« on: November 29, 2005, 07:18:17 AM »
It was windy and it was cold and there were snow flurrys but that didn't stop the 7 golfers from getting in a round of GLOW. The wind was out of the southwest at 20-30 and the temperature hovered around 28. Our ACE fund is slowly growing, $48, so come on out and try to hit it in a round of GLOW! Only 17 more weeks of Monday night GLOW left....

Bryan Guthrie and Fred Smith shooting 51 for $35
Tom Butler and Tavish Sanders shooting 59
Dick Parker and Dean Uhlman shooting 59
Andy Lewis and Cali Andy shooting 62

Prairie Center / Holes 12-16
« on: November 17, 2005, 02:26:36 PM »
Bob Hayett asked me to post a message about the new course layout at Prarie Center. Holes 12 thru 16 have been modified. The new layout will allow play without risk to parked cars, soccer moms, and soccer kids. The new hole 15 shoots over the corner of the pond. The holes should be ready to play on Saturday league, so come on out and check it out. We plan on putting in some alternate pins to stretch out a couple of holes, and possibly an alternate tee box to make for a pro level pond shot. We were restricted by the city on some things, but I think the new layout is much safer to the non-playing park users, and is probably going to be a little more interesting to the Disc Golfers as well. I'd like to aplaud Bob for getting this done, and  to thank Andy Lewis, Bryan Guthrie, Brad Myers, Rick Rothstein, Pete Cashen, and the City of Olathe Parks and Rec for all the extra effort. Let's Play!

Tournaments / CLUB Championships-picnic
« on: September 22, 2005, 07:59:54 AM »
Is there a club championship and picnic this fall?

I had an idea for a format that I would like to throw out....

Since we have the best club in the country, why not have a club championship week?
Round 1 would be at Olathe League on Monday.
Round 2 would be at Swope League on Tuesday.
Round 3 would be at Rosedale League on Wednesday.
Round 4 would be at Waterworks League on Thursday.
Round 5 would be at Wyco League on Friday.
The final round and picnic would be at Cliff Drive on Sunday.

I know a lot of folks couldn't or wouldn't want to play every league night, but I think this format would make for a great week of play, leading up to the final round and picnic/party.

25 out on the Prarie enjoying some beautiful summer weather and some DG. A light breeze and more moderate temps made for some good golfing. A large group stayed for skins and putt putt (it's worth staying just to listen to Otto, Beckett, and Mike D. come up with the rules) after the round. Come on out for league. Summer is slipping away.......
For the second week in a row Leo, from Topeka, hit metal on hole #5. Last week the chastity belt, this week the basket, earning him some dollars.

Tournaments / ACE fund

If the ACE fund in the City of Fountains isn't hit, it is donated to the club? I thought the way the Emporia club had the "ring of fire" for the ACE fund was cooler.

16 out for league on a hot, calm evening. An interesting thing happened during the round. Ben Taylor and the lovely Susan Taylor both signed up for league, but were on different cards. Ben was on my card, and on hole 17 Ben hits a 150 foot par save shot. Whooping and shouting, Ben was heard all the way over at hole 3 by Susan and her card. Seconds later, Susan hits a 120 foot shot! There is always something happening at Olathe league that makes you just scratch your head and say wtf?

Otto shot a hot -11 last night in the near perfect conditions.

Come on out to Monday league. The ACE fund is recovering from multiple hits this summer.

Prairie Center / 07-04-05 league and stolen basket
« on: July 05, 2005, 07:55:07 AM »
11 out for a 4th of July round of random draw dubs. Mild breeze early in the round with calm conditions in the latter portion of the round.

OPEN (11)
Tony & Dan        46
Arturo & Dustin   46
Tom & Cali Tom  47
Brad & Caleb      49
David & Doc       50
Angie & Bob       51

Upon arrival it became evident that the #2 basket has been stolen. Bob will be informing the Parks and Rec department who in turn will probably get with the police. In my opinion, the scumbag(s) that stole the basket probably plays Disc Golf, and may even be reading this. The money the thief will spend on an attorney to keep his sorry ass out of jail after being caught could have been used to legally obtain his own basket. If anybody sees a basket in somebody's back yard, check it out and see if it's
Olathe's #2. If anybody knows who stole the basket, contact me (913-829-5912) or Bob Hayett, or any of the club officers. We just want the stolen basket returned.

If you are reading this post and you STOLE the basket, you would be better off by returning it. You will not be able to enjoy the basket because IT IS NOT YOURS, and eventually YOU WILL BE CAUGHT. Do you want to risk being known as a thief? You will have bad Karma on all your shots on all your future rounds of golf. It's possible there is surveilance footage of the park entrance, so your license plate may be identified. Do you want Paul Morrison's office coming down on you? You should return the basket to the park before it's too late. RETURN THE BASKET TODAY.
