WYCO / WyCo Workday - this Saturday - 2/25
« on: February 20, 2006, 11:39:18 AM »
We'll be having a workday this Saturday, 2/25. I plan to be there by 9:30 to get started. This will be to get the course ready for the Kan-U-WyCo that will be happening the Following Saturday, 3/4.

Items I'd like to accomplish:

 Clear out area on #7 for short pin and get it planted.
 Repair or replace some of the old rotten benches Mike and I made.
 Replace the pin on #4 original that got knocked out by a mower.
 Remove the funky tee-signs, not the signs themselves but the printed diagrams that I made and don't all look right.
 Hopefully replace those signs with better ones.
 Get the range finder and shoot the distances of the pins I don't have yet, only a few.
 Repair #17 long placement that got knocked loose.
 And finally, move the course all long for the first round of the tourney.

If you can make it out please do. I can use the help. I'll have my truck to haul things around and I should have most of the tools we'll need to do what's listed but if you have tools you want to bring that would be helpful. If you have questions just let me know here or call me - 816-830-0974

WYCO / WyCo Projects
« on: January 15, 2006, 12:49:21 PM »
The tee signs project for WyCo is at a standstill. If anyone can help me come up with good graphics for the signs I could use the help. We can either strip and repaint the existing signs or come up with something completely new. There is $1500 of club money earmarked for signs or benches. The parks department has informed me that they won't be helping us with the signs again this year due to manpower issues and the retirement of Mike Connors.

Also, we need a bridge of some sort from #9 to #10 across the ditch for when it is wet. Poison ivy will still be a major problem this year. I have lots of Round-Up Pro and a sprayer but could use some help to get this done once things start greening up again. Major areas for poison ivy are along #10 and along #7.

Only one new pin planned at this point, short right #7. The #4 original pin was knocked down by a mower and will need to be replaced. The pin was not bent too badly so I have it to clean up and replant.

#1 needs attention. the pole the basket it on needs to be re-drilled so the basket height we be correct and several inches need to be cut off so it can be moved to the left and right placements. Also there is no stanchion on it for a flag. It's the only pin with no flag. Pete Cashen has said he could help with this but the basket needs to be taken to his shop. If anyone has the power tools to do this onsite it would be helpful.

Workdays will take place soon as the first tourney of the season will be the Kan-U-WyCo on March 4th.

The ace fund is somewhere near $800.

Maybe that will draw a bit more of a crowd next season  :D

Kind of a strange night out at WyCo. We were all ready starting to to tee off with a fivesome playing open when Cecil and Rick showed up. I quickly set them up as a threesome with Dave Hemmeline and they took off from #3. We left the initial drive out there and continued as a foursome from #1 playing advanced. Three of us could have played Masters but Brad would have been the odd man out. Since he normally plays open I went ahead and called us a card of ams because Brad showed up with only two drivers and had to borrow a putter. I think the scores show that the decision to do this was fair. I hope others feel the same. It was highly irregular though. This Friday we will be teeing off at 5:00pm to try and beat the sundown. But just in case you might want to bring a glowstick or two and some tape to keep from playing the last hole or two in the dark.

Five out for a quick round. A group of five teeing off at 5:30 when daylight is gone at 7:25!!  The secret weapon? Mike D's badass golf cart.

Teeing off no later than 5:10 this week. No golf cart...  it's headed to the Friz. Come on out for a tune up round before this weekend's club championships.

Not to be out done, Mike Davis hit a birdie on #4 in the woods this week as well.

We will be teeing off at prompty 5:30 this Friday, 9/30. If you are planning to be there and are running late please call - 816-830-0974.

The ace fund is now over $700. There's never been a league ace at WyCo... lots of metal but nothing has stayed in the basket. Dave Hemmeline nailed #5 last week, but alas, it was not meant to be.

Rained Out!  Sort of.....

12 hardy souls showed up with the weather looking like it was definitely going to storm, and it did. We passed out the cards and headed to our holes just about the time it started raining. Three holes into the round three of the four cards headed for shelter J while one card continue to slog on through the downpour. To no avail however, they too had to stop after six holes. After about a 40 minute rain delay we took to the course as six teams of doubles and played the front nine (1 thru 8 and 18 ).

Mike D./Jeff H. =   -2 ($20)
Tom B./Doc N.  =   -1 ($10)
Chad/Rick R. =   E
Rick M/Michael =   E
Cecil/Dave H.  =   E
Kevin/Dean =   +4 (Huh?)

League this Friday. Be there.......     8)
