General Banter / Re: New PC Disc Golf Game. Addicting.

I threw a shot once that skiped off a mountain top and continued flying towards the target.  But it never came down, just went higher & higher.  Was like a 1500m out and the island was a little more than a spec in the distance and was still flying away into the ocean.

The game loads about 40% of the time.

First few times playing this on normal, I didn't realize you could control the disc after the flight.  Only played hard once, but scored an ace on the first throw.

Shot 1987 today.

That's awesome!

I was pulling for him to win last weekend.  Crushing loss after winning the first playoff hole.  But the cool thing is that he won't let it get him down.

Yeah, I'd like to see him crush a disc!  Getting professional golfers to recognized disc golf would be HUGE for this sport.

You must be referring to some earlier runs.  Like KC 10x & KC 11x stuff (and not all the models).  I'm not an expert, but I remember Innova plastic going through many different types after CFR before the relatively standard pro, champion, & star plastic were established.  The had SE, then the really soft JK Valks, some really hard Pro plastic that was almost like champion, but not see through, and some stuff that actually looked just like champion.  Some of these fetch a lot of money on ebay.

Kevin, anyone:

Does Ted want his course listed in the PDGA directory?  It doesn't have to list an address or any contact info.  Smitty is trying to update the Kansas course list.

Blue Valley has some short pins that are several hundred feet shorter than the longs.  Do they ever get utilized?  I think the course has been all long every time I've been out there.

So Ted sold his old baskets and now has discatchers?  Are they the portable kind?

Has he talked about bringing the Red Bud back next year?  What have we gone, 2 years w/o this tourney?

Still wanting to make it up to USM.  Last time I was going to hit it on the way to Atchison.  Missed my turn!

I don't think either one should count.  The number of DROT's you get varies considerably with the type of basket (what kind of nickel, etc).  But I think the reason that they count wedgies in the basket is that sometimes they go all the way through if the basket isn't to spec, and you have no way of proving how it go in the basket (over the cage and in vs. through the cage).  Then you have to count nubs if you count wedgies.  So I don't know how you can propose to change it without dealing with these problems.

I think Down Under is one of the funnest courses I've played.  There is a luck factor in that since many trees are "in" the fairway, bad shots can get through and good shots can take a bad kick downhill, that is often a worse shot than from the tee (remember you can always call an unplayable lie and rethrow from the previous lie).  I would certainly argue that if you played the course a few times a week for several weeks, you would see your average drop.  You'll end up learning when to be aggressive and when not to and how to throw safe shots.  And how to hit a line.

I think it can be too weighted the other way as well.  The final 9 at Worlds was almost wide open, except hole 3 & 4.  A lot of the courses had the long & open theme.  Can't say that's the reason Avery won, but it had some factor in it.

Advantage disc golfer.

5649 Yards from the whites.  That is fairly short.
