General Banter / Club Elections - Nominees
« on: October 03, 2006, 05:00:20 pm »
Andy may have been referring to something that came up in e-mail converstaion with the board. The KC VP position is not available this year because I did the interim gig until last year's regular election cycle for that position when Dirk ran for it and won. I had simply forgotten that fact in my note above. Sorry for the confusion.

General Banter / Ideas to raise money for a new course
« on: October 03, 2006, 04:56:24 pm »
We've done sponsorships like that before with area businesses. Say, $150 sponsorship gets your name on a t-sign for two years or something. The problem is, you can barely get a t-sign for $150 let alone a basket and some concrete. More like $700. So finding businesses or individuals that will donate that sum might be difficult. Have you looked at grants?

Also, before you promise to put sponsorship info on a t-sign in a public park make sure the parks department will allow it. Some cities won't allow commercial advertising of any kind in their parks.

Correct - He birdied #s 1, 5, 10, 12, 14 and 15 and bogied nothing, nada, zilch.

Dan Coffman and Arturo each had only one bogey on the way to solid rounds of 52 and 50 respectively. Others all had multiple bogeys.

Can tonight be a repeat of last weeks solid disc golf at WyCo? Stay tuned for the answer.........

Is anyone else going down for this D tier tourney? It looks like me and Mark will be heading down tonight. I have room for another still. It will be a disc golf adventure weekend for sure. Lots more golf on Sunday during the trip back.

Tee off this week - No later than 5:15. If you get there early and get at least a threesome together and want to get started just grab a card and go. Just make sure someone sticks around to turn the card in.

Here is the section of the bylaws that covers the elections. This was adopted in an odd year. So, since this is an even year it appears we will be electing Sgt at Arms and Secretary along with all course coordinators. I believe there may be an exception to this due to a vacancy in the KS VP which may result in that position being up for reelection this year as well. I will try to nail this down as soon as I get the chance.

KCFDC Bylaw item two:
Each office will be voted on separately, beginning with the
President, Vice President of Missouri Courses (VP of MO), Vice President of Kansas Courses (VP of KS) and the Treasurer holding offices for two year terms. On alternating years, the voting for the Secretary, Sergeant-at-Arms will occur. Course Coordinators (CC) for each course that is currently being maintained by the KCFDC and courses that have received funding will be voted on at each election on a yearly basis

I'm headed down there. I'm leaving Friday evening after WyCo league and going to my family farm about 45 minutes to an hour from McClelland Park. Then after the tourney I'll be headed back to the farm for the night and after playing some golf at the farm head home Sunday afternoon playing a couple of courses on the way. Anyone interested in tagging along let me know. There's plenty of room in the house and I have room for two or three in my car. But it will be a full weekend commitment rather than just the tourney on Saturday if you ride with me.

Otter happens to be a fine human being and a good friend of mine. I'd trust him babysiting my children. I doubt he'd do it and wouldn't blame him for turning me down if I asked but.....

I'll get the remainder of the scores posted this week but after seeing that Jared Kintzel won the open division at the Lake Shawnee Open I thought it would be appropriate to post that he also set a new course record of 48 at WyCo Friday evening before the tourney on Sunday. This dude's on fire.

Six birdies and no bogeys at WyCo Friday for Jared. This beats the previous record held by Mike Davis on the same short layout.

Other highlights from Friday include six personal best rounds on the course at WyCo;

Open [6]
Jared Kintzel - 48 - New course record   8)
Arturo Villareal - 50
David Hemmeline - 52
Mike Davis - 52
C.D. Steiner - 55
Bryan Guthrie - 60

Masters [8]
Dan Coffman - 52
Steven 'Doc' Norby - 56
Mike Thomas - 57
Jamie Barry - 59
Jeff Hoglund - 59
C. J. Johnson - 59
Kevin Montgomery - 61
David Hoglund - 61

Advanced [2]
Jesse Wallace - 63
Dan Christianson - 77

These are the ones I know about. If I missed a personal best round on this list from last Friday please let me know. The course was playing really fast and giving up some good shots. The weather this week looks to be similar but a little cooler. We'll be teeing off no later than 5:15 but if you get a card of three together before that you can get started earlier.

I moved #3, #9, #12 and #16 last night so it's changed course again this week.

Fourteen out for another nice evening at WyCo. Nice breeze to carry the plastic but not too much. It's getting dark earlier and a few folks got stuck finishing up sans daylight. This week it's grab it and go. If you get a card of three together you can start as soon as you're ready. Otherwise, I'm teeing it off no later that 5:30 and threesomes if at all possible. Next week it will be 5:15.

Dave Hemmeline - 52
Brad Merys - 57
Jared Kintzel - 58
Quinten Street - 58

Mike Thomas - 60
Mark Morales - 63
C.J. Johnson - 67
Jeff Hoglund - 68
Kevin Montgomery - 69
Mark Hogins - 71
Steven 'Doc' Norby - DNF (Taking his run at the aces then saving his arm for BV)   8)  :D  (Looks like it paid off in the long run with a 1st in his division on Saturday)

Greg Bird - 72
Dan Christianson - 78
David Christianson - 98 (What a trooper)  8)

Still no aces........

General Banter / Club Championships?
« on: September 21, 2006, 06:19:30 pm »
The notes I took at the last meeting show the club championships tentatively set for 10/7 and 10/8. There's no mention in my notes of format or location though.

Unfortunately this has been a really bad season for the EC. It's been tough to schedule meetings and the energy is sort of low. Thanks for brining this up. We need a kick in the pants every now and again. On the bright side, we have been getting a lot done in relation to working with the various parks departments and getting new courses in the ground as well as planning for the long range. Hopefully we can pull together a couple of events as the league season winds down and get something in the mail to everyone.

Rick was wearing some at WyCo a couple weeks ago. He said he would be stocking them at DGW soon I think. Check with him.

We'll be teeing off right at 5:30 unless you get there earlier and get a card of at least three together, then you could start as soon as you're ready.

You would be heading West on I-70 rather than East to get to the course though. It's about 20 to 25 minutes West on I-70 to the course. It's a fun long course and a good league to wind down the week with. If you think you might be out to WyCo you can call me for directions and to let me know you're coming. Just PM me for my number.

Otherwise the closest to you will be Water Works or Cliff Drive.

General Banter / Leavenworth course
« on: September 20, 2006, 10:35:46 am »
I'll be out there by 5:30.

The course isn't marked with tee signs, just markers and flags. To park close to #1 you would want to park in the Maria Hall parking lot or the lot behind Miege on the Northwest side of campus. You can always call when you get to the area for directions - 816-830-0974.

Here is a link to a course map that shows the buildings and parking lots.
