Tournaments / Re: DiscNut's OPC Open - 3/17/07

This is a 'C' Tier for all Pros and a 'B' Tier for all Ams. That is the reason for Advanced and Pro being the same price.

Justification. More points for Ams, etc....

Whatever.  Points aren't all they're cracked up to be.

Chap

I'se just sayin' is all......   Still sounds like a good time.

General Banter / DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
« on: March 07, 2007, 03:26:54 PM »
Don't foget to set your clocks forward one hour for daylight savings time by 2am Sunday morning (before you crash Saturday night).

I would hate for people to be late to the tourney or anything else because they weren't well enough informed.   ;D

It is three weeks earlier this year.

I'll have some discs for sale, there should be tournament stamped shirts from a third party and probably at least one other disc sales outfit will be around. Also, I expect a guy that 's been doing some nice tie dyed towels to be there. So, yes, there will be some discs for sale on site.

No tournament stamped discs this year though, sorry. Got around to that too late.

For those that didn't get in in time or show up only to find out we are full there is this fine option for quality disc golf in Kansas City on Sunday:

OKAY - another change of plans -

I just found out that the Kan-U-Wyco is filled to capacity, and that I missed out.  I'm on the waiting list, however, I doubt that I'll make it in the tournament.

In any case, I will be at the Wyco event waiting to see if I get in. If I do not, I would gladly go ahead and run the BVD league on Sunday the 11th, at noon. If there are any players at the Wyco event who do not get to play, they can come out and join me at BV as well. If we do play, I don't expect a large turn-out because of the tournament and the fact that these dates keep changing. We might just play a singles event if there are not enough people available for a doubles match.

hey Kevin, is there any kind of league or doubles going on at the course on Sat.? a couple guys from emporia wanted to know. thanks

Nothing that I know of but you're welcome to put together a random draw doubles or something. I think you'd get a pretty good crowd for it on Saturday. I'll be busy making final preparations myself or I'd play.

It's Full!

A waiting list has started with one entry already. Online registration is closed. If you want on the waiting list e-mail me or give me a call. If there are unpaid no shows Sunday morning as of 9:00am we will go to the waiting list starting at number one if they are there. Paid no shows get until 9:15 to show up or call before I give up their spots. If you are running late call me, otherwise you need to check in by 9:15am. If someone drops out before the event the waiting list will fill the spot automatically.

Here's the field:

WYCO / Re: Work Days
« on: March 05, 2007, 09:04:35 AM »
Huge thanks to the WyCo work crew:

Mark Hogins - Both Days!
Ed Gonzales
Jim Sherwood
Tammie Morrison
Bryan Guthrie

And all those dozens of people that played WyCo this weekend and provided us with feedback on the course.

Things done:
1. Move unused #14 pin to new short location at #17 - DONE!
2. Remove bent #18 - DONE!
3. Clean gunky old printed signs off of the metal tee signs to prepare for new printed signs to be applied next week. Mostly done, seven signs to go.
4. Replace #18 sign post and put up replacement sign. Will need to stencil #18 on it in black. They are painting it white for me today. - DONE!
5. Determine where mulch is needed on course then drive to load up truck and return to distribute it - repeat as necessary. The mulch is about a thirty minute round trip away. - Three loads - DONE! (Ran out of mulch)
6. Replace flags if I can get a new set by then. - This may or may not happen before the tourney. We may have pursued this too late. They will be placed on order though.

I took several registrations over the weekend at WyCo. I haven't gotten the online registrations from the weekend yet and we are at 57. I beleive we are going to fill prior to Sunday morning. If you are thinking about playing you need to let me know ASAP.

We have plenty of room for Open, Pro Masters and Women's divisions. Intermediate and Advanced are both getting to be pretty crowded fields, 15 and 13 respectively at this point.

The tourney is now officially half full - 45 pre-registrations over a week before the event.

The long range forecast for next Sunday the 11th at Weather.com is 56 degees and sunny with only a 10% chance of precipitation and winds out of the south at 9mph! Can you say, "ideal conditions"?   8) 8)

PS: Disclaimer - Ten days is a bit of a stretch to be forecasting the weather. But I remain optimistic!  ;D

WYCO / Work Days

It's official. I have a pile of wood chips waiting for me at Wyandotte County Lake.

I will be at WyCo no later than 9:30am tomorrow (3/3) and 10am on Sunday (3/4) to get started.

Things to do:
1. Move unused #14 pin to new short location at #17
2. Remove bent #18
3. Clean gunky old printed signs off of the metal tee signs to prepare for new printed signs to be applied next week.
4. Replace #18 sign post and put up replacement sign. Will need to stencil #18 on it in black. They are painting it white for me today.
5. Determine where mulch is needed on course then drive to load up truck and return to distribute it - repeat as necessary. The mulch is about a thirty minute round trip away.
6. Replace flags if I can get a new set by then.

I will have all tools and an extra pair of work gloves with me. Lunch and beverages are on the club for those that actively assist in these tasks.

Call or PM me if you have questions.

WYCO / Re: New Basket Locations
« on: March 02, 2007, 09:44:53 AM »
I am pulling the unused pin from near the woods on #14, just to the east of the original pin. We have only played #14 there for about two weeks in the four years the pin's been there. I think it can be put to better use elsewhere. So putting in the new #17 will involve pulling and old pin and placing it in a new location. The ground is soft enough that it should be prety easy. I also plan to pull the bent #18 long out and filling in the hole. A new long placement for that hole will be put elsewhere at a later date.

Help will be greatly appreciated.  :)
