Prairie Center / 01-18-10 GLOW
« on: January 19, 2010, 06:29:19 AM »
Eight out for a slush fest round. Light winds, temps in the mud thirties, and heavy fog was observed.

Bryan Guthrie & Wes Lubberts  46 for $25
Deano & Anthony Puryear  47 for $15
Cooper Arnolod & Spencer Weatherholt  51
Tom Butler & Thomas Spencer  53

No ACE struck so with eight getting in the fund increases to $308.

My apologies to my card last night for my behavior, or, as Cindy put it, "acting like a two year old".

Seven more Monday GLOWS left. The fog may lift by then.... ???

Supposed to around 6 degrees at 6:00 this evening. I remember a few years ago Arturro, Bobby, and me played a Monday GLOW round when it was around the same temp. I think Bobby lost a toe.  :o

I lost a light green pro boss on the right side of hole 18's fairway Monday night at Prairie Center.  :'(

If any of you snowmen find it tomorrow I should be there for it's return. Thanks!

Thanks to Bob Hayett for clearing some tees yesterday and to Cindy for clearing 10 more today. Upon inspection a few minutes ago ALL tees are clear and dry. Before stepping on the boxes tonight try to knock the snow off your shoes to help keep the boxes as clean as possible.

Come on out if you've been Jonesin for some DG. You won't find cleaner tee boxes within 200 miles of Prarie Center.

No pins moved this week so tonight we play:
1 left
2 island from short box
3 long

6 short from short box

8 long from short box
9 left
10 short

Prairie Center / 12-21-09 Winter Solstice GLOW
« on: December 21, 2009, 06:54:09 AM »
Today is the Winter Solstice. What that means is after today the daylight increases steadily until the Summer Solstice on June 21. It also is the first day of Winter. In ancient times people would celebrate the Winter Solstice with feasting, dancing, and burning huge Yule logs. We'll probably do some Gregorian chants, burn some not so huge Yule logs, and throw some plastic.

I moved some pins last night so for GLOW tonight the pins and boxes shall be:

1 left
2 island from short box
3 long
4 left
5 long
6 short from short box
7 middle
8 long from short box
9 left
10 short
11 right

Happy Solstice  ;D

Josh Engle & Andy Lewis  49 for $14
Cade Garrelts & Dick Parker  52

Prairie Center / 11-30-09 GLOW
« on: November 30, 2009, 12:49:14 PM »
Tonight the non-typical hole will be 17. Look for the portable to the northwest of the practice basket as you drive in. :P

The pins/tees will be:

1 right
2 short from long box (remember OB is on or left of trail)
3 short (remember OB is on or left of trail)
4 island (remember OB is on or left of trail or in street, use drop zone of your in street on your drive)
5 short (remember on or across sidewalk is out)
6 left from long box (remember on or across trail or sidewalk is out)
7 middle
8 left from long box (remember OB is on or across trail)
9 right
10 right (remember OB is on or across trail)
11 left
12 middle
13 middle
14 right
15 left (pond)(remember OB is on or across trail)
16 right
17 to portable northwest of practice basket (all grass is safe)
18 short from short box

The OB's for GLOW are typically if you are on or across any of the trails near any given basket. All streets and parking lots are OB. If your card can't decide how to play a shot, play a provisional and we'll talk about it after the round.

Dry and temps around 45 with light breezes should make for a good round.

Prairie Center / 11-16-09 GLOW
« on: November 16, 2009, 09:21:49 PM »
Heavy mist/fog and temps around 37 made for some nasty Golf weather. 9 players out and no ACE hit, so the ACE fund grows to $205.

Cooper Arnold & Double Cali Coop  48 for $32
Tom Butler & Anthony Puryear  49 for $18
Cade Garrelts & Dave Hemmeline  51
Josh Warner & Josh Engle  54
Dick Parker & Tom Spencer  56

Any feedback on the 1989 version of hole 18....? We birdied so I liked it.

Prairie Center / 11-09-09 GLOW
« on: November 10, 2009, 08:17:39 AM »
I can't remember a Monday Olathe GLOW with better weather than was experienced by the 24 GLOW meisters last night. The wind was non-existant for most of the round, the ground was dry, and the temps were in the high 50's. A light rain started just as I was returning my portable to it's proper resting place in my backyard.

