Sorry for the confusion. I'm not sure where you're seeing the wrong info. It should read $40 for open and $30 for all other pro divisions. That would mean the geezers and women pay $30. I have not contracted with AARP for the seniors discount so you'll have to take advantage of that at lunch.

Please do Brett. I forgot to reply to you about this earlier. The course is in Bonner Springs but surrounding towns are Edwardsville, Basehor and Kansas City, KS.

Sorry you can't make the tourney but I do understand. Thanks for the help.

WYCO / Re: WyCo Workday - this Saturday - 2/25
« on: February 27, 2006, 06:32:28 PM »
Many thanks to the guys that came out the WyCo workday Saturday. Jake Carmack, Bryan Guthrie, Tracy Walker, Brad Merys and Mark Arnold. Also thanks to Nick who was just playing a round by himself and stopped to help.

Items I wanted to accomplish:

 Clear out area on #7 for short pin and get it planted. DONE!
 Repair or replace some of the old rotten benches Mike and I made.
 Replace the pin on #4 original that got knocked out by a mower. DONE!
 Remove the funky tee-signs, not the signs themselves but the printed diagrams that I made and don't all look right.
 Hopefully replace those signs with better ones.
 Get the range finder and shoot the distances of the pins I don't have yet, only a few. DONE! (Thanks to Mark for bringing his range finder)
 Repair #17 long placement that got knocked loose. DONE!
 And finally, move the course all long for the first round of the tourney.    DONE!

The course won't be completely long for the first round because we found long #18 to be badly bent from a mower strike and I won't have time to fixsit. It won't be comepletely short the second round because I think everyone will enjoy shooting across the pond on #14 more than shooting to the short pin. Also, there will be a brand new placement, never been played before, on the second round on #7. In the woods on the right.

I've actually heard those can be more accutrate than a range finder if you do it right. I don't have access to one though.

Check with Rick and John. Soemone has one. I used it last year at WyCo. I think it may be the club's. Maybe someone can get it to you tonight at the meeting.

I want to shoot the distances of some holes at WyCo this wekeend but I think Mark Arnold is going to bring his range finder out and do it.

« on: February 20, 2006, 11:39:18 AM »
We'll be having a workday this Saturday, 2/25. I plan to be there by 9:30 to get started. This will be to get the course ready for the Kan-U-WyCo that will be happening the Following Saturday, 3/4.

Items I'd like to accomplish:

 Clear out area on #7 for short pin and get it planted.
 Repair or replace some of the old rotten benches Mike and I made.
 Replace the pin on #4 original that got knocked out by a mower.
 Remove the funky tee-signs, not the signs themselves but the printed diagrams that I made and don't all look right.
 Hopefully replace those signs with better ones.

 Repair #17 long placement that got knocked loose.
 And finally, move the course all long for the first round of the tourney.

If you can make it out please do. I can use the help. I'll have my truck to haul things around and I should have most of the tools we'll need to do what's listed but if you have tools you want to bring that would be helpful. If you have questions just let me know here or call me - 816-830-0974

General Banter / Bag Tag Idea

I know KC is considered a cow town but that's ridiculous.....  It might be kinda fun but shouldn't it have at least a little cool factor?

I like the stainless steel one best but I defer to the at large board for input.

I just got off the phone with the new guy at Wyandotte County Park, John Bower. He is the one directing the cleanup effort going on and he is Disc Golf Friendly!

He says they have some new equipment for mowing and intends to keep the park manicured at all times from now on with a seven to ten day mowing cycle (depending on weather as always). He is mindful of the obstacles we like to have in place having come from another parks department with a disc golf course. What they are doing right now is going to benefit the course in the long run for sure.

Work day February 25th and possbly the 26th as well. Depends up the weather a little bit. Whichever proves to be the best day is when the bulk of the work will get done. More info to come including a list of proposed tasks to be completed in a formal workday post here and on Topica.

There are two schools of thought on this. On the one hand it will make a couple of the holes a little easier. On the other hand it will clean up some nasty underbrush, poison ivy and piles of rotting logs and limbs that were unsafe to land in. It's a give and take but I think in the long run it will make for better golfing all the way around. The main thing is that they left all of the trees in the areas they are cleaning up and just took the nasty growth beneath, unlike what they did to the pond a few years back, which really did change the hole for the worse.

Yes, yes!  I saw this yesterday too. The mess in #17 fairway is now gone! I'm considering a short pin placement in the woods there now. Also, the tress off the pad on #4 that had the jungle growing around them are now just trees. They also trimmed a lot of the shaggier looking trees around the course. Looking good....
