I'm planning on showing up tonight with a cooler full of Ace beer!

I had no problems with any of the pro masters playing.  I think it really makes for a interesting mashup of potential young pros with seasoned master players.  The tougher players are the soon to be pros playing AMs (>970 refused cash).  I think you just have to accept that in big AM tournaments you are going to have these players.  Bowling green has probably the biggest non-major AM tournament:

The advanced field is littered with these pro AM players who have refused open cash in smaller tournaments.

I expect this tournament to grow.  The sandbagging will grow right along with it.

I can't imagine how frustrated you must be Utz.  Unless your caddy was being loud or obnoxious the person who ratted on you is a tool.

From a TD perspective they have to apply the rules consistently.  They can't take into account how much a person does for their local club, or for their local course, etc.  So when the rat confronted them about the issue they had no choice.  I am pointing this out just because it's important to understand where  to channel your frustration.   I don't think it should be directed at the great event that was put on.

Sorry again buddy and good shooting this weekend.

I'm sure PB will be relieved.  He has been stressing getting a new groove broken in just right.

For whatever reason I receive emails from Lenexa Parks Department.  Here is an email I received today:

Lenexa residents are about to have an exciting new recreational and fitness amenity at Sar-Ko-Trails Park. The city's first disc golf course is planned to open later this week in the eastern part of the park. Located behind the Indian Trails Aquatic Center and south of the skate park, the new nine-hole disc golf course is perfect for families looking for a fun outing or even experienced disc golf players who want to practice their putting skills.

Disc golf is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. A map showing the overall course as well as signage about each hole is provided at the course. Participants must supply their own discs.

They also included a map with the hole lengths.

Average Hole Length: 177'
Shortest Hole: 123'
Longest Hole: 219'

I decided to be productive @ work and make a spreadsheet with player ratings.  There were a couple expired and 1 no pdga so it isn't 100% accurate.  However, it's exciting how evenly matched the teams appear to be:

The average team rating of East: 962.6.  The average team rating of West: 963.4

Leagues / Re: 2014 KCFDC PDGA League

Oh, yea my last post was a little confusing.  I was only trying to say that each round is calculated separate now.  Previously, it appeared that all rounds were linked together which was causing some real whack ratings.

The propagators (individuals with enough rated rounds) have the most influence on scores.

I think a 12-13 point difference from similar conditions / layout is acceptable.  On that evening some of the propagators probably shot a little better than normal so it brought the overall ratings down a bit.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but this last ratings update they fixed the PDGA leagues.  Now every round is calculated individually (as it should be).  The example I used,
68 at big blue, is now a 967 round. worries on changing courses, changing layouts, etc etc.  Yay.

I would like a Monday or Tuesday K-7 league that rotates between:

I still have concerns about rotating courses on a single PDGA league.  Maybe it would be possible to do separate PDGA leagues for each course?  I am not sure if this would incur additional cost though?

I think most people want to play PDGA leagues for the ratings.  I am not a huge ratings snob but it seems as though there might be a problem doing different courses on one PDGA league?

Take round 10 for the Northeast league:

This round was played at Big Blue.  CD and I both shot a 68 and got a 885 rating.  A 68 during the Wide Open was 980 (same layout, similar conditions, etc).

Basically what is happening is that the scores are processed for the entire league.  If you look a 68 is always a 885 regardless if you played at cliff or BV.

Maybe PDGA just needs to fix their crap?  If you wanted to inflate your rating you could just go to league nights when its an easier course, easier layout, and favorable conditions.

Tournaments / Re: KCWO Artwork
« on: February 19, 2014, 06:20:08 pm »
I am imagining an interesting concept for the artwork.  It could be an overhead 3/4 view of Kansas City except all the famous landmarks and buildings are falling over or on fire because of a severe earthquake caused by two giant hands reaching down and tearing a huge gash in the ground right in the middle of the city!

Out of the flaming sinkhole emerges a huge disc golf basket, and in the foreground of the image a giant flying disc is spinning through the sky right at it.

Maybe something similar but with the Kauffman Center.  This in a foil stamp would be cool.
