I'd be in favor of not having any OB on 13 and 14.

Entrys are coming in. The long ranger is calling for sunny, 92, and winds around 9. This is classic Olathe tourney weather. Pre-reg is probably a good idea if you are thinking about playing. Let's fill er up!

A productive day of course enhancement occured on Saturday, July 26 at Prairie Center Park in Olathe.

Approximately 4 cubic yards of shredded wood chips were placed around tees 1, 4, and 8, as well as the 2 basket on the island. These locations were some of the more heavily eroded on the course.

The fabulous DR mower made yet another appearence and with Andy and Adam guiding it around made many of the back holes far easier to navigate. If anybody hasn't seen one of these, it's basically a walk behind, self propelled brush hog. This is the most signifigant task that got done. Anybody that plays Olathe owes Andy and Adam a big thanks for the DR.

Low hanging dead limbs were removed on hole 14 left.

Dead fall and some dead branches were removed on holes 12 and 13.

Hole 15 tee box had been partially obstructed by branches on a willow growing beside the pond. This was taken care of with some selective pruning and the denting of Andy's truck.

Hole 8 tee had also been partially obstructed by low hanging branches. Some selelective pruning occured here.

Some of the barbed wire fence line was repaired (Andy again).

Bryan G. hit multiple areas with his weed eater.

I probably missed some of the tasks, but most were included above.

A crew of 7 humans and one small canine worked most of the morning. Andy was there early, but I would say most everyone worked between 4 and 5 hours. After the work we enjoyed a picnic with Oklahoma Joes and drink, and most went to the Redneck Yacht Club for a relaxing afternoon on the Lake of Gardner.

Andy Lewis (get r done)
Adam (I had his last name but...?)it's his DR we get to use.
Tom Butler
Cindy Butler (runner, provider of refresments, and shoveling dudette)
Bryan Guthrie
Dean Uhlman
Wes Lubberts (when your young you can shovel huge amounts of stuff)

Mr. (it's my park) Gus

Thanks to all that came out. Baskets are for the most part in round 1 settings, so come out Monday and give it a whirl.

Shots that landed in the sun were brutal.

The delight series is fun. The 30 minute lunch/break is just right. Bring a picnic lunch, take a break, and tee it up again. Get in two rounds, lunch, and a CTP in less than 5 hours. Add some monkeys whooping, some jackasses baying, some wallabys hopping, and the afternoon delights are the bomb. Good job Dan!

If I lived closer I'd prolly split my time between the two leagues.

Hole #1 tee box at Olathe is conveniently located near the parking lot, restrooms, and two shelter houses. The alternate tee box (which is concrete, like the other 17 tee boxes and 4 alternate tee boxes) is just west of the playground. Come on out for league and enjoy the frequently mowed grass, big yellow baskets, and concrete tees. Of course, several of the top players in KC frequent this league, so be prepared and bring your "A" game.

AHA-we had 17 as well at Cliff on Monday!

That's great! We all enjoy the concrete tee boxes, very short grass, and frequently moved baskets at Olathe, but cliff is fun too. It's great we have so many places to fling.

Found and Lost / Lost tee rex @ rosedale #1
« on: June 26, 2008, 03:19:52 PM »
Tuesday I lost a blue star tee rex on #1 rosedale around lunch. Later that day I got a call on my home message machine from a guy named Joe who said he'd found it. He didn't leave a call back number and I don't have caller id at home, so if anybody knows Joe, have him call me again.

Tough topic.
If  pro 2 is adopted, and masters is not a division, who decides where the split occurs? The mini director, the board, or ? Does it vary from mini to mini?
Would the split be based off of PDGA ratings, or local ratings? A ratings based split forces the mini director to somehow verify a players rating. It also means sombody has to keep the ratings. John has been doing this, but do we want to have somebody doing this continuously and indefinetely?
The players at the cutoff level (for instance if the split was 950 and they have a 951 rating) will not be real happy, but I suppose you can't please all the people all of the time.
Whatever we can do to make for a better KC disc golf experience, I'm in favor of. It's already great.

A recent study found the average American golfer walks about 900 miles a
year. Another study found American golfers drink, on
average, 22 gallons of beer a year.
That means, on average, American golfers get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Kind Of Makes You Proud.

Prairie Center / league choices on Monday

Now that the cliff drive league is starting up on Mondays, it's great we have a choice in where we want to play every Monday.

If you want to come play a course with concrete tees, and manicured/mowed grass, come on out to Olathe.

Remember when the time change occurs in the fall, we will start up GLOW as well.

Will there be a pre-reg thing going? If so, can the registration list get populated on the PDGA site?

It's 13 days away..... sun burn open.... "it puts the lotion on it's skin."

If the city decides to pull the b-ball court out, I would suggest not putting
any disc golf activity in the area. Even though we (the disc golfers) did not suggest the b-ball court be removed, the disc golf activity will be viewed by the b-ball court patrons as the reason they don't have a nice b-ball court anymore.

General Banter / Tulsa golfer injured

I know some people know a golfer, Richard Mitchell from Tulsa here in KC. He is a nice guy. I just read on the PDGA discussion page that Richard was in a motorcycle accident last week in Tulsa on his way home from playing. It sounds like he was hurt pretty bad. Please take a minute and pray for him and his recovery.
