Rosedale / Re: Rosedale DOWN UNDER League results 12-6-08
« on: December 10, 2008, 03:42:41 PM »
Thanks again to EVERYONE who came out and for finding what card Gary and Bill T were on.   If this keeps up we may have to do sign up in the parking lot.

I think we should do sign up down by hole 18 where we finish.  That way, if people are starting on different holes, it's a lot closer to get to their tee.  Just a thought.   Also, no 6-somes or 8-somes.....down under rounds shouldn't take 3.5 hours....doubles round are slower than singles rounds...trust me.  This request is probably falling on deaf ears, but I thought I'd give it the old college try.

Chap

Well Chap luckily we read with our eyes not our ears and THIS is what I proposed.  The problem isn't so much a 6-em problem as a starting hole problem.  We could still play in a sixem fast but when you stack them it becomes a problem.  Then again if you have all foursomes starting on hole 1 you have FOREVER to get everyone off and so on.  The problem solver is meet up top or on 12/18 area, play in foursomes and use 4 different hole locations to get everyone off in a timely manner.

The problem is I don't run league.  When I mentioned it people complained and bickered.   I guess when it's your league you run it the way you want to .

No Shoenhopper!!!

Alot of the reason we were all playing for 218 and so on is because the good numbers all got lost at the Ice Bowl.  I think #11 was probably the equivelant of #5 and so on.  This is at least something to try and just see what happens to those top 20+ tags.  I bet for at least 6 months those tags are seen MORE often and played for by the people who really should be playing for them.  And like Jack did to St. Louis last year, if you win a good Tag and are never seen again. Well it will be hard to get you then but you at least WON it and didn't just score it the first day.

Well I understand your point as I do everyone elses.  The bottom line is we want it to be fun for all who play and we want to make sure that those tags are in circulation for at least the first part of the year.  After that they will have swapped hands and moved about and it wont matter.  Still it is just as random as before but if you donate your time to playing alot of leagues then maybe .. JUST maybe the club can give back to you by allowing you to draw a good number that you will most likely lose in your first round of golf.

There is no need to mix up divisions.  THe TAG challenge is a challenge.  A challenge to be the best. or better than the other guy.   If you want to play for a better tag try an off card challenge.  Or maybe stepping up and putting your 5 bucks towards a good arse kicking.  Or "lesson" if you will.  Our league structure doesn't need to change to accomidate tags.

League structure doesn't need to change.....you can still play in your regular division.  Cards will be assigned by tag number (ie Dick #1, Tom B #8, Tavish #15, Brian Palmer #19 would be the lead card even though everyone is signed up in different divisions).

By the way off card challenges are weak, plus you don't have to accept them.....

They are only weak if you don't accept.

That's when you go for option two.  Step up and play open.  Though I will tell you.  I play open all the time and I still have to defend some 100+ # against a 160+.  So lets just let the randomness of playing for the tag on your card and the occasional off card if one so chooses and be marry.  No trying to match people up.  1000 has every right to play with 1.

Chris, If contemplating with yourself is work ... then yes you have a point.

and Emerson.. If you got a raise in this financial crisis than you must be doing something right.  I doubt it ... BUT who knows.

we should mix the divisions up in league once or twice a month that way a person in adv could take a tag from say a master or an open player. maybe the top 100 that played league or tournys more often should draw from 1 thru 100 and the rest draw from the left over ( but in the end your never going to stop the tag hiding ) however it go's its just a number!!!! I could not make it to league after the daylight savings because my JOB!!!! it got in the way ;D (I do like the club championship idea)

Just your game.  Sorry you can't make it out to leagues after daylight savings.  One thing I've been thinking about for this also is what about for every 2 hours of Volunteer time (kept track by your CC) you get credited with 1 round of golf.  So that goes into your apperences at league.  Now you can come out and work on a course and get more chances to draw for a better tag along with showing up to league.

Now the one problem with this is the CC NOW has to keep track of stuff, and hand it over to John or whoever is in charge of these #'s.  Now just playing isn't the only option.  We can make alot of incentives for people to get a good start on tags.  And we can maybe get some work done at our courses.

Ok really fast I want to comment on this club championship distribution thing.  The way that works is the top people get the top tags.  If we just give the top tags to the top attendees it would distribute them to a broader base of people with diverse talent level.  Just my $.25 on the subject.

Yes emerson. My thoughts are worth WAY more than yours.

Why do people hate admitting I might just be right?   My brother use to make Leather keyrings which he burnt designs in to the leather.  Something like that might be nice. The only thing is I guess it wouldn't do well in water.  We can make laminated ones.  They would be cheap and if something happened to one we could just make another one on the computer.  All we need is a laminate machine.  Maybe a dumb idea.  Dunno