We played to my portable on 16, which stretched the hole out to near 675'. I didn't hear of any team doing better than a four on it.  :o

Three teams wound up tied for first at 6 down. Some sort of playoff occurred, and that was that.

Kevin Simpson & Bryan Guthrie                                                 48 for $52 (won playoff)
Matt Hayes & Dick Parker    48 for $28
Cooper Arnold & Ben Taylor   48 for $28
Tom Butler & Josh Warner     51 for $6
Anthony Puryear & Tom Spencer   51 for $6
Deano & Dan Leweke   52
Spencer Weatherholt & Mark Albers  54
Andy Lewis & Cade Garrelts  54
Leo Daprato & Shane Whitaker  54
Suzanne Taylor & Ash Lawrence  55
Josh Engle & Levi Rider  56
Mike Allen & David Koenig  57

No ACE was struck, so with 20 folks adding $1 each to the fund, it increases to $196.  :-*

Thanks to Dick, Mark, and Cindy for helping with the portable, and to Cindy once again for helping with sign ups, light sales, and payout.

Feedback on the 16 placement is encouraged. We will play it again sometime in the future. I will try to have one non-standard hole such as that each week. Hope everyone had fun. That is why we are there after all.  :D

Prairie Center / 11-02-09 GLOW
« on: November 02, 2009, 09:20:44 PM »
A brief light shower didn't keep the 25 golfers from having some fun on the opening night of season five, Prairie Center GLOW. The wind died down to nothing, and the temps were in the fifties, making for some good DG. The walking tacos were delicious (thanks Cindy!), as were the cold boulevards (thanks Cooper!).

Bryan Guthrie & Double Cali Putthrie   43 for $56
Wes Lubberts & Chris Timko              46 for $30
Jack Lowe & Cooper Arnold               46 for $30
Bob Hayett & Bobby Villareal             47 for $14
Tom Butler & Dan Quinn                   48
Andy Lewis & Kevin Simpson             48
Dick Parker & Josh Warner                49
Leo Daprato & Matt Hayes                49
Billy Nelson & Brad Lenheim               51
Ash Lawrence & Deano                     52
Cade Garrelts & Dan Leweke              52
Anthony Puryear & Josh Engle            54
Slim Belcher & Levi Rider                   54

Welcome, all the first time Olathe GLOWERS.
There was no ACE hit so the ACE fund increases by $23 to $176.
See ya next week.  ;D

This coming Monday (Nov 2, 2009) season five of Olathe GLOW commences. The format is random draw dubs. We play for $5 per person (100% payout) and there is an optional $1 ACE fund if you want to get in. The ACE fund is at $153. We will draw partners at 6:00 sharp. If you show up after we have drawn, you may not get in. I have lights available.

Come on out.

Below is the final 08-09 season stats and post.......

Here are the stats from the fourth season (08-09) of Olathe Prairie Center GLOW. We had 216 rounds played. 32 different players came out over the 18 week season. The ACE stands now at $153.

In the stats below I have only included players with at least 4 rounds played. We had 3 players (Bryan Guthrie, Josh Warner, and Cooper Arnold)with perfect attendance. The top earner title came down to the final round with a close competition between Bryan Guthrie and Leo Daprato. We had several 1000+ rated players participate this season.

AVG SCORE   # RDS     COIN WON
Dave Hemmeline      45.5        7           $136.50

Anthony Puryear     54.5        7            $14.00

Now we can look forward to those hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer DG. The wheel in the sky keeps turnin.....

I hope everyone enjoyed our little GLOW rounds this season. Thanks to all the players and most of all to my lovely assistant TD Cindy, and her hairy assistant Mr. Gus. A special shout out to Andy for bringing some CTP plastic, and to Deano for always raising the fun quotient. It was great to see some nomadic ThrOlatheans (Leo, Cooper, Kevin, Dick) traveling from Lawrence,Topeka, and Stanley every week. It was real kewl to see new players (Josh, Anthony) joining the ranks of the dark seekers too. Again Brothers, thanks. We do it for you.

We'll kick it off again on November 2, until then, throw some D on it, and, LIGHTS OUT!
