It is a shame that one of the oldest and most beautiful parks in the metro has been reduced to a place for law breakers to dump their trash, and occasionally their murder victims' lifeless bodies. It is always depressing to go to a place with such potential and see it abused like that, fo sure. We can all go out on an upcoming workday and pick up some trash though.  8)

Jordan is correct. There is no need to continually post documentation that proves Kansas is the superior place to live, when everyone already knows that.  ;D

As for a distance and putting. I'd say the East would win both. But, where is the #1 tag currently?  :P

talk is cheap......

KCMO shcool district lost accrediation on January 1, 2012
% of State's population living below poverty level: MO is 11.8%,  KS is 10.5%
CNBC report on State by Sate Quality of Life 2011: MO is #16, KS is #11

The list can go on and on.... the east did win last year, and I won't be surprised if they do again this year, but that's more a product of the format than the overall skill level of the golfers. I think both sides have some pretty decent players. Of course the majority of higher rated players in the metro do reside on the west side, at least based on current PDGA information....

Arturro                  1008                              Jake Bowen            990
Tank                      1000                              CD                          986
Shanan Carson     987                                Mike Murphy           975
Joe Hesting           984                                Fred Smith              968
Loomis                  978                                Mike Thomas           966
Heberto Villareal   977                                Jose Ossa               964
Cooper Arnold      975                                 Jamie Barry            946
Brian Guthrie        970

I know there are many really good players that don't show up in PDGA stats, but the odds makers would have to favor the West side based on these facts.  :P This is all in good fun, don't take it personal.  ;D

There were only eight players and one non-playin crip out on this Monday. The temps were in the mid 40's with North winds around 9mph.

No ACE was struck, so with all in the fund grows to $44.

I am still trying to figure this all out. I am slowly creeping up to a year playing, if you count winter time where I did not throw a disc. I usually look where I want to throw it, say a silent prayer and throw. Does it work? Heck no! I try to watch the vets throwing and I tend to ask a lot of questions, which can probably get annoying. I need to find this Church of the Flying Disc God!

Something I think helps develop your throwing is to play catch. Another thing that will improve your game fast is to take all your discs and go throw them out in an open filed such as a soccer field or baseball field. Playing rounds doesn;t give you enough reps to learn how to make the discs go where you want them to.

Please be signed up by 5:15 at the latest this evening. 5:30 tee and play without delay.

If your dues aren't current, be prepared to pay the extra $1, and please bring exact change.  ;D

We'll have a short discussion about an upcoming workday, so we can have a safety meeting, and develop a work plan.  ;D

Zane needs to be on the West team.  8)
What's this west team you speak of Tom?

Kevin, there is an annual competition between the KCFDC members on the Missouri side of the KC metropolitan area and the Kansas side.

There is a thread on this forum which has discussions pertaining to the game and how to qualify for a spot on the teams. It's a fun game.

Lakeside Hills / Re: 04-01-13 BIRDLAND MINI
« on: April 04, 2013, 08:12:21 PM »
That's a good question. I asked how to handle it a few weeks ago and haven't got an answer, but the more I thought about it, the more I think it should be separated. The chances for an ACE at Birdland are far less than at PC. I just think keeping them separate is the most logical, fair, and pure. Also, if we elect to run two leagues per week in Olathe, having the two funds established will be simpler.

I've been called a dictator before, so just please don't claim we have weapons of mass destruction and invade Olathe, and find me hiding under a dog house and hang me.  ???

I don't want to offend anyone, but could the event calender be modified to show the start time for all the Mondays in April in Olathe to be 5:30, and for folks to be signed up by 5:15? Please?
