WYCO / 8/19 League

Five showed up for league but only three played. Two were on their way to Omaha for A Call to Arms, myself and Doc. We got things going and hit the road.

It was a nice evening for golf and Tom Butler proved it with a nice 58.

Rained Out!  Sort of.....

12 hardy souls showed up with the weather looking like it was definitely going to storm, and it did. We passed out the cards and headed to our holes just about the time it started raining. Three holes into the round three of the four cards headed for shelter J while one card continue to slog on through the downpour. To no avail however, they too had to stop after six holes. After about a 40 minute rain delay we took to the course as six teams of doubles and played the front nine (1 thru 8 and 18 ).

Tournaments / 21st Frontier Open in Hays Kansas

The Frontier disc golf course will be the site of the 21st Annual Frontier Open September 10 and 11 in Hays. The tournament is a Professional Disc Golf Association B-tier sanctioned event and part of the Kansas Disc Golf Association's annual Oz Tour.

The Frontier open features 72 holes of golf, alternate tee pads, alternate pin placements, closest to pin shots, an ace fund and a putting contest. This year participants will play three rounds of 24 holes. There are divisions for all players at all skill levels. The divisions and fees are as follows:

Open $65;
Pro women, $65;
Masters, $65;
Advanced men, $50;
Advanced masters, $50;
Advanced women, $50;
Intermediate men, $35;
Intermediate women, $35;
Recreational, $35;
Juniors, $15.

Non-PDGA members will pay an additional $5 fee. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. Saturday; for pre-registration visit www.maceman.com. Pay out is based on the number of participants and sponsors. All tournaments are subject to change. Participants should contact the tournament director the day before the tournament for updates/changes.

21st Annual Frontier Open List of Events

This year participants will play three rounds of 24 holes. There will be six temporary holes added to the existing course.

Friday, September 9 east side Frontier Park (pavilion near Tee #15).

• 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Registration.
• 6:30 p.m. Random Draw Doubles competition, Pro and Am pool. The cost will be $10 per person.


Saturday, September 10 east side Frontier Park.

• 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Last call Registration.
• 8:45 a.m. Players meeting.
• 9:00 a.m. Round 1 Tee off.
• One hour lunch break when last group finishes round 1.
• (TBA) Player’s meeting.
• (TBA) Round 2 Tee off.
• 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. Players Party (location to be announced).


Sunday, September 11 east side Frontier Park.

• 9:45 a.m. Players meeting.
• 10:00 a.m. Round 3 Tee off
• (TBA) Awards Ceremony.

The first 90 participants to register will be guaranteed a 21st Annual T-shirt, disc, mini and booklet in the players package.

Great night for golf. Gentle breeze, clouds coming and going, not hot! Great group of 12. Three cards of four finished up with plenty of daylight left.

Great night for league at WyCo to close out July. 10 golfers came out on a warm but not too hot Friday evening. I had a bounty out on #4, stating that as soon as someone took a 3 on that particular location I would move the basket. It had been there for 7 weeks and no 3s had been hit up to last Friday when three people hit it. Carson hit it first followed on another card by Leo and Rick. I haven't moved it yet but look for the position by the creek to be trimmed up and in use this week.

Four on a hot night for league. Tom treated our out of town guest, Steve from D.C., to a dose of KS competition. While Steve came on strong and looked like he was going to give our boy a run for his money he eventually faded and Tom played his usual consistent game to fend off the alien attack by four strokes:

While I agree with Shiny Penny that putting scores all under one group might tidy things up a bit I think I'll stick with the way we've been doing it since it seems to be working. That way you can find the scores by date using the subject line.

Found and Lost / Found Keys at WyCo

Tournaments / Sunburn Open - Springfield on Saturday, then Montgomery Farm

This Saturday is a PDGA D tier event in Springfield, MO. For full details see the Ozarks Disc Golf website at http://www.ozarksdiscgolf.com/.

After the event I would like to invite KC Disc golfers to come hang out at Montgomery farm, my family's historic homestead, less than an hour from Springfield. Camping is available and I have baskets set up for play up near the house and on the back of the property (107 acres). I'll be there all weekend after the Sunburn Open and we will have professional quality fireworks both Saturday and Sunday nights. This is a family friendly place so bring the wife and kids. There is a spring fed stream that's fun for fishing or cooling off and a three acre lake on the property for fishing or even a canoe ride, we'll provide the canoe.
