I have received nothing of a response, so I guess people don't want to eat and talk disc golf?

SERIOUSLY???
You give people a one week notice, and you're surprised that there's no response.

I realize that the club may be operating under new bylaws depending on the vote at advertised meeting. But even if there were some chance that it doesn't pass and the club is operating under the current bylaws shouldn't "A call of nominations have been announced to all active (dues-paid) members via postal mail and/or email notification 30 days before the fall general membership meeting." As stated in the current bylaws, or is the EC just assuming that new bylaws will pass....which could, of course, happen if no one besides the EC had a reasonable amount of notice to clear their schedules for the election.

Thanks for all the work you've done on the ratings, and for the Point Series League. It was a GREAT time with some very fun people! I look forward to seeing it again next year.

That's it.

So...do the 3 women not count as people??  Or did Jen just nicely ask you not to publish our scores.  :)

Furthermore, I'm not trying to say we need long courses set up, but a fair and balance set up would be appreciated.   Let the handicaps be the advantage and not the course.

I won't be playing the second session, so maybe it will be more "fair" for everyone.

This is no way shape or form has anything to do with you or anyone else.   I hope you stay in the league.  The fairness is not with in the league or anyone playing it.

I think I have always been consistent in "whining" when a course is all short.  It is not fun golf to me.

Sorry Dick, I should have worded my response better. I didn't mean to imply that I wouldn't be in session 2 because of your post!!!! I have had a blast playing in the first round, and hate that I won't be able to play round 2, but too many other priorities are vying for my time for the next few months. It has been a really fun group of people to play with!

Disc Golf Topics for Women / Re: Women's Night Out

What night would work for the ladies to get together and play?

I love the idea of the event! For me, the best night would be a day...Saturday or Sunday. : ) But if it needed to be a night, Tuesday would be my first choice, and Monday my second. Although I'd have to play Cliff Drive league every now and again, just because I finally don't hate the course. (okay, I really even like it a lot now!)

To avoid stepping on duck heads, you should aim for the right side of 17's fairway!  :'(

Jack,

I guess it just gives me pause, when someone who is asking for input or opinions on a subject from the discussion board is discouraged from doing so.

I agree that getting advice from the EC is important, but the EC is a very closed entity. The minutes from the meetings are not usually posted, and the meetings are never announced so that anyone interesting in the decisions being made could attend. So, the message board is one of the few places for the "other" club members voices to be heard.

People more quickly step up to support that in which they have ownership. Having a place to provide input on a topic fosters that feeling.

Back to my cave now. :)

Getting information from the folks reading online is not the answer, the answer is get the information you need from the people that step up and do the work, and make the events happen.

That almost sounds like you are saying that the people reading online don't step up and do any of the work. That only the EC does the work. And only those who've "always done it" are the only ones with any wisdom to impart.

Tournaments / Re: Club Championships 2009 - Oct - 24th & 25th

BTW there was a certain person who showed up late for the last round for a couple holes.
It couldn't have happened to a better person!! HA HA!!
Stroke--Stroke--Stroke

The group let him play one hole though.
Do you think if the tables were turned he'd be as forgiving? HUH-UH
Cause he's too woried about winning instead of being a good sport.

Sometimes, with our actions, we invite the very behavior we say we don't want. Do you REALLY think postings like this are going to encourage Jack, or anyone, to treat you better...or might you be perpetuating the situation? Just something to think about.
