General Banter / Is anyone going to see Widespread Panic on friday?
« on: October 05, 2010, 11:39:47 am »
I am. Can't wait, it will be my first time seeing them live and I've heard nothing but good things.

Once it's over, my band Mouth is playing the after party 2 blocks over at Cross Town Station! Going to be an epic night.

Here's the flyer:

General Banter / Disc golf & the MoKan music festival?
« on: May 28, 2010, 01:58:51 pm »
Hey guys, some of you know me as a drummer / musician. Anyway, my band is playing at a cool local festival called the MoKan Music fest this July.  The festival is from July 8th - 10th in Pleasant Hill, Mo.  (

I was wondering if the KCFDC & a few members would have any interest in setting up a temp 9 hole course on the festy-grounds. I have a message into the coordinators, seeing if there is enough room.  I'm sure I could hook up a few backstage passes for people who would be willing to be responsible for such a thing. That would include the band percs, like free beer for the entire weekend. My only concern would be having a bunch of loose baskets out there... even though the festival will have a nice security barrier.

I bet you wrangle some new players as well as get a few seasoned players interested in the club. If we jump on this now, we can advertise the fact that there will be golf at the fest. That way kids show up with their clubs.

I would be willing to volunteer for a few hours on friday / saturday to take new players for a round, or run a KCFDC table or something.

I'm usually way too busy with work / music to get out to any work days, but I am a card carrying, dues paying member that is trying to help spread the good word. I'll know more about the possibilities of this once I hear back from the organizers, but I have a feeling they'll jump all over this.

Anyone interested in helping out and chilling out with good local music?

General Banter / Disc golf in Colorado in late april?
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:56:39 pm »
Is there anyone out there familiar with CO based DG and how playable the courses are depending on the weather? My band is playing 4/19 in Fort Collins and 4/20 in Breckenridge and I'll be chillin in between shows. Anyone know of any courses in Denver that would be possible to play in snow? I'm not exactly sure what the weather will be like but I don't want to miss an opportunity to throw plastic at a high altitude. Cheers

General Banter / My band's next appearance, Jan 29th!
« on: January 20, 2010, 10:47:45 am »
My band Mouth and I are throwing ourselves a 1st birthday party on Jan 29th at the Jazzhaus in Lawrence. There will be a variety of special guests and producers involved to help make this our best show ever. A few disc golfers have been out to a few of our shows and have all loved them.

You'll find all the details here:

Here is the flyer:

And if you want to download one of our albums for free to check us out:

Cheers, I'll see you at the Ice Bowl, still hung-over.

If you have a half hour to kill, check it out. It's a genre mash for sure. The bass player from my band produced it, his brother directed it, and his dad is the cool old dude in the glasses. There are some insane shots of Downtown KC, the scene where they are hanging the dude off the ledge is the 909 Walnut building's penthouse.

Watch the whole thing here:

My band Mouth will be on the MidDay Medly on 90.1 KKFI at 11am for an on air performance and interview.

Should be fun.

General Banter / Victor Wooten @ The Granada Tonight
« on: September 18, 2009, 01:53:00 pm »
Anyone else going? I'll be heading to L town right after work to play a round at Centennial before the show...

- If you're wondering who Victor Wooten is...

Hey all, my group played one of the best shows yet, and we got it all on tape. We multi-track record this and mix it down on an analog console... Feel free to share this with who ever you think might enjoy it, and tell me what you think.

If you do, my group is playing at The Base Gallery from 6pm - 9pm tonight. We play a mixture of a bunch of musics, and use a lot of improv. There is no cover, and Boulevard is sponsoring the event. Anyone and everyone is welcome! The featured artist is Joshua Rizer, a very talented portrait artist.

General Banter / Calling all Musicians & Artists
« on: November 01, 2008, 11:20:28 am »
I am a drummer, and I play around KC quite a bit. I was wondering how many other musicians there are out there in the disc golf scene. So, if you have a website / myspace / mp3 / guitar in your basement / what ever, post it here! Also, if you're going to be performing somewhere around the area, let me know, I'm always up for checking something new out.

I play for a couple of different projects, but here are some links: - A new funk project, currently a 3 piece, but we are working on filling out the roster - A live hip hop backing band that plays behind a number of local MC's (we play live shows that are about 90% improv) - This is my good buddies DJ page, we are working on a duet project, we should be on the scene in a month or two

And I am performing at a gallery opening this coming first First Friday with an all improv jungle / jazz / acid jazz group.

11-07-2008 at The Base Gallery
2016 Baltimore, Kansas City, Missouri
Cost: Free - 6pmish???

Not too sure on the time, but if anyone is interested in checking it out, should be really cool. - That is the artists website.

Found and Lost / Lost Pink Flex Buzz (down under rosie)

Lost her on hole #5 or #6, can't really remember. I just got a hold of her, and she went too far. Looked for a good 20 minutes before giving up. :( Love that disc.

I lost a samsung blade. It has a nice puppy picture if you open it up, professor buckley, if you've met him.

I lost it some where on the back nine of rosey on sunday.

Some how my wallet and my keys, that were in the same pouch, made it back alive.

How often is the basket at those FAR pin-placements, down the hill past the fence?

I had to call my second round early yesterday and walked by the far pin-placements, man those would be fun to play!
