Played Herrington a couple years ago, and it was a fun time fer sure.  I believe it's Dennis Vahsholtz that runs it.  They play it on a Country Club course now though, which is a different layout than when I played it last.  That's not much, but that's what I got.

Looks like Cathy's not playing tomorrow.  I'm definitely playing.  Now the ponder is whether or not I drive back and forth for both days, or stay the night....hmmmm...... ::)

I love me some Shunga, but due to my work schedule continually jacking with my fun, (not to mention the pool change for the GBO, and playing the Monkey Island the next day), figured it was worth getting a look at the new course.  Ya'll have fun in Topeka!   8)

The only thing I didn't like about it was jumping thru your arse to get to the next venue in between rounds.  That and finding something to eat at the same time.  Otherwise, the courses and folks were/are great.  8)

Don't get me wrong.  I'm not hating on it, and I understand the Ratings minimums, etc...

I sometimes just don't get why people don't want to challenge themselves.....move up, get better.  8)

What's with all the 900+ rated folks playin' Intermediate?.....quoting Chris Carter, amongst others...."C'mon man!"  ;D

I used to be an avid runner in a time long forgotten as well, and I can totally relate to the beer gut......but I digress.....lol

I totally get that it's not going to change anytime soon, and that it's been so ingrained that it's all they/we care to know.  It really needs to be figured out how to get away from that, especially if they/we want to progress the game going forward.  The feeling of being *entitled*, (did I just say that?), to a payout for Am's has been getting a bit nuts.  I do like that, for example, the GBO has narrowed it down to how many they are going to "pay" this year, whereas in the past, the pay would go as far down as 15th?-20th?  That's just silly.

Don't get me wrong, not trying to be "that guy", and I don't see it changing anytime soon as well.  It seriously needs to be looked in to going forward though.  Especially when looking to make payouts better for the actual "Pro's".

Business model? Ok. I was just being real. Sorry it doesn't fit in to the "Paid Amateur" model people want. I'm an event planner. I would rather give back to every player with a massive event then give a few amateurs a payday. But what do I know?

Coming from a "ball golf" background, payouts to Amateur's are just silly IMHO.  Trophy's for the top spot, and maybe the top 3 depending on the Tier of the tournament is what I think.  You want a payout, move the heck up.  You typically get a schwag bag from beyond for showing up.  There shouldn't be a need to add to it with a payout on top of that.  Trophy only for Am's is the way it is there, and pretty much everything else you could/can compete in.  And yes, I play the Am side quite often.  If I win great, if I lose, go practice more.......I know this isn't going to be a popular post, but there, I said it.  Next.....  ;D
