sanctioning events has alot of benifits that come with it though. the obvious is of course, the out of towners that will travel. when i was playing as much as i was in michigan, thats all we did was go to sanctioned events( we would travel up to 4hrs, and even came to the KCWO). the one or two non sanctioned events we played had a huge difference in attendance. alot of the PDGA members want to go to these tournies and get the most out of those membership dues.
although its late in the season, AMs where i came from wanted to get in as many sanctioned events as possible to get more pts and or their ratings up so they could play in AM Nationals with an invite. Not only that, but most AMs that I know, really enjoy working on their personal ratings and trying to get a personal best rated round. Did you all watch the webisodes of Jeremy Takes on the Worlds?
this whole deal with "what about my beer" and "but we have to wear nice clothes" is laughable man. because when it comes down to it, we police ourselves and we all see what acually happens on the course during these events. people are dressed like they just walked out of the salvation army, people are getnn there drank on, and people are smoking lettuce, and no one gives a damn and fun is usually had by all.
by the way, i cant spell worth a crap and frankly my dear, i dont give a damn. $0.02
