Online registration is now open at Disc Golf Scene. Please remember that we will adjust caps on divisions as those begin to fill as we see fit. Hopefully everyone reading this is either helping or playing. If not, please remember to get out there and show your support by watching a little disc golf in Kansas City.

A Tier Registration!

B Tier Registration!

I'm curious, John, why would you add excessive drive time when not necessary. Knocking out courses on the same property just helps with driving and running low on time. I think the golf is the part that actually wears one out.

A lot of the problem is the bathrooms aren't heated. So the water lines can freeze.

Tournaments / 33rd Annual Kansas City Wide Open - June 19-21, 2015
« on: March 05, 2015, 11:05:12 am »
The KCWO committee met last night for the first time to iron out all the details for the 33rd installment of this wonderful Kansas City  disc golf tradition known as the Kansas City Wide Open.

So please, mark your calendars for June 19-21 and help us show the disc golf community around the world that we are the best place on earth for world class disc golf tournaments. Even if you can not play or volunteer, make sure you attend Sunday afternoon, June 21, to show support for the disc golfers by being apart of what we believe is the largest and most amazing gallery in disc golf. We are excited to once again provide Kansas City an opportunity to witness the best disc golf in the world.

The KCWO is an A-Tier event with the PDGA and also we are once again a USDGC Qualifying event. This year is not going to be any less grand than years past. We are planning just as big of an event so we can continue that tradition going into next year when the National Tour returns to KC.

The course to be used this year will be Water Works, Rosedale, Swope Gold, and one lucky pool will get to play a fun modified layout of Blue Valley, designed to test your skill, not your legs... as much.

The A-Tier will include all pro and advance amateur divisions. All of these divisions will be playing 4 rounds Fri-Sun. We will continue the tradition of a final 9 featuring the top 4 men and top 3 women in a super group. The intermediate and below divisions will be playing in a subsequent B-Tier that will play 3 rounds between Sat-Sun.

Online registration is in the works as we speak and I will likely have that up and running by the end of the week. Hopefully everyone will make plans now to be apart of this wonderful event in one way or another. More details to follow.

It won't matter how it came together if we win.  If we lose we hear you mock us for another year. IfWHEN you lose we mock you for a year.  And so the fun continues.

Still starts with an if..

You guys are cute. Finally getting you s$!@ together a week before the first qualifier. Or is this even a qualifier for you coming up? Oh boy, maybe you don't have it together. Good luck with that.

You know no matter what you try, it's never good enough.

Does everyone see that this is a conversation about when we should have leagues? What I posted are what was proposed. Now instead of talking about it, folks are pointing fingers and blaming others.

Nothing is set in stone folks. How about some discussion on this forum. That is why we have it. Next board meeting is next Monday the 9th where among other things the league schedule will be discussed/approved/etc.
The league proposal was submitted to the KCFDC and approved.

I think the above quote says differently.

I'm planning on going up Friday night.

Maybe to add the date to the title? Dunno.

Like you and Tom  ;D Boom
No more attitude from you sir!

And Nate, breaking down divisions is fine but unnecessary for dubs. Putting 2 people together on a team makes it very hard to say you are intermediate or advanced. I've seen some pretty bad players team up to be great dubs partners.

EXACTLY!

It's dubs, why would it need to be split up?

By the looks of it, there will only be 1 division for ams.

I think it's funny that someone is throwing money at one tournament with the hopes that it will truly grow the sport. All it does, IMHO, is just hold a high standard for payout the following year. And as for sustainability... uh huh. I hope it does well and they prove me wrong but this isn't the first time someone attempted it and won't be the last I assume.

I want to know what they are doing with the money? Is it just payout? Welp, that doesn't do anything but make a few people happy. Or are they using half of it to say actually put on a huge event? Players packs have a bunch of discs in it? Wow. And a shirt? Is someone pulling my leg? Again, I hope it does something great for the sport. But I bet it only does great things for one weekend. Please discuss. Argue with me. I would love to hear what other people think.
