Anybody going? The family and I usually make a weekend of it...

Doubles is scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, July 11th at Albert Oakland Park. Chappy, I see you are the only one registered on - if we team up I think we could win it all (kicking our own a$$es).

General Banter / Camp WIN 2008
« on: June 10, 2008, 04:07:58 PM »
It's time again to volunteer an afternoon teaching the sport we love! I'm looking for three or four volunteers to assist. I may be able to get a large supply of putters from last year... but please bring one portable basket each.

Camp WIN is sponsored by the Women's Intersport Network of the KC Sports Commission, and is held each summer to introduce girls aged 8-14 to 15 different sports throughout the week. This year's event is again held at Rockhurst University, at 55th & Rockhill Rd. Disc Golf is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25th, 2:10-3:40 pm (on the soccer fields).

We can provide all the printed materials we want. Rick or Jack: do we have some sort of flier listing our courses? Didn't someone create a Google Map of our courses?

Last year Becky and Jon Stebbins, and Terry Adams came out. Mark "Surfer Dude" Arnold works at Rockhurst, so he better be there!

Compensation includes the satisfaction of spreading the popularity of the sport we love, and a t-shirt (as if you need another).

Give me a call if you would like to help out. Thanks!

I tuned in to 99.7 The Boulevard just in time to hear the DJ talking about having played the Rosedale DG league last night, thanking Tavish, Dennis, and Rick for a great time, and also inviting the public to the KC Disc Golf Day (this Saturday at Rosey) leading up to support the PDGA World's in '009.

He said that anyone interested in checking out the sport would find that it is relatively inexpensive, great fun, and they will find our group very welcoming!

Good job to all!

Did anyone hear anything about the new Independence Athletic Complex? It's barely 10 minutes from my house, and apparently does NOT include a course. I hate to confess I didn't know anything about it being constructed. The grand opening was rescheduled for this spring (from last October) and their flier includes a Disc Golf demo/challenge.

I don't want to make a cold call without knowing if anyone else was working with them. Thanks!

General Banter / Volunteers for Camp WIN
« on: April 17, 2006, 05:57:43 PM »
Happy Monday (if there is such a thing).  I am looking for up to 7 volunteers to again help with the SportKC Camp WIN (for girls aged 7-12) event to be held at Rockhurst University in late June. The available times are listed below.
I would like to reserve a time that works for the most volunteers. I'm thinking the 12:15 to 1:45 session right after lunch may catch some kids asleep after a busy morning. The girls have "journal" time from 3:45 to 4:00 so maybe the late afternoon session on Wed, June 28th would be best for them to write down how much they loved the Disc Golf right after they play! Take an afternoon off and head to Rosedale afterwards for league...
Monday, June 26:                   12:15-1:45
Tuesday, June 27:                   9:45-11:15 or 12:15-1:45
Wednesday, June 28:             9:45-11:15 or 2:15-3:45
The sooner I select our timeslot, the better! Let me know what times YOU may be available if you are interested.
Jack & Rick, we could use some handouts including league times and maps to the courses. Thanx :^)
