I hope the captains can each post their team members list a few day before the event. It will be interesting to look at the match-ups in advance.

I set the practice basket myself. I double checked it that day, and then the next day when I arrived and putted on it, I also checked the lock. It was definitely locked.

I don't know from personal experience, but a friend of ours said he had learned how to pick locks and with the correct tool it isn't difficult.

I also haven't tried it to see if it will unlock since the basket went missing, but if it was popped open with a hammer strike, it may not function properly.

It is possible someone with a key unlocked it and took it. That particular lock is different from the other 18 out there, and only the City and I have a key to it.

I don't think it was an "inside job". I don't think anyone is pissed about the course going in, nor pissed at us for installing it. We have had three baskets stolen in Olathe since 1989. I think someone just wanted one at their house or farm and figure the City's insurance will cover it and aren't afraid of being caught.

It just sucks for us that play out there, because now we don't have a place to practice putting and warm up near where we park.

Who is this Everyone that likes the backwards set-up you speak of?

I'm not Everyone, but I am Someone, and I'm a traditionalist that likes the normal set-up, and can even tolerate some added OB lines!

No, the thieves will be in trouble. Let's just say that extreme measures are in place and an example will be made of the scum bags that steal our baskets.

Sounds like it may not have been locked properly then.....

It was locked. I personally set the basket in place and locked it down. I triple checked it. It was most probably picked.

The practice basket at Lakeside Hills has been stolen. There is a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the low life piece of sh1t that took it. It looks like the theft would be considered a class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in the county jail.

Attention all players coming out for Coopers sale and for league: APPLY DEET! The ticks are out in full force.

5:30 ish tee time tonight.....

The name is actually Lakeside Hills rather than Lakeside Shores.

It is very likely the City will be working on digging tee boxes and setting forms next week, and even on Friday. It may be prudent to skip playin there for a few weeks, or until they are done.  :-\

There certainly is a large number of Westsiders at the top of the OPEN leaderboard.....

Jake--East    Stiles-- East     :o

Dick, Tank, and Zane is what I was referring to. Fossil division I hadn't considered.

A BIG thanks to Cooper Arnold, Brian Corneilius, Brian Taylor, and Mark Albers for working this evening on cutting in an entirely new hole 3 fairway. We also trimmed a few low hangers on 17, relocated 16's tee approximately 60' back, mowed it and trimmed a few low hangers, and lastly we relocated hole 15's tee approximately 60' back, mowed it, cleared brush out of the fairway and trimmed more low hangers.

With these tasks done the tee box tweaking should be complete, and the concrete tees can be placed. Over the next few months/year we will gradually add alternate pin placements and refine the fairway edge definitions. In the current setup, the course can now be considered a par 57, as holes 1, 15, and 16 can be called par 4's. (at least in my opinion) When we get some alternate pins in, we will be able to make the course from par 54 up to par 61.  8)

This Monday we will be playing the finalized tee locations, hopefully for the last time on the turf surface. If all goes well, the tee boxes will be formed, poured, and back filled during the month of May while we play Prairie Center, and when we return to Lakeside Hills in June the temperatures will be up and the scores will be low.  8)

I am going to be on hole 3 today around 4:30 til dusk doing some chop choppa-draggy pile up, and could use some help if anybody has an hour or two to volunteer. If all goes well, some additional chop-choppa, draggy piley will be done on hole 15 as well.

Bring a chainsaw and/or weed wacker, gloves, if ya got them. If you have a chainsaw and want some firewood, this will be a good oppurtunity.....   ;D
