Only July 3, 2012 at 5:00pm the Kearney Parks and Rec and the Mayor of Kearney, MO are going to be cutting the ribbon on the Newest course in Kansas City Metro, Jesse James Disc Golf Course in Kearney, MO.

I'm asking that anyone available at this time please try to come out and support this opening. I really want to show a taste of the Disc Golf community we have in town. The Kearney residents, from what I've heard, are really taking to the course and also the sport in general. They are very excited about Disc Golf and the Northland in general, if you haven't noticed, is taking an interest in our sport.

The Ceremony will last all of 15-20 miins. Immediately following we will head out on the course and play a round. This will be very informal so please either bring some people to play with or find a group and jump in. Even if you can not play I ask that everyone show their support by just being there for the Ceremony. After the sun goes down that evening the Parks and Rec will be having their yearly Fireworks display as well.

Directions to Jesse James from KC:

I-35N to Hwy 92 (THE Kearney Exit)
Turn Right (East)
At Jeffereson Street (3 Stop Lights, You'll see a Country V Mart on left) take a Left.
The course will be approx 2.5 miles on your right. You will see the course before you see the entrance to the park.
When you pull into the park continue to the very back of the park until you see the signs that say Disc Golf and Soccer Parking.
The Parking Lot is in the grass.

If you have any questions please ask.

WARNING! There is still quite a bit of Poison IVY along the edges of the course. If you are allergic please take necessary procautions. BUJI is a great cream that helps block the IVY, OAK, SUMAC. The P&R are going to making an effort to try to eradicate as much as possible over the next year but this will take time so please be careful. If you stay on the fairway you shouldn't have any problems :).

Thank You!

Tournaments / Rosedale Down Under Invitational "D.U.I." March 31, 2012
« on: March 13, 2012, 12:42:46 PM »
It's Back!

The Down Under Invitational at Rosedale Down Under, March 31, 2012.

THIS IS NOT A PDGA EVENT!

Field limited to 90 players

Registration will begin at 8:00 and end at 9:45 sharp (AM)

First round will Tee Off at 10:15am

2nd round will start no earlier than 1 hour after the last card comes in from the first round

Divisions offered will be Open $32 - Pro Masters $32 - Women $27 - AM Men $27 - Novice Men $22

If there is at least 4 people interested in a separate division not listed I will open it up. Though from my experience running this event there is not really a need to split divisions to far.  The holes are short and technical.  It all depends on who gets through the gaps the best that day.

There is a $3.00 Optional Ace Fund.  If no Ace is hit we will have a CTP after the final round to distribute the money.

$2 of every entry will be donated to the Kansas City Flying Disc Club

For more information feel free to call Disc Golf World at 816-471-3472 or come in the shop to sign up today! We are located at 509 E 18th St, Kansas City Missouri 64108. Or email me at dick@discgolfworld.com.

A few months back I noticed that the PDGA facebook page was looking for the best disc golf club websites. I of course threw our name in the hat, and it turns out they agreed.  Check their facebook page to see what I mean.

« on: September 24, 2011, 05:40:31 PM »
I just wanted to remind everyone that we will be playing, once again, to find out who is  the bestest of the bestest in Kansas City.  I will have a flyer up soon with more details.   Just remember... You MUST be a current KCFDC Member to play in ANY PART of this event.  You may sign up with your local League Director, or at Disc Golf World, OR the day of the event.

Thanks,

General Banter / First Fridays at Disc Golf World July 1, 2011
« on: June 23, 2011, 10:23:57 AM »
Hey I just wanted to let everyone know that we have been staying open during First Fridays til 9pm.  Coming up Friday July 1st we are going to have an Art Show featuring Disc Golf Artists that Dye Discs and Paint.   We were hoping to have about 4 artists come down and show of there stuff.

Currently we have a couple people but we are looking for 1 or 2 more.   If you are a Disc Golf Artist and would like to display some of your work we would love to talk to you about being apart of this fun event.   Call or Email Rick or myself if you are interested.  (not here on the forum :))

As for the rest of you,  we would love to see everyone show up to support our Disc Golf Art friends, and also hang out for a Putting Contest that DGW and Innova Disc Golf are sponsoring in order to raise money to support the victims of the Joplin Disaster.  There will be prizes for different levels of the contest, with the grand prize being a Whammo Mini Basket.   So far we have raise approx. $150 but we would like to double that this time.   All proceeds for the putting contest will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Beaver Creek:

Hole17 - 1 greenish yellow Boss with no stamp on top.  This one I think is actually retrievable.

General Banter / High Res photos of workdays needed
« on: March 23, 2011, 04:40:12 PM »
I need pictures of Workdays from around KC showing people working.  If anyone has anything that shows people and the course I would love to use them on the new website.  Thanks.

Well I went out there today to check out the course with Joe Hesting and I'd have to say I like the course.  Its very easy but the guy who designed it and takes care of it is a landscaper and has made it really a pleasing place to play.  I will be back as it is 5 mins from my house.

Anyway.  I got to meet the designer while he was working on the course today and he wanted me to let everyone know that they are welcome to play the course, even when school is in session.   He said it is open to players and that the parking lot by hole 1 is rarely used, even during school.   I felt like there was a comment made earlier when this course was brought up about not playing during school hours.  And because of that I personally have avoided this gem that was so very close.    Well I have been told by the man himself that it is open to the public.
