Old Pike / Swope Diversity Reciprocal Field Trips
« on: October 28, 2012, 02:45:57 PM »
Swope Glowers, Super Fred and E Kolk, have proposed that during the winter months, we have periodic designated weeks when the Swope glowers will come out to Old Pike on a Tuesday and there would be no Swope league.   We will designate another week of the month where the Old Pikers will go to Swope and there will not be an Old Pike league.  We plan to start this Tuesday October 30th with the Swopers visiting the OP and  then, on Nov. 6th the OP will travel to Swope.

We will see how this works out and then, may designate set weeks; so, people can plan their schedules.

We can keep an eye out for that.  But not the one I found.  It is an ol old aviar thrown by one of the old old guys playing our  doubles round.  .

Beat in orange putter with no legible name.     Too modern to be Ottos or Todd Henry's.  Maybe Shane's.  Also,  got that padded thing that might be laron's but no one would pick it up after someone said it was his cup!   Don't think who checks the message board but

Yes.  Utz and Fenton do rock!  It brought a tear to my eye to see Utz hold a branch lopper for the first time 8)!  But, they did get after it once Fenton provided the training!  I am planning a field trip to Swope; but, I know some of the others are staying back and proceeding with the show.  I will bring some brats to OP next week.

Tournaments / Re: East vs West Team Championship
« on: June 29, 2012, 12:57:39 PM »
I would like to buy a sponsor disc for the opportunity to compete.  I guess the bright side about Missouri is that it seems the top players are in Kansas; so, at least we have a better chance to qualify to make the team!  Although, the hypothetical potential match ups seem lopsided in favor of the west side unless we push the boundary a little further west.  Aren't we just one big happy community anyway?   Why let the state line divide us.

Some day, we would like to have a team Old Pike that competes once a month in round robin type league against other course teams.

Old Pike / Old Pike Doubles Players July 3rd League postponed
« on: June 28, 2012, 04:04:22 PM »
July 3rd is the grand opening of the new Kearney Course and Old Pike League players should take a field trip to Kearney next Tuesday instead of Old Pike league.  Please come out to Kearney and promote disc golf in the northland!

Kevin V can't make it to Kearney and will likely get some sort of casual round going at Old Pike.

Should be a fun course.  Ted says its his favorite; but, I think he is biased because it is his home away from home course!

Old Pike / Tuesday League moved to Swope
« on: May 28, 2012, 11:00:57 PM »
In honor of the 30th KC wide open, we are moving Tuesday Old Pike doubles league to Swope Gold this week!  We still need to get Old Pike in order and Dave Z will be moving fire wood about 7:30 tomorrow.  Old Pike disc members could always play a round with guests; but, no league this week.    Hope to resume next week if Teddy can run it and the course is ready.

Old Pike is nearly in the tournament configuration for league tomorrow.

We will have sign up forms for the tournament, and heard that chef Kevin might be back to serve up something for the winners.

He is still guarding Sandy Point; but, it was moved.  It is now guarding Teddy's and Neenons paver stone cookie cutter tee pad.

I think most of the schedule is on the flyer.  But, my understanding was Friday singles:  $18 am and $23 pros with $2 ace fund.  Saturday doubles is $60 per team for pro divisions, and $50 for advanced, and $40 for all others (mixed, intermediate, recreational, cross dressers, etc.).  Sunday is $18 for all divisions and $2 for ace fund.

Camping is $10 per night with breakfast provided in the morning.

That is funny!  You can only report em like you see um, Utz.  Ted helped with sign ups; but, FRANKly, I KEN, hardly remember who filled out the tee assignments.  I am pretty sure it was the legendary Fire Builder, who added Mary Poppins to the list.   Tankfully, Ms. Poppins cashed!

Thanks for keeping the stats.  Utz Rocks!  I was the one who played like Mary Poppins; although Mary was my partner.  I think that maybe it was Mike D, the aputting phemom open player and champion of the Rammin Salmon, was Deano's partner.
