Who's Going?

I'm going.

By the way, it'll be another hot as hell MAO. The club has been really good in the past about keeping water available in past years, just make sure you take care this weekend and stay hydrated.

why is 8 always set short for the wide open? long and longer are much better holes. one dog's opinion unless the white maccoy also thinks it's another case of WEAK SAUCE!

#8 short is a finesse shot that's a much tougher deuce that it looks, and with the hill it sits on, fours and fives happen.

Probably not much scoring spread on the other two placements.

You're not really using the long left placement for the Wide Open on #12?

Millenium made a beadless soft Rhyno...The Tank.  :o

The Tank was made by Ching, not Millennium. Ching discs back then were actually manufactured by Innova.

You should think about making the alternate shot rounds in the Ryder Cup Foursomes format. In otherwords, one player tees off on the even holes, and the other player tees on the odd holes, and then you alternate from the tee shot. That way a hot driver or a hot putter doesn't take advantage. Both players have to do both.

I'll bring my crates. Hopefully chappy will be there to give us some plastic love too.

Sorry I missed it. I do have some stuff still I'll likely be Ebaying soon...I'll be in town for the Wide Open, if you know of anything you want, let me know (PM me) and I'll dig through my stuff....but a lot of it's been picked over. I do have some CE stuff still. Oh, and give me a few days....I'm busy through at least Wednesday with finals at school.

General Banter / Re: PDGA Rating System SUCKS!
« on: April 11, 2012, 10:44:18 PM »
Ratings are not wholly representative of your skill...they're actually representative of how well you play against your opponents that day.

Excellent way to view it Chris, excellent.....says the guy that shoots 1000, and 800 rated rounds!  Some days are better than others, and some some rounds the same day, are FANTASTIC only to have the other roud during the same day look like you bought your first disc that morning......

Ratings area based mostly on how you compared to everyone else. We've had Wide Opens where had a few Advanced shoot hot one day, and the next day some Pros shoot the same score in the same weather conditions and their rating is 30 points higher. It's not common, but it happens.

Ratings would be better if you could somehow compare your score against a set standard. The problem is, there's no way to set a static standard. You could play Rosedale one day in 75 degree and calm weather. The next day, on the same layout, it could be 40 degrees and windy as heck. Obviously day 2 will play harder. The PDGA ratings are far from perfect, but they aren't bad, and they are the best thing we have so far.

I have no idea how I can get there for that, but I shall try. Becky is probably the best person equipped to handle her situation, and also the person least deserving of it.

You're saying goodbye to sadness? Good for you, although I think you meant something else, but couldn't figure out how to spell it.

Worth it. The three main courses are Hyland, Blue Ribbon Pine and Kaposia. The PROS at the Majestic play BRP and Hyland. The AMS play BRP and Kaposia.

In May, there is a two round tournament of just Kaposia.

It takes six hours plus to get there, so if you don't get to torn up, you should be able to drive home after the final round.

The main issue is distance. BRP to Kaposia is the same distance from Olathe to Blue Springs with no main highway connecting them. So if you play the Majestic, housing can be an issue. However, you can camp at BRP which is pretty sweet. They have food, a bar, a pro shop and you can play glow at BRP so it's a big party on site. However, the last night you will have to figure out new housing closer to Kaposia.

In my opinion, everyone should play this tournament at least once.

It's a fun tournament on fun and challenging courses.  Good stuff.  I probably won't be able to go....but would like to if I can schedule it.

Just for grins, we should have a distance contest amongst KCFDC members and/or anyone who wants to throw a few to see where they stack up in KC.

I can throw 600 feet. The problem is that it takes me at least two throws to do so.

Reports now say that they were frisbee golfers. One more reason why i won't go after a disc down there.

"Hey guys, can i get relief from this dead body?"

"Ummmm, i think you can only move that leg if its not attached to the body...."

In ball golf, if it's a dead body, it's a loose impediment, so if it's in a bunker, you can't move it. However, if the body still has a pulse, then it's an outside agency, so you can ask it to move.

There is actually a situation in the ball golf decisions manual that references that exact situation. Well, it's talks about dead fish, not humans, but everything else is the same.

Sorry, no personal experience there, but I saw some pros do it on TV once, because I had a car once I was thinking about doing it with. It's a serious pain in the arse to do, and do it right.

I would say the vast majority of us don't play in CC simply because their company isn't involved.  It's a lot of money for a company to join, and not all feel it's the best use of their funds.

Chris, this is really sad.  When the entry runs $1300-4000, depending on the size of your company.  The A divisions companies waste $4000 in the blink of an eye.  Just short sided management that does not understand the team building and morale.

Do I sound bitter, I am :) Sprint/UT&T was one of the inaugural companies competing and now through numerous spin-offs and mergers the current local-telephone company (which will remain nameless) has refused to participate.

I worked for Citigroup for a short time, and they have a 2800-employee call center near the airport, as well as CitiMortgage locations throughout the metro.  They think nothing about giving out $15 AMC gift cards a couple times a year for all 2800 employees, but something like this that would actually be a good team building experience they won't drop a dime on. It also promotes physical fitness, which is supposedly a Citi virtue. Go figure.

Thanks man, couldnt find anything saying for sure but based on last years results i'llbe in division C. See ya there Tom.

I think they wait until all of the companies have signed up before they break them down in to classes....I think they try to even out the number in each class.  If your company was in C Division last year, that's likely where they'll be again, although it's possible they'll move to either B or D depending on whether your company more or fewer employees than they did last year, in relation to the other companies in the challenge.
