It was a 169 Star Destroyer. It was my first that I didn't get to see hit the chains, oh well, it was also the first time I have been paid for one.

all that BS needs to stop on shirts, logos, flyers for money events.  Do you really want that out there.  Come on folks, people bit$% and complain about sponsorship, yet we allow that stuff to be on published materials.  Are you going to see players last week at the Masters with gear like that.  Well some of you might say, "i do not want those stuff folks playing our game," well that is to bad becuase of the abundance of courses. Hmm ,i wonder why ball golf has large purses.  Disc golf has small purses with limited sponsorship.  Maybe folks do not want to associate their good names with illegal drugs.  There is time and a place for everything and i dont want to rain on anyones parade, but seriously.   i think most folks understand that, but why go out of your way and be blatant and in your face?  I see this like all the students that i work with that act up all the time for attention.  All the other students know that they are doing it for attention.  Okay, cool dude, you like to smoke.  The whole pot thing over and over and over just reeks of middle school behavior.  All the doctors, lawyers and professional folks that partake are not going around wearing their "  i smoke pot badge".

The pot isn't the problem, it is the ignorance about it that is the problem.

Nobody would be pissed if it was a Bud Light logo. The obviously more dangerous substance.

I had highly anticipated a possible Tournament shirt for the tournament.  It didn't happen.  Sorry didn't give myself enough time.

I did lower the entry from past years.  I was willing to split divisions if there were enough people. There just simply was not enough people for a lower division.   Sorry.  Again I could have put you with the Juniors but they were willing to play up, so I didn't think there was a problem here.  You should never expect anything when you go to a tournament.  These responses to your question have been on point.  Not ridiculous.  The fact that you are asking for more is the main reason why people don't want to run tournaments.  Everyone has an opinion but no one has actions.  No one step up and does things except for a few people. Then they are criticized for trying to put something together.

And this notion that you pay $25 dollars for  a PRIVILEGE is just absurd.  AGAIN you were 1 stroke away from the guy who cashed.  You had a chance in that division. You just blew it.  Sorry to be so harsh but dude.  You were in it and you lost.  You were there and you blew up the 2nd round.  I can't just put you with people with no arms because you want to win or get something for showing up.

Here .. This is probably more your speed:

The Kansas City Disc Golf Day!

It's an all day event that doesn't calculate your score, cost $15 and you get a tshirt or a disc.  I think these types of things are more up your alley.

Saying that I blew it kind of proves that you have no idea where I'm coming from. My first round I shot well, second round should have been a couple strokes better. But even on a good day for me I can't compete with those scores. I think everybody is making way more of what I said then what it really is. Like I said in my previous post, it was all my fault. So everybody could really stop being so defensive. I guess I just got lucky that the first 4 or 5 tourneys I played in were all better suited for me to play in.

Dick, thank you for putting on this tourney and making down under a great place to enjoy a round of golf. The work you have done down there is amazing. Next time you have a work day down under I will try to make it out to help.

Some of the responses in here are rediculous. The fact that some of you guys think that $25 is a cheap price for the "privelage" to play is absurd. My whole point of the post is that a tournament such as this is really not set up for players such as myself. Like I said before I now know, and will stay away from tournaments such as this and leave it to the big guns like it was meant to be.

or you could just take that as motivation to improve your game, so next time you can compete.

it's getting to the point that everyone wants a prize or trophy just for showing up.

Wow, thanks for that helpful post.  ::)

It's not that $25 is a large chunk of money for me at all. But disc golf is no different than anything else, I want to get my moneys worth.

But I mean no offense to anybody. This is my own fault, I should have not came to play an event that did not have a division that I feel I could compete in.

AMs got paid out in merchindise.  All the cash you paid in went back to your division ONLY and was paid out in plastic.  So you are not paying 25 dollars for a scorecard.  But as an AM you can not win cash.  Just merchindise.  Which John from DGW brought a couple boxes worth and then the winners could pick from there and exchange what they got for equal value at disc golf world.

$25 dollars is a pretty cheap amount for a tournament.  When I took this over 2 years ago it was $30 for AMs.  I dropped it for that reason.

Thanks for the answer,  I'm aware that ams don't get paid in cash that is why I view this the way I do. Only having two divisions creates a problem for a golfer like myslef. I stand no chance of placing near the top when you got guys shooting as well as they did in the Am division. So I'm saying realizing that I will take no prizes home I have absolutely no motivation to come out and donate my money to play 2 rounds of golf with absolutely no extras. I now know better.

$25 is super cheap, if you expect those things, you should plan on paying closer to $50/event

$25 is quite expensive for a scorecard. I come to something like this realizing that my ability is not great enough to compete for the cash, but knowing it should be fun. But, I always have fun playing disc golf for free. What is my motivation to come out and donate $25?

I played both rounds, I just didn't hang out to see what was paid out because I knew I had nothing coming. That is why I asked what payed out to the ams.

I bailed after my round was over so I could get home to watch the MU game. I am curious as to what the payout was for the AM division. I ask this because with no player pack/lunch it seems like $25 is way too much to pay for a tournament that you have no chance of taking home cash.

This is a great putter. I picked one up at DGW yesterday and it replaced my Aviar as my numbert one putter after just a few holes. I am shocked, usually brand new disc and I don't get along very well.

General Banter / Re: construction of tee pads-brainstorming
« on: February 13, 2009, 09:15:02 AM »
It seems to me they are trying to save money by having students build them for free. However they will probably regret the decision in a couple of years when the pads are not level and they become dangerous to use, and they have to spend more money to repair them. Which seems to me the most likely scenario here unless this is done absolutely perfect. Unfortunately I have no advice because I know very little about concrete construction. I just know that tee pads made of multiple pieces will not be useful nearly as long as tee pads that are poured as one piece on sight.

General Banter / Re: Disc Golf in Virginia

I learned to play at Bayville in Virginia Beach. It is a fun short course with most holes being 200-250ft. Although I think nearly every hole had either a second tee or a 2 baskets so it could play longer, but I was a newb and liked playing short. Here is a walkthrough of the course:

Newport News is a great course, nice combo of open and tightly wooded holes.

Here is a link to the pdga course directory.

I would recomend Newport News, Bayville, Munden Point, and Bennets Creek. Indiantown was ok, not really worth going out of you way for. Stay away from the Ace Run Ranch, it is a private course that is not kept up.
