Clover Dell Park / Baskets are going in on April 14th!
« on: March 23, 2012, 03:50:26 pm »
Baskets and benches for the back nine are going in on April 14th. Of course there will be the inaugural round taking place as soon as the work is done but the following week on Sunday, April 22nd, the day after the Swope Spring Renewal, I would like to cordially invite all KC disc golfers to come check out the 18 hole +1 course at Clover Dell Park in Sedalia, MO.

Perhaps some bag tag challenges and maybe a money round... just come check it out!

Clover Dell Park / Work Days - Back Nine on the Way!
« on: February 24, 2012, 08:40:58 am »
Saturday March 10th and March 17th will be two major work days at Clover Dell. We have an Eagle Scout project spearheading the installation of the back nine and a Lion's Club project clearing brush and preparing for the basket installation. If you are in the area and want to join in please do. If you've played the front nine at Clover Dell and were less than impressed you can expect to have your opinion changed. Big things are on tap for Sedalia disc golf. The front nine is continuing to mature and the back nine will have three legitimate par fours. It might even have a bonus!

Clover Dell Park / Update
« on: October 03, 2011, 11:11:53 am »
Recent work at Clover Dell:

New left pin on #6
New Long left pin on #1
Lots of cedars removed on #4, #5 and #6 and several trimmed up at the bottom.

Now have alternate pins on all holes but #2, #7, #8.
Alternate long tees on #1, #2 and #4 are there but people seem to forget about them. I think signs on those holes are in order.

We have a new sign letting people know the course is there but still need a marquee. The Lions Club has offered to build the marquee.

There is a bump in the road for the planned nine-hole expansion. They want to see more people playing to justify the added expense of maintaining the course (mowing). I ran into some new players Saturday that plan to lobby for the expansion but the proposed layout was nixed. A new layout proposal is in the works.

Still meeting at 5:30 on Mondays until DST goes away. Then twice a month on Saturday morning at 10am is the plan.

It's a slow go but disc golf is slowly catching on in Sedalia. Look for a larger event there in the spring, especially if the expansion goes through.

USM / USM This Week
« on: July 05, 2011, 10:32:35 am »
Anyone planning to make it to USM this week?

The USM crew is pondering a field trip today so we may be doing our weekly tomorrow instead. If that spoils your plans please let me know before we commit to the field trip. Our plans are entirely flexible. Next week the plan is to try out two new holes on campus and use some land we have not ventured into before.

Clover Dell Park / Clover Dell Park

Yes, there is a little nine-hole course in Clover Dell Park in Sedalia, MO. It has nine Mach IIIs with a tenth practice basket. There are twelve nice concrete tee boxes with an alternate on #1, #2 and #4. Alternate pin placements are being added slowly and there are nice tee signs on all nine holes at the original pad. The tee signs are already out of date though. Many more of the eastern red cedars will be removed, so if you think there are too many blind holes right at the moment, it will change.

We have also been given the green light to put nine more baskets on order and expand the course to go near the lake and around behind it with some longer more technical holes. Dick Parker has already been out to help me lay this expansion out and the parks director has seen our ideas and is working on making it happen. Here's a link to more info at Disc Golf Course Review.

If you are thinking about coming out to check it out and would like some company please let me know. If I am around I would love to come out and give you the grand tour and take your bag tag.
