Tournaments / Re: 2013 Kansas City Team Challenge - June 1-2, 2013

Congrats to the west side on their victory by the narrowest of margins.  Given the clearly superior talent on the west side, East side must have really over performed or West under performed.  But, I am glad it was a very competitive match.  The west side intimidation tactics bringing in Nate and Val clearly were the difference in the match.   Loomis, I enjoyed our match and your sportsmanship.  I also think your on line rants are hilarious and have been excellent locker room fodder!   I Hope that  can get healthy and make it back and establish residency for next year's contest.    Sorry you were so anxious to get back on the computer last   night that you missed the party celebrating East side retaining their title as all time points leader.   21-11 still looks beautiful on the trophy and we have nothing to be ashamed of .. except that one putt that made the difference. Great fun this weekend!   Thanks Ryan and TW for taking on the captain roles!

Wow, you put a sponsored player on the alternates.
Good point, Dick. The Smith brothers(George and Fred) should be on the active roster.  Might be a clever coaching ploy.

In addition to the organized chants, I hope our coach has the traditional inspirational speech like Jake gave last year.  It was similar to the you tube Ben Show uncensored coaching video.  Or, we revert to the most fun wins strategy!  See you at the team practice.

Old Pike / UTZ Reportedly bringing ACE BEER
« on: March 18, 2013, 09:19:07 PM »
Reportedly, Utz hit an ace last week on the grill shot!  There seems to be a statistical anomaly where the odds of someone hitting an ace increase geometrically if I'm out of town and Utz is running league!  Hmm.   The good news is that Utz should bring the ace beer.

Also, please renew/sign up for your 2013 membership if you have not already done so.

Good recommendation. The qwest is on for the holy grail.

Old Pike / Re: March 5th Old Pike Doubles
« on: March 05, 2013, 08:02:37 AM »
In Pete's defense, he has been working 11 hour days through February. But, it's March and once the snow melts, and it's above 20 degrees and it's not too windy, he should be back in action.  Jack on the other hand is very busy helping the time keeper at the Mavericks games and keeping poker and cliff drive going.  Plus, there was a rumor that Jack was considering going on a hunger strike until Bell's agrees to his demand to produce more Hop Slam.

Old Pike / March 5th Old Pike Doubles
« on: March 04, 2013, 08:23:20 PM »
Tuesday will be the last Old Pizzle glow league of the year.  Hopefully, it will be cold enough; so, the melting snow re-freezes and is not sloppy.  All the tee pads have been shoveled; so, they will be fine.  Come out and play in the snow for possibly the last time this season!   After round, snacks will be sponsored by Dynamic Discs and Pete Cashen; although, I think he saw on his shadow early in February and has been scared to play at night in the snow ever since!   ;)

Milsap already has a handi cap.  It's 14 natural lights!  You just have to be patient.

That was fun E!  Ten weren't scared of the snow.  12 under par in a foot of snow with no lost discs with Danny K  not using any ribbons.  Which is more impressive?

Is that a rhetorical question?  Pins have been moved and we will get a game going.

Shawnee Mission / Re: Thoughts/Feedback
« on: February 18, 2013, 08:48:55 PM »
Peter,  thanks for the work and the thought you put into the course!  It was in very good shape and the new  pin placements were fun.  The gravel isn't pretty; but, we will appreciate it after a rain, and it will keep the erosion down.  I was lucky enough to have Feldberg's KCWO caddy, caddying for me the second round.  He is very knowledgeable and helped me shave 8 strokes off my first round caddyless score.  He had never seen the course; but, commented that it was a lot better than he expected from the feedback he had heard.  That is a good sign!

Overall, you should get very positive feedback.  There were a couple of shots on the back (might be holes nine and ten) which seemed like very similar shots back to back:  a straight to slightly hyzer 375 to 400 foot shot.  They were still challenging to birdie in the wind; but, overall, there was good variety.

Also, there could have been a rest room somewhere on the course to reduce the number of indecent exposure claims by the Johnson County folks.  (Don't worry they can't prove it.) And, the beer cart girl, she didn't come around very often during the second round. . .

Thanks Peter and thanks to Scott/DD for running the tournament.

Mike T.
