If selected as East Side captain, I would also mandate that if you qualified, you won't be replaced by an alternate if you're available to play. However, I would differ from Joe in that my captain's picks would basically have the same status as qualifiers. They could play as many rounds as able. Alternates would purely be used as needed to fill out the roster as needed. This approach is fair in that it provides ample opportunity for everyone to qualify, but also maximizes an EAST SIDE
victory by making sure top players are able to play all three matches, even if there are scheduling conflicts with qualifiers.
I will likely
follow the 6-6-4 qualifying format as well, with 6 spots selected at the Rosedale Open, 6 spots selected at a WW league, and 4 captain's picks. I would also have to qualify and would act only as the team captain, not a player, if I failed to do so.
As for course selection, we should be playing at a course that plays to the EAST SIDE's strengths, and I have a few ideas on that front. However, that discussion should take place in a more private setting.
