Bag Tags / Sneak Peak of the 2013 Bag Tag
« on: October 22, 2012, 05:33:45 pm »
For those of you who have been around the past few years, you know that I try my best to make the tags as interesting as possible. I don't want to do the same tag every year.

We have seen our fair share of Mad Cows, Floating Space courses, Actual non floating real life courses, and cool metal tags with old tournament logos... Sooo, what to do to make this year stand out?  Leather... Who doesn't like a nice piece of hide? So I really hope everyone likes what I have come up with... If not?  Well there is always 2014. I was told we will have the tags for the Club Elections and I am going to go ahead and say they will. BUT, until then here is a taste of what they look like.

Bag Tags / 2013 Bag Tag Standings
« on: October 22, 2012, 03:00:24 pm »
We had 102 people pre-pay for their 2013 Bag Tags. 99 of those 102 played at least 1 round. Below is the breakdown of what tag you will be starting your 2013 Bag Tag season off with. Remember they will be available to pick up at the Club Elections this Saturday 10-27 at the Westport Flea Market.

If you are in a Tie, it will be first come first serve for the # listed by your name. If you did not play all 4 rounds, you are on a first come first serve basis within the tags assigned to your group. If you have not purchased a tag but would like to, your next opportunity will be at the Club Elections this saturday. After that they will be available at DGW in KCMO. We will likely get a few over to the DDKC store as well. Thank You!

Bag Tags / 2012 bag tag ideas

General Banter / Can anyone guess what is funny in this clip?

Ok... there is one thing in particular that made me laugh about this sketch. Can anyone guess what it was?

General Banter / Local Disc Golfer on the News
« on: September 21, 2012, 06:07:04 pm »
So I turned on the news and what do you know. Kevin "Hollywood" Vetsch is on the news after finding a 3 year old surrounded by needles and porn.

It is time, once again, to battle it out on the course for the right to call themselves the best of KC (at least that weekend)!

The 2012 Kansas City Flying Disc Club Championships
Oct. 20-21, 2012

The schedule is as follows:

Saturday 10-20
Round 1 - 10am - Prairie Center DGC (Olathe)
Round 2 - TBA - Shawnee Mission Park

Sunday 10-21
Round 3 - 10am - Water Works DGC
Round 4 - TBA - Swope DGC

Both morning rounds will tee off at 10am sharpish. Both afternoon rounds will be approximately 1 hour after the final card is turned in from the morning round. I will try to post 2nd round start times on the club Face Book page and also here.

Once again you will be able to PREPAY for your 2013 Bag Tag at the event! If you do NOT PREPAY you will not be playing for your 2013 tag. Winning the entire event DOES NOT qualify you for a tag unless you PREPAY. I hope I am making this clear. I know the flyer said it last year but I want to reiterate the point so there is NO CONFUSION.

Here is the flyer with more info:

My job is done.

WYCO / Good night to WYCO

Anyone else planning on making the trek? Looks like it should be a perfect night for league!

10 years ago... On a Disc Golf Course far far away (from my house)... 2 Disc Golf Junkies discovered they had something in common. Something that would stick with them... for ever... A birthday. Not just any birthday.  The most awesomest one. And now 10 years later we are still together running the most awesome Disc Golf Event (well kind of) ever. The Lion's Den Open. Please... Join us in the historic event!

If you haven't already, please "Like Us" on Facebook.

Tonight is First Fridays in the Crossroads, so we are celebrating by running a Speed Putting Contest outside from 6-8:30pm if anyone wants to come down and try it out. It's free to play and after 8:30 we will declare a winner. The winner will receive a 2012 KCWO Stamp disc from our collection!  It's fun and free so please come down and check it out.

Like the Subject says:

Only July 3, 2012 at 5:00pm the Kearney Parks and Rec and the Mayor of Kearney, MO are going to be cutting the ribbon on the Newest course in Kansas City Metro, Jesse James Disc Golf Course in Kearney, MO.

I'm asking that anyone available at this time please try to come out and support this opening. I really want to show a taste of the Disc Golf community we have in town. The Kearney residents, from what I've heard, are really taking to the course and also the sport in general. They are very excited about Disc Golf and the Northland in general, if you haven't noticed, is taking an interest in our sport.

The Ceremony will last all of 15-20 miins. Immediately following we will head out on the course and play a round. This will be very informal so please either bring some people to play with or find a group and jump in. Even if you can not play I ask that everyone show their support by just being there for the Ceremony. After the sun goes down that evening the Parks and Rec will be having their yearly Fireworks display as well.

Directions to Jesse James from KC:

I-35N to Hwy 92 (THE Kearney Exit)
Turn Right (East)
At Jeffereson Street (3 Stop Lights, You'll see a Country V Mart on left) take a Left.
The course will be approx 2.5 miles on your right. You will see the course before you see the entrance to the park.
When you pull into the park continue to the very back of the park until you see the signs that say Disc Golf and Soccer Parking.
The Parking Lot is in the grass.

If you have any questions please ask.

WARNING! There is still quite a bit of Poison IVY along the edges of the course. If you are allergic please take necessary procautions. BUJI is a great cream that helps block the IVY, OAK, SUMAC. The P&R are going to making an effort to try to eradicate as much as possible over the next year but this will take time so please be careful. If you stay on the fairway you shouldn't have any problems :).

Thank You!

Tournaments / Rosedale Down Under Invitational "D.U.I." March 31, 2012
« on: March 13, 2012, 12:42:46 pm »
It's Back!

The Down Under Invitational at Rosedale Down Under, March 31, 2012.

Field limited to 90 players

Registration will begin at 8:00 and end at 9:45 sharp (AM)

First round will Tee Off at 10:15am

2nd round will start no earlier than 1 hour after the last card comes in from the first round

Divisions offered will be Open $32 - Pro Masters $32 - Women $27 - AM Men $27 - Novice Men $22

If there is at least 4 people interested in a separate division not listed I will open it up. Though from my experience running this event there is not really a need to split divisions to far.  The holes are short and technical.  It all depends on who gets through the gaps the best that day.

There is a $3.00 Optional Ace Fund.  If no Ace is hit we will have a CTP after the final round to distribute the money.

$2 of every entry will be donated to the Kansas City Flying Disc Club

For more information feel free to call Disc Golf World at 816-471-3472 or come in the shop to sign up today! We are located at 509 E 18th St, Kansas City Missouri 64108. Or email me at
