General Banter / Re: Car broken into - Bag stolen

Damn Van, that really blows.   You are the 2nd person who I've heard from that's gotten their bag ganked.  I have an Innova Birdie you are more than welcome to.   I never use it.

Note to anyone:
Never leave anything of personal importance in your car when you aren't there.

Justin, I agree that you should hide some stuff in your car (and my wallet was hidden in my glove box), but you really can't clean out your car each day of all the personal stuff.  Sometimes, it is just not prudent.

I would have loved to get some of my discs back....glad some things are being returned....sounds like kids though if they are throwing em in ppls yard

Jack, I agree it was a bunch of kids...they dropped my debit card just 2 houses down along with some of the stuff hanging on my bag...and the fact 13 discs were just stacked in some bushes 2 blocks away...well...yeah, kids!  They had no idea on what to with that stuff after they had stolen it.

I might be able to help you out with some hand me downs(bag and straps) so you can get back on the course van.

BJ is gonna be bummed he didn't get that 39 from ya. ;D

What... too soon. ;)

Lee, thanks, but I do have a small bag that holds about 8 discs that I can use until I can upgrade again.  I appreciate the offer though.  It is nice to know we DG'ers stick together.

Ok, so my debit card, 2 golf towels, Ace Race key chain, and PDGA renew tag were returned this evening by a lady who lives down the block...she found them in her yard.

About an hour later, someone called me and told me he found a bunch of my 13 of 21 discs and my water bottle back from my bag.

I am still missing my bag with straps, #39 bag tag (which I owe to someone), my #110 bag tag (which I got from the same person I owe the #39), 2 minis, some notepads that I write my scores down on, and some odds and ends.

Someone is looking out for me and helping me get some of my stuff back.

Shane -

Thanks for that!  Yep, it took place in my driveway.  They did not take my GPS, which was sitting next to my wallet in the glove box (but took my debit card out of my wallet).  They did not get into my trunk where I have my backup discs (I should have at least one replacement for each of the ones stolen).  The hardest part will be the replacement of my bag and shoulder straps.  I will take donations next week at Swope League.   ;D

When I got into my car this morning to go to work, I noticed something wrong with the driver's side door, and quickly found my debit card had been stolen, things had been moved around, and my bag and discs were gone.  It did not make for a good beginning to the day.  Please keep your eyes out for my discs.  They all have my name (Van Spratford) and phone number (816-665-1906) in them, and all the Innova discs have the disc's ratings written on the back.

Thanks -

P.S. To Kevin, who I owe the #39 bag tag, sorry, it is gone.

Had a blast...shot my best two rounds of the year so far (one up top and one DU).  Thanks to Becky and Tavish for putting it on.  Thanks to David for grilling the burgers.  Thanks to Dick for the awesome (as usual) Mini Golf round.  Thanks to Fred for the helpful hints on my drives...hopefully it will help in the long run.  And, finally, thanks to anyone else I am forgetting that helped out.

General Banter / Charlotte, NC courses
« on: May 05, 2011, 11:00:39 am »
Hey all -

I am heading to Charlotte, NC for a week and will have plenty of time to DG while I am there.  I will be in the southern end of the metro area.  I have looked at DG Course Review and PDGA for courses there, but still want advice on which ones to go play.  Any suggestions?  Courses to avoid?

Swope League 5/2/11

What a beautiful night for some discin'.  We had 10 out, which ties our 2011 record so far :o .  I know we can do better than that folks.  It was a close race in Open 1, with only 3 shots separating the field of 3 contenders.  Thanks to Arturo for bringing out the Ace Beer (and Mt. Dew for me) from 2 weeks ago, which was enjoyed by all.  With 10 getting into the Ace Pot, the fund goes up to $184.   Shane W. took the CTP prize, a 2009 Worlds Hat.  Before the round, Lee moved #10 to the middle position since Corporate Challenge was done.

Open 1 -
     Arturo V.     49 - $15
     CD S.          51
     Lee K.         51

Open 2 -
      Brian G.      53 - $9
      Jason L.      57
      David Z.      57

Am -
      Bill S.          57 - $9 KC Kash
      Nate F.       59 - $6 KC Kash
      Ian N.         61
      Shane W.    69

Next league will be Monday, May 9th at 6pm.
