Found and Lost / Key fob lost by Rosedale practice basket
« on: January 04, 2015, 12:04:06 pm »
On Jan 3rd before du league, I lost my key fob while I was practicing between the practice basket and 18 long. It's a worn acura key fob.  No, Jay Rivard, I did not lock them in the car.  I suspect someone found them because I have scoured the area several times and it's a heavily traveled area.  I even did some thorough dumpster diving in the trash can by my car.

On the bright side, thanks to El Presidente E. Kolk,Utz, Fred F and others, I was able to borrow a couple of discs, $, and a towel to play league and hit an ace. So, if I only had my key, I could get to du league next week and bring ace beer.   Thanks for helping me manage to play and get back home with nothing but friends.

$8 includes $2 ctp. We pay out $1 per person ctp if an ace is not hit. Random draw doubles.

Come on out and have some fun!  Billy Nelson is moving to TX and if you are happy or sad, let's send him off! Dynamic discs donated a CTP prize, ace fund is $417 plus, bonfire after, pins moved, and possibly grill afterwards.

General Banter / Re: November 15th Club Elections/ Voting Item
« on: November 14, 2014, 08:28:15 pm »
In the long run, the club should continue to pursue the 501c3 status and needs to guard against conflicts of interest and the potential appearance of improper self dealing.  Is there a conflicts of interest policy that has been approved?  If so, can we see it?

If conflicts are properly disclosed and managed, the club and the disc golf community is better off collaborating with those who have vested interests in the growth of the sport. As long as we have transparency and avoid self dealing to the detriment of the club, the amount of an individual's income derived from disc golf should have no bearing on whether they serve on the board.  The 51 percent threshold is arbitrary and is not near as important as transparency and abstaining from voting on any issue that would financially benefit a board member.    I haven't heard a solid rationale for retaining the 51 percent limit if conflicts with specific transactions are managed.

Allegiance to a university at which you taught might only be a small character flaw for Dresser. He should still be a contender.   But, It is tough to captain and focus on playing.   If only we could only  find an altruistic east sider who could sacrifice playing and focus on coaching and then, throw a killer after party in North East KC.  I second the nomination for Jack Lowe.

Old Pike / July 15th doubles a waterworks.
« on: July 15, 2014, 01:53:07 pm »
Old pikers will be playing waterworks tonight. There is a large swim meet tonight, and there will be cars on the fairways. Also, pdga league at waterworks tomorrow; so, it's a good day to practice the course.

I hear that Balwin City is a fun course with several water holes.  No one has contacted me about Old Pike. Old Pike allows guests with permission for a $5 daily fee. That may be a deal killer for traveling league.

Old Pike / June 17th pilgrimage to the land of gold

No old pike league today. It's time for the annual inner urban pilgrimage to Swope. Come on out to Swope and play the golden course!

Old Pike / Old Rivard doubles League June 3
« on: June 03, 2014, 01:18:39 pm »
Thanks to Rick Card, Cecilia, deaf, dumb, and blind Rob, the Billy N brothers, and some guy on a monster tractor, the course is nearly all mowed and trimmed.  Ace pool payout will be at least $200 for random draw dubs tonight.  Arturo said aces are easy when the limbs are trimmed!

For the record?  Oh, good. There is a record somewhere. Could someone post the record so we know who decided what and when?   It doesn't make sense that we would not include the ladies who have been an integral part of the team since day one. Seems like west side shenanigans!

Do we have a current list of the ground rules?
Was the final decision was that a participant's primary residence must be on the side where you play?

Also, could Tracy please remind everyone about the charitable cause for which we are playing.

I understand why we don't have am and masters divisions.   Beyond a handful of pros on each side, it would be tough to fill a roster without ams and old guys.  But, why don't we have a women's division?  Is it because there are not enough west side women who want to play?
