Kudos to Rick Rothstein, Jack Lowe, Dan Cashen, John Chapman and all of the other volunteers (there were lots of you I know) that made yesterday's HUGE Ice Bowl a truly enjoyable experience.
Of course, the weather was a big bonus and kept the list of wimps and whiners to nearly zero I expect.
233 participants was the count reported and even though I don't know the exact number it looked like at least half of that number played both rounds. All 36 holes at Rosedale were populated for the nine hole second round. At four per hole that's 144 die hard disc golfers.
A big congratulations to the new Ice Bowl Champion - Brad Merys!! Brad's name will now forever grace the traveling ice bucket trophy.
Also, what would the Ice Bowl be without the chili? There were no less than 17 entries in the chili cook-off. While my chili scored a solid 15, dead center of the scoring along with many others, the winner was Chris (someone get his last name?) with a score of 24. The scoring was done by blind taste testing by three judges. The chili was rated on a scale of 1-10 and the scores totaled. That means Chris's chili averaged an impressive 8. Nicely done. I wish I would have gotten a taste.
We shattered our goal of 200 players and I'll bet we easily surpassed our goal for donations to Bishop Sullivan Center. I expect the final totals will be posted by those with the numbers when they get a chance.
Bravo to the KC crew for a record setting Ice Bowl!!!!!
