near the first tee to accept early registrations, as I suspect many of you will be playing both events.

If you  prefer, you can pre-register at Disc Golf World today or tomorrow until 2:15. Please call first if you can't make it by 5 p.m. today.

Tournaments / The RAC 9...Rosedale Amateur Championships
« on: August 29, 2005, 03:51:42 PM »
I'm pleased to announce the return of the Rosdeale Amateur Championships (The RAC) on Sunday, September 18 at Rosedale Park. I'll be posting flyers and handing out entry forms shortly. The information contained on the flyers follows. Because I'm trying to use PDGA player ratings as a guide to make the divisions more fair, find the list of all KC area PDGA players and their ratings below. Give me a call with questions.

Awards
Personalized trophy discs (to be delivered AFTER the event) in all divisions where there are at least three people playing. Also DGWN Dough, redeemable for disc golf merchandise on site and at Disc Golf World, will be awarded to nearly 1/2 of the field.

Divisions
Please note that this is not a PDGA-sanctioned event and is open to all players. However, we will be using player PDGA ratings as guidelines to help us ensure the fairest and most competitive play within each division. We will also use those guidelines that allow pros to play in amateur divisions. As always, you may always opt to play in a higher division. Give us a call to discover your player rating and/or to discuss which division is the best fit for you.

Tournaments / Kansas City Disc Golf Day May 21 at Water Works
« on: April 26, 2005, 04:31:00 PM »
Hey Everyone,

We're trying something different this year. Instead of doing World's Biggest, we're holding the first Kansas City Disc Golf Day on May 21 at Water Works.  We still want to get as many players out as possible, and hope to sell many packages that will reflect a hometown design. To take a look at it, go to www.kcfdc.org. Below are the details of the poster that will soon be up on the courses. Please register for this event as soon as you can. We'll be distributing flyers starting tonight at Swope Park. The packages will consist of all-cotton shirts and Ching full color Rocs and Aviar Putters. The KC Disc Golf Day will serve as a fundraiser for this year's Wide Open.

In conjunction with the KCDGD is the annual KCFDC picnic. It's free to members. Also, we're having a membership drive that day. Anyone who buys a DGD package, can join the KCFDC for $15, and then enjoy the picnic.

Plan now to attend and to bring lots of people with you.

If you want to help with the picnic and the activities that will go with it, contact Dirk Hacker at deh@stowers-institute.org. Contact me at rick@discgolfworld.com or 816.471.3472 for registration information or other questions.

Thanks,

Rick Rothstein
