General Banter / Re: Leagues
« on: March 21, 2017, 09:30:00 AM »
Ok, so does that mean there is nothing going on during the week as of right now?

USM ace fund league on Tuesday at 5:30 is happening. Official KCFDC leagues will be starting up the first week of April. Wednesday traveling league is going already too. The thread for it is here:

Anyone on the east side that wants to get down and dirty working on a neglected disc golf course that desperately needs some TLC has a golden opportunity this Saturday at 9am. I'll be out there with tools and a truck to haul off downed trees remaining from the fall work day along with other tasks needing done. There a lot to do and I'll do it all myself if I have to. The list includes:

1. Hauling off those remaining trees.
2. Cutting and hauling off at least three more key trees to open up #5 and #18.
3. Removing a downed tree on the bonus hole and opening it up some more so we can use it to supplant #17 until it the original hole is available again.
4. Moving tee signs for #16 and #17 for the temporary redesign until dirt work on original #17 is done.
5. General repair of tee signs throughout the course.

This will be a good start to getting this course back in shape. Flags are on order but won't likely be in by Saturday but they will be getting replaced as soon as they come in.

Questions? Let me know, PM or email or just reply here.

.....PS, KMont, where's my real thread?  after I spent hours looking for your custom jester metal mini ;-) ?  lol

Ask and you shall receive.... Especially after going above and beyond to rescue my favorite mini for me.  8)

Tell the truth, you just wanted an excuse to meet up and drink beer and play pool so you went out and got my mini didn't you?  ;D

Now I need to get out and throw this course. Been in for several years. I have no excuse...  ::)

Das Loomis is also kicking the idea around.

Yeah, Loomis is pretty good at that. I've worked some with him before myself.

LaRon Harris and Ken Franks have both been known to give lessons. Look them up on FaceBook.

General Banter / The Disc Golf List
« on: November 17, 2016, 03:17:46 PM »
This is floating around Face Book right now and I know a lot of you guys don't do Face Book. So why not join in the fun right here on our little forum. Just copy what I posted and change the answer to your personal data. Feel free to add your own items to the list if you want.....

PDGA Number: 12037
When you started: 1987
Throwing Style: RHBH
Putting Style: Mostly push but I straddle a lot too.
Favorite Pro: Kyle Weidwald.... It's fun to play with people who obviously really love the game.
Favorite Disc: Griffin
Favorite Disc Manufacturer: Innova
Lifetime Aces: 4
Best Round: Bogie free hot round at Swope during a KCFDC club championships one year. I was on a card with Charlie Baursfeld and he told me it was the cleanest round he'd ever seen. Not bad coming from a blind guy. Miss you Charlie!
Favorite Course: Too many to mention but for purely sentimental reasons I'm going with Rosedale. But if I'm on vacation - DeLaveaga.
Least Favorite Course: Any of the many courses I had to walk away from because I couldn't find my way around it.
One Round Disc: Flat-top Roc
Person who got you into disc golf: Probably David Applegate or Rick Leverich.....
First Disc: Lightning Spitfire
If there was any course you could play: Ted's Dread... Just one more time.....
Home Course: I have two... University of Saint Mary, Leavenworth, KS and Clover Dell Park, Sedalia, MO.

There will be glow, beer, fire.....  Join us if you like.

I remember the Polecat! that's an old-school disc. Didn't know they came that light. Like I said, probably be great for a small kid getting started in the game. Otherwise a catch disc.....  Or, a disc to throw when people are around so no one gets hurt maybe.

Sounds like it might be what I call a premi. A disc with a logo or tourney stamp designed as a toss around disc or just a "premium" for entering the event. I don't know of any PDGA approved discs much below 130 gms. I have seen a few Lightning discs down in the 120s but never anything as low as 100 that was intended to be used in play. While there is a maximum weight of 200 grams there is no official lower limit in the technical standards guide that I can find:

You say it's a putter, what mold and/or manufacturer?

With all of that said, it doesn't sound very useful to me but a small child might be able to work with it.
