Cliff Drive / Re: Pin Placements

Heads up!   Hole 6 has been moved to the short location.  For those souls that are glutton for punishment, a basket now sits in the long placement but some additional work still needs done for it to be realistically playable.

"T&D is not a generally acceptable risk/reward design element for the game – disc golf and ball golf alike."

Wrong.  Ball golf OB has always been stroke and distance and is a huge design element for the game.  They also label different types of hazards, also a crucial design element.  Some of these are stroke and distance, some are last place crossed, some you can play out of with additional rules being applied.

Not saying I disagree with the PDGA increasing oversight on the "Circus golf", but claiming ball golf rules are simpler is simply not true.

Throw it in the fairway and you don't have to worry about spotters  8).

And if we had that good of control of our discs, we wouldn't be Ams.

Pros at leagues aren't necessarily pros.  Lots of those people were playing the event.  I typically play pro at leagues (or Masters  :-X  ;D) but I'm only a pro at laying up from 12 feet  :-[.  I was only listing people who play pro at sanctioned events who's payout is boosted by many of the Ams playing this tournament.

And, I do consider caddying as helping beyond their game.  The pros can help keep a group of Ams moving as they "should" know the rules better (picture Rick's dream for the RAC), can notice things an Am might not notice out on the course and report back to me, might be willing to run an errand for me or help out in other ways briefly should I have chosen to ask them to do something.

All I was saying was it was nice to see these people's smiling faces out and about at an Am only event and agree that it would have been nice to see a few more of them.

Heard the same sentiment from several players.  Would like to point out a few people who normally play in pro divisions who i saw helping out.

Scott Reek - TD
Pete Cashen - Water
Cooper Arnold - Swope CD
LaRon Harris - Caddying
Ryan Keck - Caddying
Coda Hatfield - Caddying
Jamie Danger - Spotting both mornings, brought some breakfast to share
Ron Klein-Mo - Spotting, My assistant course director Saturday
Ken Franks - PGA Championship updates Sunday
Utz - Marshall duties (I'm just guessing  :-\)

Though not one to argue......

After starting off like that, how are we supposed to take the rest of this post seriously?  :P

all these are moved with exception of 6, its still middle.  Short left not currently trimmed enough for play.

We can move it around a touch. Here is what I was thinking....
1-original
2-Long
3-SHORT
4-Rocks
5-Short
6-Left
7-Middle
8-Trees
9-Long
10-Middle
11-Long
12-Short
13-Long
14-Short
15-Tree
16-Waterfountain
17-Peninsula
18-Tree

That should be a good mix of long/short and still leave some of the long for the daylight we have available for folks, but makes it more human as well. Heard some good things from those that did bother to play it as well as many a compliment from local on the "uber long" layout. Thanks all.

Anthony, thanks for sharing your thoughts.  Too many people think because they are volunteering, it puts them above reproach.  I read your post as entirely constructive and appreciate the feedback.  I have no doubt that we could have been better prepared for the vast array of disc golf knowledge present in the crowd.  Anyone wishing to critique my efforts that weekend, feel free.  There's nothing thin about me.  :-)

Cliff is close.....I think #17(probably short) and #7 (will go long) are the ones that will move.

Currently it sits-
1-original (long left right)
2-Long
3-only
4-Short Right
5-Long
6-Original (Tunnel left right)
7-will be long I believe yes
8-Trees
9-only
10-middle (top hill left right)
11-Long (around reservoir)
12-Only
13-Long Middle
14-Short Middle
15-Under tree
16-Short Long
17-Uncertain Short
18-Original (Right by road) Hey, it only took Jack 18 holes to learn his right from left  ;D

I could of course be wrong, but it is close from what I was told by the Course Director.... ;D
Cliff Drive is currently set for City of Fountains.  Hole 17 short may be out of commission on thursday afternoon to reset the sleeve from the recent nearby construction.  (weather permitting)

I, unfortunately, have not had the chance to play the Emporia Muni course.  I will venture to say that PP is the best deuce or die course I've ever played, including ww medium, mcclure and fountain hills pre re-design ('05).  I heard that the Muni course is similar in skill requirement to ECC and Jones Gold/Mix.  Glad to see DD have the forethought to require a full skill-set other than length, to compete at their ultimate championship.   #peoplecomplainingaboutpeterpanparkinemporiadontknowhowmuchtheyarespoiled

I agree.  They know what they're doing is illegal.  Large signs are just a blank canvas to be tagged, attracting a whole different type of criminal.  They'd become and eye-sore quickly, and it's not cost effective to continually clean/replace them.  And don't count out those crazy college kids who think an "Illegal Dumping Prohibited, $10,000 Fine" sign would be a nice piece of artwork to hang above their throne.
