« on: December 29, 2009, 06:47:42 PM »
Am headed to the San Fran area for a week in January (16-23), am really stoked about playing the courses around there.

http://www.sfdiscgolf.org/courses/courses.html

DEF playin'  Golden Gate Park, Napa, Berkley and De Laveaga (quote, "This 27-hole mammoth course is full of hills and tree hazards." <-- BRING IT ON!!!).  Seriously pumped!  Then get back just in time for Ice Bowl!  Broken wrist be damned, I'm getting a LOT more golf in this year!

Go Easy all

General Banter / Johnson County Parks home page

Was browsing for jobs this morning, and went to the Johnson County Parks page, and right there on the main page is a pic of some kids tossing discs at a basket!  Thought that was kinda cool.

Wow, I didn't even know Savannah HAD a course!  When is St. Joe going to get more than the 9 at Missouri Western?  I might make the trek up just to see the one in Savannah.

General Banter / Re: Good New for FireFox users. Bad news for IE
« on: December 18, 2008, 08:50:39 AM »
Firefox tends to be a memory hog, Opera is a good one to try out - that said I use Firefox.   If you're on a MAC you can get Firefox, but Safari tends to be a better choice.  Or you can buck it up and run Linux, no worries about virus and crap.  If anyone is interested I'd be happy to help set up a Linux box - I run Ubuntu, but SUSE is a good one also.  Actually, I've got an old PC with Ubuntu loaded, and a monitor if someone would want to trade a Monarch or ROC (or any other good beginner disc).  It's a Pentium III, and I think only 512 RAM, probably only a 20 or 30 gb HDD, but it runs Linux fine.  It's not worth much, and it's just taking up space in my closet, so I'd trade for a disc...  Anyway, IE is a POS, hands down worst browser in my book; besides being a memory hog it's unstable and code bloated.  A quick Google search will show there are several browsers out there, some more lightweight than others, but if you've got enough memory on your box you pretty much can't go wrong with Firefox.  Not to mention is has a number of add-ons (I like Foxmarks) that make it pretty customisable and user friendly.

Just my two cents,
Jason

Had a good time, I think the arrows are a great addition to the course, there was even one spot seemed obvious to me, until some guys playing came up and went the wrong way!  Good thing we were hanging the arrow then and there, so it is needed.  Anyway, great to meet everyone, I'll try to make it out next weekend if I can - don't forget to charge your drills!
Go Easy,

I can get to working on the signs; Dick you said 12 inch 2x4 cut on the ends right?  Kinda like:   "  <===  "  Painted hunter orange right?  How many?  I know 18 for all the main pads, how many alternatives do you need?  Should I go ahead and get lettering or do you want to take care of that when we hang the signs?  Give me the word and I'll get to it this week.  I will be free Saturday (excluding league) and Sunday afternoon, so lemme know when you're planning on everyone being out there.

My buddy Steve and I were just talking about putting up some directional signs the other day - I believe I mentioned this to you Dick.  Anyway, we were thinking plywood painted hunter orange and put them throughout the course esp in places like 11 to 12.  Being a "newbie" to both disc golf and the course, I had a hard time the first few times knowing where to go, hence why I was thinking arrow signs.  Anyway, I'll talk to you about it Saturday (if the warden lets me out).

I may be changed to Sunday.  It all depends on the weather for Sat morn.  There is talk of Snow.  DU and SNOW dont really work together but We'll see .  Keep looking here for updates.  Yes I think Bright colored pieces of BC in the somewhat shape work.  Another Idea I have is just a 12" section of 2x4 painted bright orange with the same idea.  And I think with be easier to cut quickly.  I did it for my mini course (using a YELLOW) and they look great.

Sounds good, Sunday it is.  I like the 2x4 idea, goes right along with what we were thinking; any sort of directional arrow that can easily be seen.

Dick are you still on for this Saturday?  I was planning on coming out to help.  Might be able to get Critter to come along also.

Found and Lost / Lost yellow Odysey on 12 at Rosedale
« on: October 28, 2008, 03:58:22 PM »
*Sorry, posted this in Rosedale forum originally, moved here*

Hey all, if anyone finds a yellow Odysey on 12 please let me know.  It's got my name and number on it, *SHOULD* be readable.  Somehow I shanked it from 13 and I *THINK* it's in the open around the pin for 12, but for the life of me couldn't find it.  I guess it's time to get pink discs or something easier to find!
Thanks
Jason
