General Banter / Car broken into - Bag stolen
« on: May 11, 2011, 06:48:13 AM »
When I got into my car this morning to go to work, I noticed something wrong with the driver's side door, and quickly found my debit card had been stolen, things had been moved around, and my bag and discs were gone.  It did not make for a good beginning to the day.  Please keep your eyes out for my discs.  They all have my name (Van Spratford) and phone number (816-665-1906) in them, and all the Innova discs have the disc's ratings written on the back.

Thanks -

Van

P.S. To Kevin, who I owe the #39 bag tag, sorry, it is gone.

Had a blast...shot my best two rounds of the year so far (one up top and one DU).  Thanks to Becky and Tavish for putting it on.  Thanks to David for grilling the burgers.  Thanks to Dick for the awesome (as usual) Mini Golf round.  Thanks to Fred for the helpful hints on my drives...hopefully it will help in the long run.  And, finally, thanks to anyone else I am forgetting that helped out.

General Banter / Charlotte, NC courses
« on: May 05, 2011, 11:00:39 AM »
Hey all -

I am heading to Charlotte, NC for a week and will have plenty of time to DG while I am there.  I will be in the southern end of the metro area.  I have looked at DG Course Review and PDGA for courses there, but still want advice on which ones to go play.  Any suggestions?  Courses to avoid?

Swope League 5/2/11

What a beautiful night for some discin'.  We had 10 out, which ties our 2011 record so far :o .  I know we can do better than that folks.  It was a close race in Open 1, with only 3 shots separating the field of 3 contenders.  Thanks to Arturo for bringing out the Ace Beer (and Mt. Dew for me) from 2 weeks ago, which was enjoyed by all.  With 10 getting into the Ace Pot, the fund goes up to $184.   Shane W. took the CTP prize, a 2009 Worlds Hat.  Before the round, Lee moved #10 to the middle position since Corporate Challenge was done.

Open 1 -
     Arturo V.     49 - $15
     CD S.          51
     Lee K.         51

Open 2 -
      Brian G.      53 - $9
      Jason L.      57
      David Z.      57

Am -
      Bill S.          57 - $9 KC Kash
      Nate F.       59 - $6 KC Kash
      Ian N.         61
      Shane W.    69

Next league will be Monday, May 9th at 6pm.

I am going to plan a Wide Open meeting probably next Monday or Tuesday night.  I am working on a location that makes sense since Danny's has music, but we may be able to use the back room again for the meeting.

I will keep the meeting to under an hour or so of your time.  Please be prepared for final information by tomorrow at the latest.

Your help will make this event big, your lack of help will mean that you miss a great event!

You don't wanna be that person do you?

:-)

Mild guilt trip...I'm just saying...

I will be vacationing during the week of May 23 and will need someone to cover running league for me that night.  I know it is about a month away, but I thought I would get this set up now while I am still thinking about it.

Anyone willing to help?

Swope League 4/25/11

I was right, the rain did hold off until after we finished our rounds, though there was a bit of sprinkling with about 4 holes left. So, though it was dark and humid out, we stayed dry.

We had 8 out for league.  There was no wind, and so overall scores were low.  Several people had near aces, hitting the chains and spitting through...I heard of at least 4 and witnessed 1.  The story of the night was Miles M. hitting two separate turkeys (3 birdies in a row) on the back nine.  With 8 getting into the Ace Fund, it goes up to $174.  The CTP T-shift also went to Miles M.

Open 2:
     Miles M.      48 - $12.00
     Jay C.        49 - $8.00
     Bret L.        52 - $4.00
     Rod B.        54
     Ben C.        55
     BJ F.          55
     Shane W.    59
