General Banter / Account Creation Policy
« on: February 10, 2010, 06:44:30 PM »
To combat the rash of spammers we have had lately I have changed the registration process for the DISCussion board. From now on a board administrator will be required to review each registration and approve it before a new user can log in to the forum. This is going to add some overhead to the duties of the administrators but should eliminate the spammers, provided we do a good enough job of screening out the riff-raff.

I apologize to those of you that have had to deal with the PMs or e-mails from spammers and hope that no one took the bait and clicked on the links they have been sending.

If anyone sees anything else come across this forum that appears to be spam or malware please let me know via e-mail or PM. Thanks.

General Banter / Town Topic
« on: November 09, 2009, 01:24:39 PM »
My cousin Mark put together this video. It turned out quite nice I think. If you get a chance to see him playing around town as a solo act or with the Mo City Jumpers be sure to say hello. He's a disc golfer on occasion himself.

General Banter / Will Kimbrough tonight
« on: October 29, 2009, 01:01:43 PM »
For all you Todd Snider (or Will Kimbrough for that matter) fans....

Will Kimbrough tonight at Knuckleheads fronting his band Daddy. Get the word out. It's $10 in advance so probably only $12 at the door. I just heard about this today so it hasn't been promoted much apparently.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, come on down anyway, unless you don't like music.   ;D

« on: August 31, 2009, 09:14:31 AM »
Several of us are heading to Hays on Friday the 11th, returning Sunday evening the 13th. We plan to get there in time for doubles. This event is always a good time. I am borrowing a nice minivan and have room for one more at this point. Here are the details from the KDGA board:

25th Annual Frontier Open List of Events – September 12 & 13 2009

The Flying Bison Disc Golf Club invites you to attend the 25th Annual Frontier Open September 12 and 13 at Frontier Park in Hays, Kansas. On-line pre-registration will be available soon, please visit http://www.kansasdiscgolf.com for more information. Payout is based on the number of participants and sponsors. All tournaments are subject to change. Participants should contact the tournament director the day before the tournament for updates/changes. The first 90 participants to register will be guaranteed a 25th Annual T-shirt, disc, mini and booklet in the players’ package. Last year we had 106 participants, so pre-register early to guarantee a player’s package!

Additional info just posted:

Twelve more days until HISTORY!! Just some more info for you. First, the course has twenty-four new pin placements. We have tried to play as many originals as we can, but this is a dawn of a new era -- A NEW FRONTIER if you will. So be prepared for a new challenge, I myself do not know the exact layout, but there have been several Flying Bison working on it, so I trust it will be satisfactory. Also, for those who don't know, all the asphalt tees we're replaced with concrete tees, fyi.

Second, the player's party will be held at Centenniel Lanes. Eight Dollars all you can bowl from 8:30 - 11:30p, and we will have Lomato's pizza delivered. Cost will depend on how many people are in, but I'd think it be safe to say $7 or less per person. This party is intended for disc golfers, family members, sponsors, and anyone else who wants to come. We will likely have a mini basket set up, with prizes to be given away all night. It will be the party of all parties. Please no outside food or drinks!

Finally, we as a club will be adding $2,500 to the Open purse. I will reserve 50 spots for Open Players, and 70 spots for ams. That means if the Open division fills, there will be a minimum of $50 per person added. I expect registration to fill quickly. If you want a player's pack sign up early. There are only 90 player's packages, you've been warned so no fussing if you miss out. If you want to be guarenteed to play, sign up early!!

REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT 9PM ON FRIDAY. Please make note, NO SATURDAY REGISTRATION!!!

WYCO / 8/7 League
« on: August 09, 2009, 12:02:59 PM »
Nineteen out on a hot breezy August night for league. The course was still in Worlds placements and there was ace beer from Dave Hemmeline's ace on #10 at Rosedale. To quote Dave: "The ace was at Rosedale but it was a Worlds ace so I can bring the beer to whatever league I want". I wasn't about to argue with that logic. A great time was had by all.

Open (10)
Dave Hemmeline - 52
Ty Fansler - 55
Wes Lubberts - 59 (the $4 prize went to Wes because Loomis was already gone)
Loomis - 59
Nick Altieri - 60
Dick Parker - 61
Justin Kreutzer - 65
Luke Winkelbauer - 67
Eric Janes - 68
Mike Allen - 69

Masters (9)
Tom Butler - 58
Steven "Doc" Norby - 63 (Doc has the $11 that a tie for 2nd would split because Kelly was gone)
Kelly Warren - 63
Doug Kroll - 66
Mark Hogins - 70
Ed Gonzales - 73
Kevin Montgomery - 75
Chas Tull- 77
Tony Todd - 79

That was only my 3rd WyCo league of the season after five years of averaging 20 per season and I do miss playing there a lot. It was great hanging out with the gang after the round. Hopefully I'll get one or two more times to enjoy it before the season ends. The course was looking great. I just wish I had made a few more putts....  like maybe 7 or 8 of them.... Wham-Oh!
