Beautiful.  So there is the possibility of Tee Pads in time for the Wide Open.  Thank Jack!

What is the latest word on pads out at Cliff Drive?  Looks like it's gonna take a lot of concrete to build Hole 1's tee.

I made it out to Cliff Drive on Sunday morning and was quite impressed with what Jack and crew have done out there.  Playing the front 9 out there, I was reminded somewhat of Kaposia Park in Minneapolis.

I also enjoyed the homeless gal sleeping on Hole 1.  I decided to skip my shot at the basket because she was sleeping and as we're walking to Hole 2's tee, she sits up and I say, "How's it going?"  She replies, "Wimp".  She then says, "Are you enjoying your Sunday in the park with a picnic?".  Classic.

Anyway, had a great time and I can't wait to get back out there later this week.

I purposely didn't bother calling Jack because his reply would have been something along of the lines of "Did you know that Cliff Drive is a disc golf course?".  ;-)

How 'bout a hammock?  Will that work?

General Banter / Aviar Driver or Aviar Putt and Approach
« on: April 06, 2009, 11:12:27 am »

I picked up a Star Aviar over the weekend at the Capital City Classic as part of my players package.  It was an LS Discs stamped Aviar.  The white sticker on the bottom just says "Star Aviar" so can I safely assume this is an Aviar Driver and not a Putt & Approach?

What's the difference in the Aviar Driver and the Putt & Approach?  Seems like this Aviar has a little more dome than the standard Putt & Approach disc I've seen in the past.

Just curious,

Looking forward to tomorrow.  It's gonna be a good time.

Are you saying there were those that paid $50.00 and didn't show up?  Do tell us more.  :-)

The 2nd Annual Capital City Classic?  Hmmm?  I thought this tournament has been around for years.  Maybe the second one for LSDiscs?

Anyway, who all is heading to the Capital City?

I was looking at your proposed entry fees for the Mighty Mo and had a question regarding the additional fees.  Are you really going to charge $2.00 for non-KDFDC members?  I know it's only a C-Tier tournament but it seems to me that the majority of folks that would travel in for this tournament are probably not KCFDC members.  Maybe I'm wrong.

I've just never heard of charging non-club member fees at a PDGA event.

General Banter / Anybody else catch Jack Lowe on TV last night?
« on: February 06, 2009, 03:09:34 pm »
Jack Lowe was on WDAF Fox 4 last night.  The footage was of a job fair in Overland Park where T-Mobile was one of the companies recruiting folks for Call Center jobs.  You can still see it on:

Scroll down on the right side and select page 2 of the Top Videos.  The clip is entitled "Crowd Swarms..."

General Banter / Official PDGA Magazine for 2009
« on: February 06, 2009, 09:48:01 am »
Perhaps this has already been discussed and I missed it but I received my electronic PDGA Newsletter today and it says that the official PDGA Magazine for 2009 will be DiscGolfer edited by our very own Rick Rothstein.  Congratulations Rick!

I've always been partial towards Disc Golf World News simply because I've seen it evolve over the years from the black and white Columbia Disc Golf News (?) into a full color glossy magazine.  I'm assuming that DiscGolfer will be similar to Disc Golf World News and I won't have to read about disc catching dogs?   ;D

It used to be listed on Houck's website as one of his current projects but it's since been taken off.  I'm not sure he's involved anymore.

Not so quick folks.  The final standings show Arturo placing 17th but the PDGA number #20020 next to Arturo's name is actually Kris Orrick's number.  :-P

General Banter / Drop Zone Extreme Sports in Olathe is now selling discs
« on: October 02, 2008, 10:57:50 am »
Just wanted to let everyone know that in addition to Ace Hardware, Drop Zone Extreme Sports in Olathe is now selling discs.  They have a pretty big selection of Innova plastic.  They are also closer to Prairie Center than Ace Hardware.  They are located at 407 S. Parker St. right next to the liquor store.  How convenient.  Check them out.
