Cliff Drive Course Committee
3/3/11 Meeting Minutes

Present:   Drew Neitzel, Jack Lowe, Mark Morales, Mike Keizer, Mike Penney, Terry Adams

DLST March 13th , Official KCFDC Start Date for Summer Leagues is April 1st.  We will try a Sunday night league at Cliff Drive this year.  Ace Fund will be continued from Monday Leagues this year.  Sunday Drive will remain separate with the winter schedule.
   4:00 pm this Sunday as a test run.

2 Workdays to Schedule
   A:     Trash and general course maintenance for beginning of leagues
      Sunday, March 20th  9am.
   B:   Honeysuckle Removal for new holes
      Date TBD, hopefully a Saturday in March of April

3 events currently planned for Cliff Drive
   A:   Kansas City Wide Open – June 10-12
      Proposed Layout:   1w, 2w,3w,4b,5r,6w,7b,8b,9w,10b
               11b,12w,13b,14b,15r,16o,17w,18b
      Need to put out tee signs and repaint OB
   B:   Lions Den – August 20th
      Some tweaking to last years layout, still to be determined
   C:   Tree Love Classic – September 17th or 18th
      Fundraiser for Trees at Cliff Drive
                PDGA C-Tier, Possibly under their Competition Endowment
                                   Program (Need 501c3)
      Discussion on tree locations and species

Sorry for the lateness but I feel like having a league.  This sunday.  4:00 pm.  be there or be square.  Only those attending shall have a vote on the format.

Jon Winfrey, an Advanced Grand Master and President of the Lawrenceburg Disc Golf Association in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, will be traveling to KC for a business conference April 2-6.  He would like some local disc golfers to join him as he tours our courses.  I know there are several of you who would be glad to show him around.  I will direct him to this forum.  Who's available?

So . . . . . I know i promised two weeks notice but how 'bout a blue valley round this sunday?   chiefs play at 3:00 so there should be some people free.  bring $10 for dubs but we will vote on cost and format when we get there.  9:30 tee.  come walk some of that turkey off at blue valley.  those of you playing pc or du or any casual rounds saturday, please spread the word.

Cliff Drive / Update

Been quiet for a while so here's what's going on:

-Cliff Drive has its own FaceBook page.  66 followers to date.  keep 'em coming.

-All the new and replacement pins are set.  Hope everyone has a chance to check them out.  A couple are currently in use.  Will be getting out there this week to get measurements.  Look for updated maps and scorecards in the near future. 

-Sunday Drive has been scaled back.  Look for once, maybe twice a month sunday league at Cliff Drive or Blue Valley.  A couple new OB changes will be in effect so be sure to listen up at your next players meeting. 

-The practice basket was stolen.  No details as of yet but a replacement has been installed along with permanent 10m markers.  (p.s. i have the red and blue baskets until next week.  They are not stolen.)

-KCFDC passed new by-laws and we will be applying for 501 c3 status with the IRS.  As a result I (Drew) am no longer a course coordinator but a member of the Cliff Drive Course Committee.  Anyone else who would like to join, please reply in this forum or send me a PM. 

-To keep a promise I made to the KCFDC, the Cliff Drive Corridor Committee, and to the KCMO P&R, I will be continuing my work on the reservoir.  Every thing must go and everyone is invited to help.

-Rumors that three new holes are in the works are true.  Look for CD to become a 21 hole course until we are forced off of current 13-15.  all suggestions are welcome.  let the discussion begin.

-With the wind out of the North here lately, try hole 8 to the hanging basket.  It actually moves with a North wind. 

-17 is on the island now and will stay for a few weeks.  Hope everyone has been enjoying this beautiful weather by throwing some plastic.

Starting in November, due to lack of attendance, I am scaling back sunday drive to one or two rounds per month.  i will post on here and facebook when and where (cd or bv) we will meet.  I will be at cliff drive this sunday 10/31 at 9:30 and 1:30 if anyone cares to join me.

I have started a facebook page for cliff drive.  i'm new to facebook so give me some time to get some good info and updates going.  could use some comments on what people want to see.  maps and scorecards will be posted sometime.  bring on the smack talk but no personal agendas.

Slant, Wink and I showed up in the morning and though they kicked my butt all over my course score wise, they were nice enough to let me take 12 skins.

1st session only five players showed up so we played all cali.  second session, no one showed but me so i hit the links w gammon up at cardinal hill in liberty.  it was ugly but i barely broke 100 and he didnt so i win.
