while i also have my issues with some things the pdga does, in general, i support the structure they are giving the sport.  i can't speak for other TD's in the area as to why they choose to sanction or not sanction (though i suspect most TD's have a strong stance either way).  i personally like having the documented rules in place to lean on instead of using arbitrary rules that i must enforce on the players who are also my friends (i had to stroke jlowe last year  :-\).  i grew up an athlete and this sport fills that void for me.  plus pdga events have the potential to draw more people from out of town.

just like last year, the ace fund will be 100% if it gets hit.  if no ace is hit, we will do a short ctp for 50/50 with 1/2 going to the tree fund.

can't say for sure but i believe these events were unsanctioned in kc this year:
  andy and deano's bday
twisted at old pike and ww
  DUI
  eastern front
  SSR
  ddkc traveling one days
  LDO
  RAC
  club championships
  hitting chains for BACA
  Mo PR BlueBird Series
  Afternoon d-lite
  Ace race

How much from each entry goes towards the trees?

its not a specific number for each player.  that will depend on the players pack margins this year and the number of ams vs pros.  Last yr. we raised ~$300 with 17 players.  the low turnout was mostly my fault and i am trying to improve on several things this year.

Trophy only Am's??? Yuck!

What will the player pack be?  How many places get trophies?

You and your "one finger" just need to move up.  ;)  Last yr was a shirt and a disc.  don't quite have the players pack nailed down for this year yet.  hopefully, i'll have that info out by next week.  Its a lower entry fee than most pdga events for a reason, its more of an awareness raiser than a fundraiser.  this tourney is not for the ams who want to take home a stash of plastic to sell on ebay.  you want to make money move up.  you want to play for a W, pride, bragging rights, Emporia Worlds points, PDGA ratings, and a trophy for a good cause, play whatever division you are eligible for.  i was well over the pdga minimums last year for fundraisers on both the am and the pro side.  the players pack value will be about the value of the entry minus trophy costs.  pdga does not waive their fee without a 501c3.  kcfdc was kind enough to waive their fee since it goes back to the course.  the number of trophies will be based on the number of players in each division to preregister.  i do trophy buzzes so that those who earn them, can do as they please, hang them or throw them or whatever.  trying to be as player friendly as i can with a clear conscience.

FYI, as we did last year, this year the course will play longer the first round than the second.  Last year, I moved 9 pins between rounds.  Look for a similar number this year.  I still need to confirm with Jack and Ryan as to which greens will be playable.  (It sucks trying to host a tournament from 600+ miles away.)  Hopefully will get this finalized this week.  Last years pins were:

1st round:  1w,2w,3w,4r,5r,6w,7w,8b,9w,10w,11b,12w,13b,14b,15r,16w,17temp,18r
2nd round:  1w,2r,3w,4w,5w,6w,7w,8w,9w,10w,11r,12w,13b,14w,15w,16r,17temp,18b

Jamie, do you need anything to get #4 unlocked?

invert the lock.  fill up the lock with penetrating oil thru the keyhole.  try the key with very little force.  dont break the key inside the lock.  if doesnt work, let sit for 24 hrs then repeat.  a light tap with a small hammer on the bottom in the locking direction may speed the process.  make sure there is oil in the lock when performing this step.  2-3 days should do it.  if not, probably time for a new lock.  oiling all the locks on the course couple of times a yr will help deter this from happening.  not a bad investment of ~$3/yr/course in penetrating oil in my opinion.

a few years back, when i still owned a boat and a smithville pass, the marina restaurant hours were extremely variable by season, day of the week, weather, and lake activities (like fishing tournaments).  not sure if its privately leased from the county or if the county actually runs it.  either way, it would be nice to see some dg traffic patronize them so that they could do some sponsorship or specials on tourney weekends.  the meals i had there were quite tasty after a long day on the course/lake.

i made the announcement last year at the players' meeting that jack would oversee this project in my absence(if you were there, danger, you would have already known).  after countless discussions with jack about numerous projects at cliff drive, it was decided to save up the money and do a larger planting when i return.  I have the watering tank and i didn't see the point of putting in trees without a regular supply of water.  seems to be a wise decision given the amount of rain kc is getting this year.  we should be able to get a better deal on the trees and mulch in two years with the money from the first three tournaments.  we raised almost $300 last year and the KCFDC has been kind enough to oversee that money until I return.

the new holes and the trees are separate, independent projects.  we will not be planting any trees on the holes we may be loosing until we have confirmation on their ultimate status.  there are plenty of existing holes in need of numerous trees that have no plans for leaving us (18,17,16,10,11).  we will be starting with those holes, probably in that order.

thanks for the inquiries, danger and khyzer.  :D
